Where George says "sounds like Hendrix"...that chord is the 7sharp9, also known at the Hendrix Chord! Good ear, George!
I was going to say the same thing. There's a reason why people say so and so sounds like Hendrix. It's because he invented an entirely unique sound. Not only with his overdriven amps and style, but he was plating things others simply hadn't though of yet. I love throwing that "Hendrix chord" in blues riff now and then to add some dirt to the groove. That and a fast vibrato, string bending mania.
the chorus is very hendrix like as well, they even said it in their interview not long ago
@@helmedon he brought jazz chords in rock music really. A dominant in 7 sharp 9 is a pretty common jazz chord. Still innovative, love Hendrix.
I was into Zombie and Hendrix back in the day. When George made the comparison I heard it instantly for the first time! Great ear & great musical range, Fam!
@@kalebbaquera1633 Yeah, it's always neat to bring things common to other genres into one another. That's basically how rock & roll started. Listening to progressive rock or metal always fascinates me. It's like "why has nobody thought of that before"?
this entire album is killer, you won't find a bad track on it.
lol this is so true i was listeningn to them for the first time i listen to the entire album no skips everysong has such a good sound
The best groove metal album, for sure. Too bad the band could never make another, mostly thanks to Rob being a tool.
Black Sunshine and Soul-Crusher are my favorites off this album!
Mine as well
same here!
"400 horsepower of maximum performance"...
Funny how that kind of power figure isn't shit these days with 1000+ being the benchmark now. God, I loved that song as a kid though...
Agreed
White Zombie - Cosmic Monsters Inc.
1000000000x better than this song
I love their older stuff when they had Sean Yseult on bass
Was she not on ALL of the White Zombie albums? I know she wasn't a part of the "Rob Zombie era", but I thought she was with the band for its entire history?
@@maynarddrivesfast804 She was, I mispoke and was comparing it to the later Rob Zombie band
Goddess of Groove.
Plus I found her easy on the eye ☺️
They had like 4 garbage albums before Le Sex.
Black Sunshine!! Same album and a superior groove with a super rad monologue from Iggy Pop
My favorite off this album!
As much as I love Black Sunshine I think George may find the Iggy Pop monologue distracting.
@@665don667 I could see how but there's so much cool and it's only at the front and the back as bookends and not mingled in throughout, so who knows.
I watch that baby every day for maximum performance
I think they already did black sunshine a while back
THIS is the White Zombie record to own, bought it the day it came out. They 100% use all the samples live and it always gave a theatrical element to the shows back then.
I've been yelling at the screen for years to have you play this! I knew you guys would like it! The whole album is good.
Lol same. Since 2019. Cosmic Inc, Welcome to Planet Motherfucker are a few others from the album I think they would def enjoy.
Me too I remember posting comments about this song almost 2 years ago haha
The album is good?! This album is fantastic, straight up bangers
White Zombie - Cosmic Monsters Inc.
1000000000x better than this song
In the 90s High Times magazine did a study about which songs made potheads drive the fastest and Thunderkiss was number 1.
This is one of those albums where each song rolls into the next. You can literally just press play and enjoy. Full face-melting metal with no filler!
This is a pretty great album... you could check out "Black Sunshine" (another single from this album), "Thrust!", or "Starface" for some solid choices... go with "Soul-Crusher" "Cosmic Monsters Inc." or "Spiderbaby" for something a little more risky ventures... but the whole album is a pretty safe bet.
Cosmic Monsters gets my vote
Black Sunshine is my favourite. That riff.
@@johnbehan1526 The best
I vote for Soul Crusher!
love black sunshine and iggy pop doing the intro is excellent.
I saw this live when it first came out. The entire room exploded. Everyone was dancing and grooving. Not just the people up front, or the most pit, but wall to wall, front to back, everyone was moving.
As a lifelong fan of Rob and White Zombie it brings me heartwarming and genuine pleasure to see yall enjoy this song. It represents to me, a lot of what there is to enjoy about music in general. It retains the coolness factor after 30 years across such a wide cross section of music listeners.
Much to enjoy on the album. I'll echo Black Sunshine as a good follow up listen.
His live show is incredible too, every song is its own stage production/ music video
White Zombie - Cosmic Monsters Inc.
1000000000x better than this song
The whole CD top to bottom is a rager, the CD before it shows the hyper speed evolution to this CD interesting to hear it evolve on thru hell Billy deluxe.
LOVE that you guys are reacting to White Zombie. They’re one of my favorite bands of all time, and I saw them live about 5 or 6 times during the ‘90s. They were early pioneers of Groove Metal, and were highly influential to so many bands coming out of that era.
This is a "stop what you're doing and watch right now" video.
Top five favorite rock beats of all time, hands down. If you can't bang your head to Thunderkiss 65, just give up.
