Ive watched a million artificial grass installs on youtube and i feel this one was the most helpful. A lot of videos don't explain it and it was a friendly video and I felt like I could trust what you were saying to do.
i was trying to find a way to cut the turf around the curved retaining wall. After i search 100+ of the youtube video, only this video has explained it. Most of the video only shows how to cut the turf at an open ended lawn. The turf I ordered is 15' x 25', and my backyard has a deck and a very long curved retaining wall. After I watched this video, I have it cut down to the size and have all edges fitted in one day. This video is very helpful.
Good job boys. I actually went to your open house few years ago in maple ridge and I was amazed with your turf. When I clicked this video I had your townhouse in mind and once this video started I was tripping out that it’s the same one! 👍
Thankyou Bella Turf. I am installing artificial turf for a school playground with a group of volunteers and your video was fantastic and very helpful. Disregard Robert Hart, the internet makes it easy for idiots to to do what they do best...
Thanks Brad. His statements hold zero weight. Many installers like him take the easy way and cut seams to a pre-cut shape. This short cut will save you from needing any precision with your cuts, save you time, and save some face weight from your turf since you usually cut off many of the front fibers with this method. If you install turf with patience and precision, straight seams are the professional way to go. There are no shortcuts. There are poor seams and there are incredible seams, it's all in how much heart you put into it. To the installers that use templates to cut their seams ... Stop wasting all that turf! Every one of those half round scraps is a waste.
Agreed and once again, thankyou for a wonderful demo video - it was incredible help and just what we needed to wrap our heads around the project. We're in a small town and no-one here does it.
Obviously laying the turf is not a Do It Yourself handy job. That wasn't a back yard it was turned into a construction site with crew. After watching this video I will forget the idea of artificial turf. Thanks. This video certainly made my job easier.
Excellent video. One question: how low should be the bottom of the artificial turf compared to the deck? I mean, if it's the same level, the grass leaves would be about 3cm above the deck and I think it would hold dust and everything else that comes from the deck. But if it's about 3cm lower, people could stumb on the deck. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
exelente trabajo muy limpio , una pregunta al remover la tierra donde tenia césped natural luego de aplicar mata maleza no es recomendable usar una tela negra para que no vuelva aparecer o ya con la grava mediana y pequeña compactada es suficiente .gracias
Hi awesome video I am trying to build an outside boot camp with turf. After the crush and run compacted what should i use so that the turf sticks to the crush and run?
Very good thank you. Quick question what is the exact product of the white silica sand. I have a tennis court where I would like to replace the existing infill with new infill. Wanted to know where I can buy the sand. I have tiger turf installed and the guy who built it about 10 yrs ago is a jerk. Who won't return my calls of provide any help. Stay away from Rhino Courts or John Shaffer. He installed built my tennis court, started cutting corners took endless time to build and has no courtesy to return my calls or emails. Due to desert storms there is some clay/dirt on the top layer which has caked on and I would like to remove the infill and put new infill. Turf is as good as new.
When figuring layout for my backyard, to keep the rolls manageable I want to seam two smaller rolls end to end to make a 80 foot run. Is it possible to seam rolls at the ends. I have two runs around a pool that will be 80 feet and those two runs are perpendicular to each other so changing the roll direction doesn't help.
Great video. I see in some videos they suggest putting nails in every 8 inches or so throughout the entire turf, others just show them going around the borders every 4 inches. Which is best?
so many projects in turf, I see them cut the turf right on the edge of the concrete, then when our sun gets going here in S, Nevada, it curls up on the edges
As a professional Arboriculturalist I can answer this by saying that if the tree's survive following the surface root damage, compaction, soil contamination and loss of gaseous exchange and water/nutrient uptake caused by these works, then yes the tree roots can continue to grow beneath and cause lifting and bulging. For those who have had this done, pay careful attention to the health of your trees going forward and have a professional Arborist carry out any necessary works to prevent any potential harm or damage caused by a failing tree. If you're still considering it then get a good arborist to advise you on your specific property requirements and the likely impact upon the health of any trees before going ahead with the works. basic rule is, don't do this within the RPA of any tree you value and want to keep healthy.
How often should I re-sand it and power broom it? I had 3 Boston terriers and pee smell on hot days is bad. Even after I wash it all down and spray turf pet odor deodorizer. Can someone help with info???? Ty
Been watching a lot of videos on how to install turf so i can do my backyard. Most vids I've seen though they have installed plastic to prevent weeds. Any reason why you guys didn't install it here ? Great video either way. Very helpful.
the 2 inches of ab mix ,sand and black plastic liner for the lawn, are in itself a weed barrier as not enough light gets thru . and Temps of the plastic make it almost impossible for anything to grow under it. in most projects , weeds come out because of one or two steps missing ..like a bad sub base, or a lack of removal 9f previous lawns that have roots connecting to a source of light.
I had mine done and they laid down DG over the rock and compacted. No weeds grown in my turf till this day!! Everyone has diff method. Maybe this company laid a mix of rock and dg?
That is not sand, that is PureZEO, used to neutralize pet odors that leach through the turf. If the aggregate is clean and packed smooth there is no need for additional material before laying your grass. You can however use rock dust or crusher fines but I would strongly advise against sand. Although slightly dated, this video demonstrates the install techniques still used today.
I was just about to ask if sand needed to be put on top of the rock sub base.....I was going to do this, but it appears I don’t need too, thank you!.....I’m wanting to install it as I have 3 dogs, would brushing sand into the laid turf hold the urine smells in?....and if so, how do I combat this please?...thank you x
Thanks for a great video, Ive been installing for a few years now. I am a Paver and Landscape constructionist by trade and self taught Synth turf installer with about 10 jobs under my belt (as you need to do everything in Landscape construction). The way you guys installed this turf is almost exactly how I do too and get good feedback. Fuck that Robert Hart coming in with his 2 cents of Bullshit

road base. Fine grade

@@Robert-cc4go ideally you want it on structural material that will not move over time.
Why using the dry sand on top any reason ?

Helps the blades stand up to make it look natural. Also weighs it down
so its ok to not have perimeter edging and only put nails around the seam? won't it lift up?
nails rust and create themselves a strong hold within the ground...it doesn't lift up unless you actually pull on it with a prybar.
what kind of turf is that?? name of it
Ok I had to reread the title because I thought it say do it yourself. This is not a do it yourself project. Is it really worth it?
Didn’t need a 2x4 base?
How are the edges secured down?
Metal spikes.
How do I calculate how much base gravel I need if I know my square footage and inches I want in depth.
