Great review, just bought one myself this evening. I play rugby and weigh about 50lbs more than you so I often get shoulder and neck pain from being a side sleeper, what worked for me was having a single, thin down pillow and a memory foam pillow on top, no fancy contour shaped ones, just a regular pillow shaped one. Essentially to get it height wise so when your head has sunk into the pillow your head is aligned with your neck and your shoulders aren't too on the wonk and you'll be fine.
Totally agree with you. Over the last couple of years I had bought 4 sets of pillows to try and get the old mattress to deliver some decent sleep but to no avail. Went back and tried them all with the Emma and the big volume, firm but fluffy option means excellent sleep with my head at the right height for side sleeping.
Sending my Emma comfort premium hybrid back. Currently in the process. I'm almost 50 yrs with hip issues and hubby with bulging discs. This mattress is not for us, made my siatica worse and hubby is getting stiffer in the back up on getting up. It's a very very firm mattress. Good for younger people with no issues.
Yep have to agree it is a firm mattress. I hope you find a mattress that suits you both much better. BTW I am 66 and found that getting the pillows right has been a big part of taking the Emma from OK to Great, at least for me, but totally understand why it wouldn't work for everyone. A bit like Marmite methinks...

Great review. I’m thinking of getting one here in australia… but do they sleep hot? Ive read some reviews that they do and they have fixed the issue with the all new zero gravity mattress. How hot does it run?
Interestingly despite a couple of hot nights (it was actually 28 degrees C here in Scotland yesterday) I have not found the hybrid to run too hot and it is rare that I would wake up feeling hot on this mattress, so thumbs up for that...
