Sweet looking little ride! Chad mentioned that the worst noise, is rolling a floor jack on the concrete. Walking on a plastic tarp while painting, is far more annoying.
65 years ago we would make those sidewalls blinding white by wetting them, powdering them with Ajax (the foaming cleanser bubba, bubba, bub, bub, bub) and then brushing and rinsing. Now you’re ready for a Saturday night cruise, burgers, fries, and root beer at the A&W, and a midnight horror movie with your steady gal. Probably a $6 night including the gas. Sigh!
Back in my day McDonald's was $.47 cents for a three course meal. We could both eat for a dollar. Burger, fries, and a Coke. Now it's more like $47.00.
@@JimmyMakingitwork Actually 1963 $1.00 / hour pumping gas at 29.9 cents per gallon. Movie was 25 cents for adults and buttered popcorn was a dime. Burgers and root beer for two was probably 60 cents so now that you mention it probably more like $3.30 for the night. But that was almost half a days pay for me. At $2.50 an hour you must have been a brick layer, lol.
Bro don't worry what anyone says about the color or what you've done to this car it looks awesome as hell. And now with them white walls WOW!! I can't wait to see you guys driving it. Jolene please film Nate doing some of his work when he's working on it if you would. This car is looking so nice. Speaking of Elvis now that Chad gotten a paint job done he should paint Elvis while he's in the paint mood. That car needs love too.
Rob Whittaker Down Under. The wheels just make the whole car just so authentic as a rod. They do so much for the colour of the car. It is one sweeeeet combo. I don't understand the objections to the colour. I'm 75 years old and so, so many cars (particularly American ones) were all shades of brown. My Uncle Harry had a HUGE American 4 door Chevy sedan. To a 8 year old kid it was as big as Sydney Harbour Bridge and it was BROWN. I believe it was an American Airforce Generals personal staff car, left behind after the war. Jolene your taste in colours are excelent. That car is a monument to both of you.
I worked at a body shop in Shilo, Manitoba in the early 1990's. The Shop was D.J. Autobody, and the owner, Sam Gradwell built a chopped 1950 Ford sedan very similar to yours. I remember he painted it dark blue. He did the whole thing himself, including the interior, wiring, the roof chop, and the body customizing, it was extraordinary when done! That man had bags of talent. It's too bad he couldn't have had a UA-cam channel back then.
White walls make this car pop!!Also when I saw the red wheels I thought it would look bad but with the hubcaps on it it looks great with the red stripe on the wheels. I know you have to had a rubber hammer, use that for the hubcaps so you do not hurt your hand. There are sharp edges that can cut you. Looking great!!!
Just looked up wide white walled tires on Amazon, $135 and up per tire. The applied white walls were between $100 to $150 for a set of four. Last time I tried to get some they had to come from Europe. Chad had a tire shop remount the tires so if the age of the tires was getting on I'm sure they would have given Chad a heads up. Good guys or not, freebie or not, a tire shop still has to keep in mind liability issues. Cars looking better all the time, the exposed red rim adds a nice accent. IMHO
Chad, Jolene, & Fina, I like the wide whitewalls but, I do worry about the age of the tires as the rubber does break down over time between that & the fact that they are bias ply tires I personally would not be hot rodding the car when you drive it! The car really does look good though, I do like the look Chad! Another great video Jolene you are really good with the camera and it will be fun when you are able to video the car riding down the road in it! Jolene while you guys are waiting for glass & interior you should push Chad to get going on your Bugatti before summer comes & goes. Fina is definitely glad to have you two home she is one happy dog!
You must not watch the show every day or you would know Jolene makes the call what’s going to be worked on !! so save your breath by trying to tell Jolene to push Chad to work on the Bugatti. my God, some people are pushy….. there are some clowns 🤡 🤡on here !!
@@glenryan6569 the interior is already bought so maybe if you watch every video, you would know that, instead of make a fool out of yourself. Haters, haters haters.
Very nice The bias ply White walls with the red rims gave it a very traditional look. Nice job Chad you have inspired me I have a few of these cars in my yard in different states of disrepair but I would like to chop the roof on one and maybe add some Chrysler finned quarter panels on it I hope I can find the time to start this project when I get back from Mexico have been watching your channel while in Mexico for the last two months I also like the Chrysler car you turned into a truck giving me many great ideas I wish I had the ambition to do them all probably more so the time it all seems easy in your head but time goes slow in real life when working on this stuff lol anyways, great job hope to see many more great ideas to inspire me😊
That car needs straight pipes all the way back, so that SBC will cackle. Spray Nine is awesome stuff, just keep it off the glass! I wonder if a 13/16" socket will fit the lugnuts better? Use a block of wood on the jack, lift under the frame so the body rises and the suspension stretches out. We used to be stuck using a bumper jack. IT LOOKS LIKE GLASS! I'm really feeling some dark window tint.
I know you are super busy. The wide whitewalls are going look great. Can't wait for the hood ornament. Gonna look sharp. I had another idea. If you could find one a Mercury emblem for the trunk. As long as you come this far It would look swell. A period emblem would be nice. Thanks for taking us along on this journey with the Ford. Have a good one.
Chad take the tip-off the can that you spray take the air compressor nozzle put it on the white tip Compress air back into the can of rock guard You will save money I'm from 19:25 Richmond Virginia. I tried it it works I had a 1/2 a can of WTD40 and I put the air compressor to the nozzle Compress the air into the can and put The can nonzel back on And you'll see what happens it says money It's something to try
I struggle with the wheels on mine quite a lot. I have a black 50 ford, chopped, and slammed. The whitewalls I think look awesome when the car is really low basically slammed.. but for driving when I fill the bags I see the whitewalls and its just too much for me... I love the look of the radials and less whitewall and even those hubcams he had on when the car is at a higher stance.. it looks less like a big white powdered donut with too much wheel showing haha.. of course I won't change my whitewall bias plys to radial at this point but I think it looked nice the way it was originally but understand he wants the traditional look!
Chad, to prevent those paint nozzles from plugging, remove them after use and spray brake cleaner through them and over the spray nozzle surface. Also a small squirt of brake cleaner down where you removed the nozzle before reinstalling. If the can quits halfway through, this will usually get it restarted but you may have to do it more than once to make it work reliably because the plug could be coming from the can.... I've stored cans for long periods using this brake cleaner method and they come back to life maybe 98% of the time.
Hi guys, Need to bring that red color to the interior. That color really looks nice with the brown. Very traditional old-school look. Thanks for the great videos
Hello, Chad and Jolene. I like the new whitewalls. If you want to keep tires or upholstery wet looking and clean, try using Lemon Oil for furniture. It is good for cleaning steering wheels too. Not greasy, attracts less dust.
I love the peek of the red wheel behind the hupcap...it ties in with the red tail lights. I don't normally like red with brown, but that looks so good. Maybe a cream interior with a little red stripe accent might looks nice!?!? The wide whitewalls look EXCELLENT. Especially with the fenderskirts. Totally yummy.
Chad, + the Queen, looks truly traditional with the wide whites! Still missing the blue dot taillights but they may not be legal anymore. Congrats on your fantastic crowd reception in Winnipeg! Great car show video! Cheers all around!
Looking really nice. Good work Chad and Joline. Looks traditional, like the red rim trim look, and ribs on the white wall tires and correct size tires for that car. Nice paint and color choice. The extended tail and headlights i thought was extreme actually looks very cool.

