I have a AT&T MR6500 that we’re use for our video game trailer and sometimes the speed are not optimal because the hotspot is placed inside of the truck. We do have the option of using an external NIMO antenna. However, this hotspot is only for a 2 x2. What ya your recommended solution

This is an excellent video. The video is specific, but very good. If listen carefully there is a general approach that can be used in many situations. This is definitely worth a watch. A big thumbs up.

At least you have options. In my neck of the rural NC mountains it's satellite or nothing.
The T-Mobile tower is far but the antenna does make a BIG difference.
@@jcristina The only service I can get is a weak Verizon signal from a tower about 15 miles away. I have a Weboost Yagi antenna pointed at the tower and on a good day I can get maybe 8 or 9 Mbps down. Upload is horrible though, usually 0.2 Mbps or less. I'm in hilly forested area though.

@@gstar7686Have the same, but mountains and hills are not my problem but trees. I could get 20 Mpbs down but less than 1 Mbps up and that was the killer. Starlink was my solution.

lol, very nice. I bought the 4x mimo panel with kmr-400 just a day before this video released but using the gl.inet x3000. Still need to test the gain in remote settings at a 2 - 6 mile distance with tree cover but this video helps confirm the research and the tips add value. Thanks!

Yeah here’s where people have issue with the content. We can all absolutely agree and appreciate this video because it shows exactly what folks should be willing to do regarding exploring their internet options. I was going to bond Starlink and a dsl line with 40 mbs download and 5 up, but then was informed that the company (CenturyLink) did not have a servicing station for our house yet we had lines and all that from years past. They weren’t willing to run anything so we cancelled. Verizon and T-Mobile are both claiming to be coming but no one knows when that is. Currently it’s either Hughes et, Viasat, or Starlink. Starlink has been doing us pretty well between 80-200 Mbps download and 10-20 upload
Starlink is your answer for now. T-Mobile or Verizon once available as backup.
Thanks for all the info you provide, I recently moved to an area where there ISPs are minimal and your content has been a great help. My question is, I'm a content creator also and I only have access to 6mbps up DSL and I know this isn't enough for my needs so I'm getting Starlink also, using Speedify would it be better to use the DSL ISP or use a cellular ISP for my redundancy? I hope this makes sense and thanks again.

Yes.. You can PAUSE you Starlink service and restart when ready.. (6mo on 6mo off) if you like.
I think that your up load speed differences are caused by the power of your up load signal power. Good job getting all those things to look out for us. By the way I grew up in Ojus.

Love the channel. We just installed starlink and it’s awesome. We have the standard plan $139 aud per month. We have used 934 gb so far this month and we are halfway through our monthly plan. Do you know the data limits or speed alterations and what we could expect before the plan resets on August 3 please?
Thanks for the video J! I've been testing like with Starlink first and then went to a T-mobile router then added the waveform antennas. The T-mobile routers detect many towers signals and bands unfortunately at least in my case they pic the worst ones for speed and quality. I would turn my antenna get a good speed then some time later it would switch to a slower band and speed. I just replaced my T-mobile Sagemcom router with an industrial type that automatically picks the 'fastest' bands but also allows you to select which bands and even towers you prefer to lock to or if you want to isolate the bands for testing between each of them. My T-mobile router would not connect to the much needed N71 extended 5G band and would only prefer the slower 4G bands and even an N41 5G band would come in but was the slowest of them all for me being so many miles away from the tower. This new router uses N71 stand alone and stays connected to it constantly. I have not adjusted the external antennas much yet but so far around 80-100megs down and 60-70 upload with just two of the log antennas and no line of sight to the tower 16 miles away. Initial ping latency is also decent at around 35 ms now and my internet is much more responsive and peppy overall.

The cross threading type thing you had trouble with is called thread galling. It’s common with certain metals caused by friction as you tighten the nuts down. All you need to use is some anti-seize on the threads you’ll be able to get them back off.

We are in the same type of area as you. No high speed Internet, poor cellular service. Tried many things like Verizon Home Fusion and HughesNet, but never really had exceptional service from these. When T-Mobile came out for $50 a month I jumped on it. Worked great until I found out they did not support IPv4 at the time so using a VPN for work did not work. I complained may times and finally they ended up supporting it. So far it has been working well. Way better than HughesNet. 72Mbps down nd 11Mbps up. No external antenna.

Interesting thing about the towers you show WNW, it is just East of the S-5A pump station that I know very well. The station at the time it was built was the largest one East of the Mississippi River. And it held that title until around 2007 from 1955.