This whole album grooves like that from start to finish and all the weird dialog samples don't seem so out of place when you hear the whole album. La Sexorcisto has a permanent spot in my top five albums of all time.
The audio samples don't seem out of place at anytime. It's also a trait Rob borrowed from Industrial music.
agreed, mine too. for me this is the embodiement of metal music to dance by
@@jandeklerk871or strip to 😂
Yeah when you understand that the album is thematically an auditory version of a hyper trashy B movie from the 60's-70's, the clips from said trashy films fit right in.
Yeah, this is just fundamental psychedelic head-nodding groove metal right here.
Have you guys done Monster Magnet yet? Space Lord or Heads Explode is a necessity if this hit the spot.
Yes! Monster Magnet! Gotta go with Dopes to Infinity!
space lord
Monster magnet would be awesome. I'm sure they'd love space Lord but I would definitely prefer to see them react to something of dopes to infinty
YES! Dopes To Infinity, such a BEAST of an album! You could start at the first song and just go one after the other. SPACE GROOVE METAL! I like the 25.....Tab album as well for those long road trips. Together with The BEASTIE Boys In Sound From Way Out album, my trips are smooth.
@@theidajawho Oh shit! I love that Beastie album! I haven’t listened to it in forever. It’s going on my playlist for tomorrow.
I'm 58. Saw them live a couple of times. This song really did it for me and my friends. We went to RATM, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, early RHCP, G& Roses, Ozzy, Suicidal, Metallica, Alice in Chains and sooo many more bands. All seen in Amsterdam, Paradiso and Melkweg. Man, what a great time that was. This sing reminds me of one of the most exciting times, musically, of my life. Still seeing the same friends i went to them concerts with. Now i'm unfortenately dying with cancer. But, man, did i enjoy listening to this music. And still am. To all music thats good! Cheers mates for your uplifting posts, love it.🤘😀❤
White Zombie was so unique when it came out, they made their own genre...I call it disco metal. When Zombie went solo he lost the soulish groove. Many of their pictures/videos feature '60s or 70s go-go dancers. Rob is a huge movie buff, loves the old horror stuff and has produced his own that have done fairly well. Really talented guy.
When I was 14 I took guitar lessons from Myles Kennedy and at the front desk of the music store there was stack of contest slips to fill out to win backstage passes to White Zombie. I wasn’t old enough so I had my dad fill one out when he picked me up and we won! I got to go to my first concert and meet the band. If Rob had acted like he gave a crap when we met him afterwards, it would have been a pretty epic first show. lol.
Don't feel bad, Rob treats everyone like crap.
Technical skill and songwriting ability aside, don't forget the million dollar question for classic heavy metal: would you crank up the tape deck in your car to bang it?
if you feel an impulse to turn up the volume as soon as you hear the riff, its a good song. regardless of who performs it
White Zombie - Cosmic Monsters Inc.
1000000000x better than this song
Dude, drove from Arizona to Pennsylvania, Hellbilly Deluxe was in the CD Player, with my 2 young boys in the Back Seat (Rocking Out) and navigating for my Husband driving the U-Haul behind us. What a BLAST 😂🤩!!!
If you like his lyrical flow in this you will love "Electric Head pt 2"
He grooves on that like nobody's business
On point
Rob is a huge movie and anime fanatic. Dialogue excerpts and sound effects from all kinds of shows and movies are just his thing, and it occurs all throughout (almost) every album in his career. And yes those elements were even done live, but there was more to it with live videos on screens giving the audience a reference point if they didn't know the source material. But the songs were also longer live as well, at least back then. Also when Rob went solo and White Zombie ended after the tour of Astro Creep 2000, there's more of an infusion of electronics and samples as well as dialogue and sound effects!
Definitely any song from La Sexorcisto is a gem! Can't go wrong with any of them. I recommend
Warp Asylum...slow heavy galaxy crushing rhythm and trance like melody with haunting soul crunching tones and vocals!
Such a cool song, love the bass line brought to us by the talented lady Sean Yseult who has played in a few different bands and always brings it.
Sean Ee-sough.
White Zombie never came close to touching the awesomeness of this album ever again.... Nothing they did before or after came close to capturing the sleezy, psyche, exploitation vibe of Rob's influences like these tracks. Pure lightning in a bottle!
....The way Sean's bass is cranked so high up in the mix with her killer tone is so sick too.
Great f'n tune! Anybody can groove to this...I LOVE the bass groove in this tune
You guys commented that you did not think that they would play the talking in the background at a live show but in fact they really do and it added so much to the live experience.... They also have all the sound effects live at the GWAR concerts as well. You guys really need to jump back into some old GWAR songs.
This whole album is filled with samples. It was part of their sound. They used to use the samples in live shows too.