A wide white wall story. My dad was born in 1923 and told me when White Walls first came out they were very expensive so some fellows would get white paint and paint their tires to look like the real thing.
Sort of a kool nice job would be to make the center headlight turn when you turn the steering wheel. Could be done with maybe six small pullies and some bicycle cables tied to the back of the brake drum backing plate. As you turn left the headlight turns left and right cables pulls to the right. You could also do it electrically with some servos but it requires someone that knows how to do it. However with servos as they are electric you could mount the sensors on the steering column . This car is absolutely incredible. Congratulations. Its easy for me to have the idea but it takes a bit fo work to do. However it would be phenomanal. Wolfman Jack

People saying stuff like "you ruined the car by painting it" just exemplifies the fact that you can't please everyone Chad. No point in trying really. Do what you and Miss Jolene like... To heck with the rest.
She’s looking fine! Now, I could be talking about Jolene, but nah, I’ve my eyes on the exterior of this custom piece of rolling art. Way way way exceeding my expectations!🔥🔥🔥✌🏻
When I first started watching you restore this car,I was thinking how cool it would look with an extra foot length in the body just behind the rear window.
Hi Chad don’t know if someone has already mentioned this but I was wondering if you were going to modify the exhaust to go out the bumper exhaust slots.
I enjoy videos like this. I've quit watching regular television completely. Infotainment on UA-cam is so Zen and chill. It's about a guy loving his his trip! And we're along for the ride!
Looks much better...hay guys is there general dollar store's in Canada?..they had a degreaser called Purple it cost about 6 bucks a gallon..works great on white walls..
I never saw anything wrong with a brown paint job. My dad had a c10 pick up when I was a kid and it was painted brown with an orange strip going across the hood with a Chevy bow tie in the middle of it. We called it the Cleveland browns truck. don't hate it, Embrace it

