Like many Coldplay songs, "Clocks" is about love. The lyrics are about being in a conflicted, but very intense relationship as precious time slips away. Furthermore, this song is a comment on the moral crises we face on a daily basis, as reflected in the line: Am I part of the cure? Or am I part of the disease? Speaking about this lyric with MTV, Chris Martin said: "I reckon everybody in the world questions whether they're useful to the world or not." He continued: "Some people think they're doing marvelous things. Hitler thought he was doing great things for the world, and yet we'd all say, 'No, no, no, he was doing terrible things.' Some people would say that Coldplay is a great thing for music and the world. Other people would regard us as the devil incarnate, so of course it's always a conflict."
@@leeparks15 OMG the bracelets were amazing! It added so much to the experience! The only thing I didn't like is how rough the fabric is on the $50 t-shirt I bought. 🤣 Scratchy!! I wanted to see them so bad. I actually hopped on a plane to ATL in the morning, attended the show at night, and was back on a plane home by 9am the next day. My concert goals were strong for Coldplay! 🔥😉
I don't believe people hate Coldplay like they claim to. It became one of those cool things to say like disliking Eminem. I think it's because they became so big.
@@allbies i think it’s a similar situation to ed sheeran, truly great songs from years ago but the songs have become much more commercialised recently so it turns people off
Wife here..WOW..Love Coldplay and especially this song!!.., Amazing how time can put such perspective on a song..!!.." Am I part of the cure or a part of the disease"..Gets to me 2!!..also the line.."Home home where I wanted to roam"..On the road as a Musician he's missing out on important moments of home life..,
One of the most amazing songs ever made. It’s beautiful. Also, I’d recommend reviewing their live version the did in Toronto. One of their best, and one of the most chilling lives ever performed. You won’t be upset
Lots of good British bands out there from around this time. Stone Roses, Radiohead, Travis, Charlatans UK, Oasis, James, etc. What the British call "pop" music is better than what we call pop music here in the United States.
I saw them perform live and this song was incredible. He played that piano so fiercly on stage. His chair was duct taped to the stage so it wouldn't slide away!
This and Speed of sound are my fav Coldplay songs but they have so many...A sky full of stars live is fantastic too! The crowd are an integral part of the live version.
Great reaction! You guys described them perfectly. Coldplay - the king of earwarm songs, in a good way. 😄 Many to choose, but "The Scientist" is one of my favorites of theirs.
Already 20 years old... i was 7 when it released. Damn times flies. But i still remember the day i first heard it, since my Dad was and still is a big Coldplay fan.
Yes, Coldplay everyday! My other favorites are Yellow, The Scientist, Fix You, Viva La Vida (I think you have done) and every one of their other songs! Great request; great reaction. Again, thank you Asia and BJ for all that you are doing to entertain us 🥰. -Joni
Yep YELLOW & FIX YOU, are 2 of the best, and early work of COLPLAY. They are absolute classics. Pretty much everybody knows them, specially in Europe & South America. Yellow is from 22 yrs ago. I can't believe it. How time flies.
Clocks is actually ambiguous. Its full of double meanings. Love yes, but life as well. Coldplay are amazing. Viva la vida is banging! Speed of sound is good too.
The opening riff has been sampled many times and why you are likely familiar with it - but not the lyrics. It is a bit cryptic but lead singer Chris Martin said it boils down to how clocks tick ahead one second at a time at the same pace as always, but how we as humans are always seeing an urgency to time that can create a lot of confusion and problems when things don't go as speedily as we may like.
Love everything about this song and Coldplay. I've seen them 'live' a number of times and yes, Chris Martin plays the piano. I am happy and proud to have been born and live in Chris Martin's home city, Exeter. They (Coldplay) often come home to play local gigs, although the last time I saw them locally was in 2016 at Powderham Castle. They were amazing!
Awesome choice this is one of my favorite Coldplay songs. The song "Fix You " is another great song by Coldplay it is very emotional and always brings a tear to my eye
Chris Martin the writer lead singer plays the piano like Freddie Mercury so there's always gonna be piano in the mix.theg also use the visuals of videos to get the lyrics and or feel of the song across.
Hymn for the Weekend by Cold Play featuring Beyonce is good too. The video is Breathtaking ☺️🤩. You should definitely watch that one and you'll see what type of band they are.
Lead singer Chris Martin and American actress Gwyneth Paltrow married on 5 December 2003 in a quiet ceremony in the presence of their friends and family. Their daughter Apple was born in May 2004 in London. Paltrow filed for divorce in April 2015 and it was finalised on 14 July 2016.
The beginning might remind you of “When love takes oves” by Kelly Rowlland and David Guetta. It’s practiclly the same, only electronic, from what I remember.
Greatest band of the 21st century. Specially the earlier tunes, such as this. However you need the OFFICIAL VID as well. Different feel. I know you probably know these title songs, but anyway : "yellow", "the scientist", "fix you", "viva la vida" Jus listen to the composition of the songs, and the instrumentals of coldplay songs. Uplifting, melodic, euphoric, mesmerizing, relaxing, thought provoking. The current songs (past 10 yrs), although good, can't touch the early stuff. There is youtube videos of a particular tour in Rio De Jeniro Brazil. The live performances are great. Even if you don't react to them, just watch them later if you have spare time. However not before you react to the official songs first :))
Highly recommend reacting to their live performances. There famous worldwide and have been voted numerous times as the best live concert or the year. I recommend fix you in San paolo.
Just an incredible song! That piano. This is EARLY Coldplay. They were SO much better back then. Anything from this album “A Cold Rush a Blood to the Head” is phenomenal. Every single song. I no longer listen their stuff. They’ve become too commercialized. Which, unfortunately happens way too frequently. It’s all about money in the end.
I’m old enough to remember them in their early career. First three albums was their best work, I agree with you. I credit their expansion into electronic sounds, and they have made some decent pop tunes here and there! But the early stuff for me, is just on another level. It feels more ‘timeless.’
A great song by Coldplay. It takes my imagination away. I also love Coldplay’s ‘The Hardest Part’ (has possibly THE worst vid of all time 😅) and their beautiful song ‘Don’t Panic.’ I haven’t seen anyone react to those but they are great. Ty for this one though.
Check out some ‘Snow Patrol’ from the same era, very similar vibe. Suggest ‘Chasing cars’ or ‘ Run’(which you may know as it has been covered by loads of artists)
This song was massive when it came out - I remember the first time hearing this band, their break out song was “Yellow”. “ Trouble” was also another great song. Personally I prefer their earlier stuff.
@@stu2333 I like the first 4 albums, after that it became extremely commercial. X&Y is really good for me, Viva la vida became already quite commercial but still could vibe to it! ;)
The reason why you guys might think the intro/piano was so familiar is because there is another song sang by another artist that had the same if not similar sound to it and i know of the song but i forget the name of it and who sang it. So update i went through a rabbit hole. the song that im talking about is a david guetta song called when love takes over featuring kelly rowland the piano part yea when i first heard this david guetta song back then i immediately thought this is a coldplay rip off hahaha because i started listening to coldplay before the era of EDM music went bigger to what we know now

Hi Asia & BJ. Yes, this was a huge hit for Coldplay. I interpret the song title referring to time slipping away from us. That's just my perspective.

The music might sound familiar because Brandy sampled it in her song "Should I Go" back in the early 2000s.
My favorite Coldplay song!!
Yall have to do the remix with legendary Cuban band Buena Vista Social Club! Its a beautiful blend!
