    I already have a home network with a Netgear main router and 2 ax1800 connected with cable. how can I extend the range of the network by adding another ax1800 wirelessly?

    • @tech-by-max
      @tech-by-max  3 роки тому

      You have an option in the AX1800's web admin interface to wirelessly extend an existing network. Just plug the power cord of your router and connect your PC to your router through an ethernet cable. Then access the web interface (should be accessible at 192.168.31.1) and there, you should see an option to wirelessly extend your existing network. You could check my video where I explain all the settings of the AX1800 (but in a WAN configuration so not what you are looking for but it still show you how to access) ua-cam.com/video/3dAcODFWvxg/v-deo.html Maybe it's possible to do it from a smartphone wirelessly just by pluging the power cord but I never tried it so I can't tell for sure. Hope that helps !

    In a mesh network with xiaomi routers, multiple nodes (such as wifi routers) form a single network with greater coverage.? Connecting devices can see only one network without any problem when roaming across the entire network?, for example, when you move with a client (for example a mobile), the mobile connects to each of the different nodes automatically? Thanks

    • @tech-by-max
      @tech-by-max  3 роки тому

      Sorry for the late answer, I didn't really understand the question the first time I read it. Yes, the mesh router makes only one big network and your devices are going to automatically switch to one another node according to which node provides the best bandwidth without you having to do anything. Hope it helps, thanks for watching !

      A mesh network could really help to get good speed and coverage inside all the house. Moreover, it does not cost that much if you use Xiaomi or Redmi devices for example. So yeah, would definitely recommend such setup. Hope I helped you, don't forget to subscribe to the channel if it is the case 🙂

    • @tech-by-max
      @tech-by-max  3 роки тому

      I heard that MESH won't work between a chinese version and a global version. Make sure that both of your routers are from the same region. If you bought different regions ones, you can try to set another firmware inside your router. I can't really help as I never went for a custom firmware with one of my routers but I am sure there are plenty of tutorials out there. If both are from the same region (which I doubt if that didn't work with the video), you can try to reset the routers again and follow the video once more.

    I have 2 Xiaomi ax1800 routers. I changed the firmware to the one that has the mesh node available (1.038 if I recall) to both of them. I press the mesh button and it says that it doesn't find the other router even if it is 1 inch away! I really don't know what to do!

    • @tech-by-max
      @tech-by-max  3 роки тому +1

      Make sure to upgrade both routers to the latest firmware available. Once it's done you can try to reset them. If you already tried this, try using the other router as master and the other one as node. If it still doesn't work, you can reach up Xiaomi through email, chat or phone thanks to this link www.mi.com/global/support/contact/ Hope it helps, thanks for watching the video 🙂

For such things, we would have to get access to the proprietary firmware and check what's inside and I don't think it's possible. So we have the people that don't want to trust and the ones that do, it's a tough question but I hope you get what I mean when I say I can't really try to light you about it, it's because I have no idea and I don't want to tell you something I am not sure about" - Thanks for watching the video !

      I don't think there is a limit for the number of mesh nodes you can add to a mesh network. My rooms are a few meters away from one another so a mesh network doesn't really make sense for me, that's why I chose to not talk about range in my video as I can't really test it. I appreciate your reply, thank you! Another related question is: since they are different brands/models, and since the ax6 has higher specs than the ax1800, in a mesh with this combination/ hybrid set up, do i get the speed and capacity of the ax6 (248 devices) since it is the one with higher specs?

    • @tech-by-max
      @tech-by-max  3 роки тому +1

      The capacity of the routers are somewhat theoric as those are laboratories numbers. You will be able to connect almost as many devices as the router supports it if your devices are closer to this router or the other. Mesh helps creating a single network between the 2 routers but you are still limited by the closer routher from your device as it will be the one your devices connect to. Honestly though, you have a lot of space to go, even with close to 128 devices as I do use a lot of smart devices and I am far far away from this number 🙂

    2nd floor (node ax1800 - connected to parent wirelessly)
    1st floor (node ax1800 - connected to 2nd floor node wirelessly)
    additional questions (if it would work):
    a) will I experience a great loss of speed in the first floor in this setup?
    b) may I know the disadvantages of this setup

    • @tech-by-max
      @tech-by-max  2 роки тому +1

      It should work just fine. I think I read you could add up to 8 nodes in a mesh network, so you're good to go.
      A node doesn't need to be in the main router's range if there is already another node in the node range closer to it, that's why mesh is powerful.
      Obviously, you will lose a bit of speed as it is all over wireless but it should not be that bad and the coverage should be very good all over your house.