It's not earth shattering, it's just catchy and you find yourself enjoying the groove. That's the best you can say about anything Rob Zombie does musically.... you'll find yourself getting sucked in.
Rob Zombie does a lot of crazy stuff as a producer. A lot of interesting things to change the entire tone and feel of songs.
I agree Casey. Well said. #GOPACKGO
Yeah pretty spot on….I am not a fan of the sound, vocals, or electronics!
It’s not metal to me!
Just a solid meat & potatoes band man, and will always be fun to listen to. I think part of it is just how cool Rob Zombie himself is
@@seikojin never in any of my tops anywhere but when ever I listen to them it’s absolutely a great time hahahahahahaha. Well said.
My favorite ❤guy🥰band🥳song🎉🤟🤟🤟
“Black Sunshine” is another great one off that album.
Yup.
Rob has a sweet voice and growl, he did lay the road for other bands like Slipknot and Lamb of God. He is more like industrial thrash. Rob also had mad flow. Welcome to Planet Mother Fucker is another good jam on this album and so is Soul crusher.
This whole album absolutely rocks. One if those that you can play from beginning to end without skipping.
What's the name of this album?
The whole album jams. Try "Black Sunshine" next!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
Ya'll absolutely should check out the opening track of this album, "Welcome to Planet M.F./Psycholic Slag"
Also Black Sunshine is def a top 10 track to play while driving
That opening track is one of my favorites from White Zombie tbh
Welcome to Planet MFer is the bomb
This album was a breath of fresh air for metal, by this time thrash metal had become stale and boring. The samples are from from the movie Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill
This entire album is a masterpiece!!
I love the song and love the women dancing in the videos. I saw Rob Zombie in concert awhile back. Opened for Ozzie. Great concert. I watched the episode of “ Counting cars” Rob was on. He seems like a down to earth, regular kind of guy who happens to be a great musician and artist. Rock on Rob.
I've had this song on my gym playlist for ages. The easy, constant groove is great when doing any sort of weightlifting.
Saw them in San Antonio at the Live Oak civic center right after this song hit. Couple hundred at the show and up close and personal, what a great time!!!
"Living Dead Girl" and "Ratfinks, Suicide Tanks and Cannibal Girls" are two I'd DEFINITELY recommend! Don't think you'll be disappointed with either of these
so glad i got to see them live, twice, back to back nights, different cities.. great performance.
I'm glad that George clarified his comments: it ALMOST sounded like he was calling this song Classic Rock. A song from the '90s. I was about ready to get up (slowly) and smack him a good one with my walker.
.
Kids these days...
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol. Well these days we're hearing Nirvana and U2 on the "classic rock" stations, so if that's the case could this song not be considered classic rock? I think soon we will have to change the definition of classic rock. Maybe we can start defining bands by 60's or 70's rock?
This guy is fire in concert! Literal and metaphorically!!! Haha! Great shows each and every time!!!
Zombie's "I'm your Boogie Man" is a fantastic song/video too, especially if you listen to the original song first. Its a cover of a KC and the Sunshine Band's song of all things.
NOTHING LIKE 60s ROCK. I lived it. Still rock and roll at 64! Y’all crack me up with some of your perceptions. ☮️❤️
I love White Zombie, Rob's stuff is hit & miss.
First concert ever. White Zombie, Melvins and Reverend Horton Heat in 95
White Zombie has a very original sound!!!
This song was also used as the intro theme song to the original ECW weekly wrestling program (ECW Hardcore TV) in the mid-late 90s. 🤟
this song was used in ECW for a LONG TIME!!
You guys are the best! I love how you guys are so honest and insightful. I don't someone to confirm for me my musical tastes. You guys never pander to tell people what they want to hear. I don't care if you like or dislike what I like or I dislike... I already know what I like or dislike. I love your perspective and insight. I learn form you guys and see things in ways I hadn't thought of. Thanks Ryan and George!
Right man, there are so many in the reaction game that overdo it something ridiculous. Overreact to the point of pandering and whatnot. I like these guys because they’ll let you know if they ain’t feeling the song but it goes beyond them just reacting, they’re both insightful and thoughtful of their reactions as well.
@@daimingburai I completely agree, Murphy.
I love the groove and cadence of Rob in this song
I saw this band, around this era, at the old 9:30 Club at 9:30 F Street in Washington DC. What.a night that was!
"Soul Crusher" off of this album is insane
One of my favorites when I was teenager.
Also I had a crush on their female bass player at the time.
Rob Zombie was known as the king of thrash back in the 90's.
it's a catchy, goofy song, lyrics almost don't matter, it's just a cool heavy groove for the sake of it
The lyrics are 🔥
Of all the reactions from people listening too my music for the first time, you two ard my favorites!! Love seeing your souls catch fire🔥🔥🔥🔥
White Zombie was definitely a precursor to Nu Metal IMO....and I say that in a complimentary way.
agreed
First heard this song in 1994-1995 while watching ECW.