@@jcristina I pulled a night shift there the Tuesday night after Hurricane Andrew so that I would be in WPB first thing in the morning to pick up needed supplies. That also was where our Stores and Division HQ were until the late 1990s.
I was interested to see that you got poorer results with the cell antenna close to the Starlink "dish". Bear in mind that the Starlink has a relatively powerful transmitter to beam signals up to the satellites, so it is quite possible that this is partially overloading the cell antenna system and degrading performance - giving a higher bit error rate and thus slowing down the radio link. I think you are correct in thinking that greater spacing between the two could be beneficial. A good idea might be to place the cell antenna on a different wall, for example, so you can take advantage of the extra shielding that the building structure affords from the Starlink transmission. (Bear in mind, the Starlink will probably be transmitting even if you are not uplinking.) Besides the transmitter, the Starlink has a whole bunch of high speed electronics working inside that plastic case which could radiate enough radio noise to affect sensitive devices nearby. Thanks for doing the tests - as I said: Very interesting!
As a 4x4 mimo owner I can just tell you right now depending on what your speeds are to getting to begin with you’ll probably not beat starlinks speeds unless your in a more populated area with updated towers I live a mile from mine and I’m not sure if the towers needs more bands added to it or what but the antenna nearly 4-10x the speed I get originally, the issue is you cants band lock with T-Mobile or Verizon so basically your better off going with a Chester cheetah gateway and putting your t mobile sim in there, that’s my plan but I’m just saving up because I want to have the new gateway and starlink to compare the two and choose which service and device I really want, basically if your speeds are below 20mbs download and like 5-10 upload you’ll just match starlinks speeds but anything below that you got less internet
External antennas almost always work better than one that is indoors. Agree on the need for backup. That is why I still have DSL. And for backup, there is the cellphone tied to a computer thru a USB cable.
And Starlink after 13 days, did another Router update. New one came in at 1900 on 7/12/2023. New one is 2023.27.0mr25421 Previous one did have a faster upload speed ( hit 39 today before the change ) but it was showing extreme slowing of the DL speed with as low as 50Mbps. SNR is about 3 with the new one whereas it was >10 before. So there is some improvements.
Improvements are a good thing for sure.
You can probably make a good case for T-Mobile B2B business plan, and possibly a static IP for an extra charge.
I’m not sure what to get. I do have T-Mobile on my phone plan, but not sure if this internet router works good on my new house I just brought. It’s in a town just outside the university city of Athens, GA. But I’m also interested in Starlink. But it’s home equipment is kind of expensive.

Upper Peninsula of Michigan, getting 42 down and 14.2 up with latency of 45. With Viasat I had double the bandwidth and triple the latency. Cellular coverage is extremely poor. We're supposed to get fiber to the home this fall (they are taking preorders) but I think its really fiber close to the home, because they ask if the location currently has service or had it recently.
I have a question about the T-Mobile system. Can you turn off wi-fi and just use a wired connection?

I’ve seen these Waveforms a while back from someone using them on their internet in landscape location like yours. Waveform lagged on getting you to try these. For those of us that may not be able to get these, would you still recommend the TP Link WiFi extender?
These are for increasing / boosting communication with the cell towers where as the WiFi extenders are for boosting or extending local "LAN" network traffic!

My brother is getting crazy speeds, with out an external antenna, with his Tmobile in Massachusetts. He hasn't seen it go below 300 and sometimes gets up to 700. I'm assuming it's because he's 2 miles from a cell tower and not many people in that area have Tmobile internet.
Absolutely and certainly 5G as LTE caps out under 200MBPS.

I need to do a input on this video that may help. I have the 4x4 mimo yagis from waveform but was having a big problem with my SINR. What I found was that I have three routers in my home. Two of those were causing my problems. The antennas were close enough that the outdoor mimo antennas were getting the signals from inside. I had to move the outdoor antennas to where they were in front of the routers. My SINR went from -7 to -28db and speeds went from 75-80 Mbps Down to 400-525 Mbps Down, and the upload from 12 to 35-40Mbps. Antenna placement is very important.
I also have a Starlink System and can say that it was the worst 500 dollars I ever spent.
But that dishy as they call it is a flat service and produces a signal of about 160 to 170 degrees angle. So yes it does make sense that there was interference to the t-mobile because of similar frequencies and harmonics from the transmitter section. I will take T-Mobile over Starlink any day. I have a different router system than they use though.
Can you pull the Sim out of the T-Mobile router and use it in a Peplink or similar? Never checked into it.

If the router has four leads. I would run with a 4x4 for sure.