Chad, I suspect you're having trouble seating that right front hubcap because there's a wheel weight interfering.
I was thinking the same thing. I'd pry them off and swap them to the inner rim in the same place.
Newer wheel weights have a dome shape.. .. I've had that problem on my full wheel cover's ..☹️

Paint the rims black, add beauty rings, and baby moons!
Wow those white walls and the caps definitely was the topper!! I'm super impressed with everything you have done to this car and the results are amazing, well done guys!!
Painting/dying the center headlight the right shade of yellow to make it a fog light will look great. It's down low as it should be for this purpose. What do you think?
It could be a DRL. Old timers used to stick a single amber light in the middle of the grille, always on if the key is on.
I didn't think it possible but Chad, you are correct! Those wide white walls definitely take it over the top. AWESOME but near as awesome as Jolene! 😉
CHAD !! The wheel weighs are on the outside of the Rim ! That’s why the hubcaps are giving you trouble 👍
Looks great with big whitewalls. I believe those tires have a life span of 8 to 10 years in your climate. Where I live in Tucson Arizona 6 years is the max. Especially these days when all the tires are made in Asia.

People saying stuff like "you ruined the car by painting it" just exemplifies the fact that you can't please everyone Chad. No point in trying really.
Do what you and Miss Jolene like... To heck with the rest.
It looks really special, if saw that drive down the road it will definitely make your head turn, good colour choice Jolene, another great job guys.
Great to see a complete car. Now do the cab over like this.
She’s looking fine! Now, I could be talking about Jolene, but nah, I’ve my eyes on the exterior of this custom piece of rolling art. Way way way exceeding my expectations!🔥🔥🔥✌🏻
Spraying black underseal with whitewalls in place. .
When I first started watching you restore this car,I was thinking how cool it would look with an extra foot length in the body just behind the rear window.
Ok I admit it, first time ever.. I was WRONG, the car looks GREAT! The paint made all the difference!!
Use Soft Scrub from under the kitchen sink. It makes Whitewalls look brand new again!
Love the color!!
Painted my #1 strat exactly the same color 20yrs ago!!
Those full white walls made a big improvement . Well done sir !
Hi Chad don’t know if someone has already mentioned this but I was wondering if you were going to modify the exhaust to go out the bumper exhaust slots.
You’re right, the white walls really look awesome !
The wide whites really made that beautiful glossy brown pop!
Be careful banging on the hub caps with your hands,I’m in my 70s and have trouble with my one hand from banging on hubcaps when I work in the garage 😮
For the rear tires, jack the frame up, not the rear end so the springs expand then for clearance.

What are you his publicity manager... LOL...
Very cool how you do it all, a real professional and if you have haters that are jealous people, just block them. I think it's really cool
I think the brown is great, good choice along with the whitewalls and skirts
The colour is fantastic... It did not ruin a thing!!
Love those wheels & tires ! The red wheels look great against the brown paint. Great job!
I never saw anything wrong with a brown paint job. My dad had a c10 pick up when I was a kid and it was painted brown with an orange strip going across the hood with a Chevy bow tie in the middle of it. We called it the Cleveland browns truck. don't hate it, Embrace it
I break out the black spray paint every time I take a tire off! You do you bro feed off the hate!
My uncle showed me that trick he would do it every three car washes or so. I still do it to this day both of my sons do it as well
I think some 50’s style penstriping would really set it off!
A car can have a great paint job but what sets it off is the details like blacking out the inner wells and such nice job
I never paint over dirt
The chocolate 🍫 50 will look Great with the wide white wall tyres on it 👍 Go for it Team Hiltz 👁 🐅 👌
Beating on that hubcap is a reminder why so many old cars had their caps in the trunk.
The tires really brought it together...The skirts work excellent, and the tail pipes worked out awesome...
Yall nailed it with that 50 ford color chop top ext on lights fender skirts tire hubcaps a fine job congrats all you
Thankyou to the Bad Chad and team that have brought this vision to what it is today, it’s been a entertaining journey and thankyou all for this.
I love how excited chad gets
I like the color of the car with the big white walls looks good and the chop top and French head lights
HEY CHAD! Looks like you've changed your mind on deciding to KEEP THE SPRAY BOOTH TARP after all!