Nice to see the US T-Mobile's 5G router use just 4 antenna connections. Many European 5G Mobile operators provide 5G routers that use 6 to 10 internal antennas, particularly with Huawei routers. For example, the Huawei CPE Pro 3 5G router has 10 U.fl ports - 2 for the low 4G bands, 4 for the upper 4G bands and 4 for the 3.6GHz 5G band, not to mention additional 4 more U.fl connections for its internal Wi-Fi antennas. With this Huawei 5G router, the only worthwhile option is to mount it outside in a weatherproof enclosure or replace it with another 5G router that uses fewer antennas.
With the routers that use 4 ports, these use dedicated ports for the upload and share the ports between 4G and 5G for 4x4 MIMO on the downlink. In this case 4G likely uploads on LTE-M (4G main) and 5G uploads on both the 5G and MIMO ports. Swapping cables can have a significant impart on the upload speed, but tends to have little impact on the download speed unless one or more individual antenna elements has a problem or getting interference.
As for the RSRP and SINR signal readings, most routers only report the readings of the primary band they are connected on. If that band is picking up a lot of interference, but not the bands it is aggregating, the speed will have little correlation with the readings. I have this issue with my own 4G set up with the Three network here in Ireland and have to use a terminal AT command (not available on most ISP provided routers) to view the individual RSRP and SINR signal readings for each individual band my router is connected to.

How far are you from the cell tower and are you having to shoot through a lot of trees? I have 100 foot pine trees to go through and about 4 miles to the closes T-Mobile tower.
I'm a few miles from the tower and it can not be seen through the countless Cypress trees on and off the property.
Also RSRQ is actually just as or more important than RSRP along with SINR for cell data usage. You can have a -105 RSRP and -10 RSRQ and have good down and up bandwidth conversely you can -81 RSRP and -16 RSRQ and have horrible data transfer.

Since you’re investing in an antenna, you’re better off using a 3rd party 5G modem / router rather than any of the gateways T-Mobile provides, swapping The TMHI SIM into the new gateway, the Suncomm lets you IMEI update and lock on to bands also has 5G SA , which The T-Mobile gateways don’t have at this time

Might be an option if I got ANY t-mobile or Verizon signal on my property but I barely get 1 bar of ATT service with a cell repeater. 40 feet up on a pole.

It is the position itself that determines the results.

Living Fla.I assume your house is CBS construction which thus has rebar and grounded like a Faraday cage. No wonder the signal was compromised! Having had internet essentially like a customer from 1933 with a crystal set in terms of data rate. 4.5 megabytes./sec and that was great compared to a tele modem but heck, that was magic 20years ago. Starlink is extremely variable from a low of 30 but up to 150 depending the time I test but great in comparison. It is expensive however in Canada up link is about 10 MPs so I am okay and any time I lose my connection it is from my non use which I can tell the auto deletion or timing out is happening so I reconnect in settings and if I am using, I don't lose. I note it speeds up as it adjusts itself but as I cannot see the antenna on the roof I assume it is not a physical resetting but software.
Agree... CBS makes RF difficult to pass-thru so an external antenna is of great value as seen in my results.
Joseph, my t-mobile is 112mb down and 78mb up and have it on the highest point inside of the house. Not many people in my area are aware of the service they are just now getting Starlink which is so horrible now compared to 2021! Thanks for the information on these external antenna

If the goal is bridging/binding... It would be fairer comparison if you showed Speedify vs. Microsoft Bridge (which is included in the OS).
I suspect that Speedify may simply be an overlay that uses Microsoft Bridge. Installing the Spedify app then seeing of Microsoft Bridging is being used could be some indication... (I honestly don't know). If Speedtest somehow uses Microsoft Bridging but there is no significant difference then the real question has to be "where is the value?" vs. the original goal of bridging/binding.
The proof will be in the Speedtest result.
Not sure but I do know it knows when to bond and when to move to redundant bond “mirror” packets when Im streaming.
@@jcristina - probably some sort of optimization in the coding of the Speedify app... nothing wrong with that. I still think a head-to-head comparison with Microsoft Bridge would be a good test of Speedify's actual value vs. MS Bridge. I guess the real question is what $$ value is Speedify worth X in speed increase vs. MS Bridge?
I wish I could get a cell signal in my remote camping areas. Until then, Starlink is my only way to go.

Found out not available at my house I’m in now nor in the house we are moving to but is available at my daughter’s address. And then he said they plan to geolock them. I have 4 lines with them, long time customer and I can’t get it due to my zip code. I don’t know how to DM in this app, sorry 🤨

Viasat is advertising like crazy right now. I’ve seen 2 of their spots in the last 20 minutes.
They can't chance that their satellites are located 20K+ from Earth compared to 550K.. Latency will always be a problem no matter if their can get a GIGABYTE pipe of data to hit the planet.

I have some SH#T stories about their customer services also. That said, we all need to pick our battles. Sadly, in the woods the options are limited.
Tell me about it I am in the country too and run on cell service. Want to get Starlink but too many changes going on with them and I can not get a definitive answer if I have a view of a satellite
T-mobile has service here but its a complete joke. don't take these results seriously. you rarely have the days where you get 20mbps+ mostly its sub 0.3mbps. yea. less than 1... its pretty trash just about everywhere around here. its not just 1 tower. all of southern wv T-Mobile is hot garbage.