When this song/album it was at the beginning of Modern/alternate Rock. Tool was another hard rock alternative band that came out around this time.
They were considered "alternative metal" when this came out -- the riffs were heavy but catchy, and wouldn't have been out of place alongside Motley Crue's "Dr. Feelgood"; the sampling (and, later, keyboards) pointed toward industrial metal, but their whole schtick seemed to reach back toward the analog past; Rob's lyrics frequently reference everything which the PMRC slapped warning labels on metal records for... but it was all done with tongue firmly planted in cheek. There just wasn't anyone like them out there, so... "alternative metal."
i used to drive with this song cranked at 2 in the morning in apopka florida with a cold beer at my side plus 11 more man the 80s were awesome also no one was on the road that late thank god what a sleepy town
Their best album for sure. So hard yet groovy. Cool reaction. Now please do another Clutch reaction to a better song. They deserve a redo.
La Currandera from Blast Tyrant would be perfect. Or Wake of the Swollen Goat
They need to do Subtle Hustle or DC Sound Attack
for sure man, clutch is right up their alley. I don't know why they started with regulator or why they haven't revisited them but they need to get back to them. there's so many songs they'd like LOL
Agreed on Clutch. Maybe keep it simple and go with Electric Worry. "That's your 'Ace of Spades'" - Lemmy
@@Andy94SC yeah, NO. Haven't there been enough bad clutch choices. I would love for them to do 12 oz epiloque or Muchas veces, but I don't think they are ready for that. Subtle Hustle, crucial velocity, x-ray visions, cypress Grove, firebirds or never be moved might be better. Electric worry is just meh, in my opinion.
I will Always remember going to see White Zombie live, 5 guys packed into a car with this tune blasting and all of us head banging so hard that the car was hopping/jerking while I was driving. Good Times.
This whole album is one that you blast while driving with the windows down. It's bubblegum pop metal with a killer groove and it always puts me in a better mood.
Bubblegum pop? Never saw it as that but to each their own
Rob zombie is a huge horror film fan so he likes to add that in his music his albums yes he does this live in concerts and now he writes horror films in Hollywood and make soundtracks.
The whole album is amazing!! Pick any song on the album and it's gonna be rad! 🤘🏻
Considering I graduated in '91, this is classic! I remember jamming out to this when it came out.
Black Sunshine
Same album
I was just jamming this song in my truck today..Im 52 now and still will be when Im 80
Jay yuenger the guitarist and Sean Yseult the bassist were amazing and I'm sad they never did anything significant after white zombie.
I grew up with Jay in Chicago. His father worked for the Chicago Tribune and his mother sang opera. Never would I imagined him becoming “J”
I saw White Zombie in concert on Halloween in '92 at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater in Irvine, CA when the opened for Danzig
My favorite songsfrom this album is "Black Sunshine" & "Cosmic Monsters Inc"
That whole background talking/recoding thing was really common in the late 80s to early 90s. Many pop and rock bands copied that for some reason.
A lot of it is dialogue from classic B- movies, in this case from the Russ Meyers movie "Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" I think Skinny Puppy and Ministry were a big part of starting that trend.
@@jbirkins for sure Ministry. New World Order is a shining example.
"This is the end of your life, you motherfuckin' doooooooo -"
If you like this song you will LOVE Black Sunshine
The whole album is killer first song you should check out welcome to Planet m***********
long version, not short video version.
I love seeing guys discover White Zombie, everything they did bangs
One of the best albums ever when you're getting drowsy on a road trip !
Love this song as a rap fan... my dad loves rock music and rap music... so ik a lot of rock music from him
“J.” Was White Zombie’s guitarist on this album and he wrote a groove metal masterpiece. Literally every song on this album is full of monster riffs. It’s incredible. Sadly, Rob Zombie fired J. and the rest of the band and went pop synth industrial and he’s been awful since.
I love Sean Y’s bass line on this song too. Shame Rob didn’t keep the band together.
To me Jay Yuenger has always been the reason this record was so 🔥. He went on to produce some other records and it's always made me wonder if he produced this too.
I absolutely 100% agree and wholeheartedly appreciate your comment. Rob without Sean, J and John/Ivan is garbage.
I read Yseult's book. It wasn't pretty. I have a hard time believing that groupie-turned-wife Sheri Moon didn't have some jealousy issues w/Sean for her previous relationship w/Rob, and that it (probably) negatively affected the band's dynamic. Sheri is a terrible "actress", btw. Can't stand her.
I agree, Rob Zombie sucks compared to White Zombie. Easily one of the best rock bands of the 90s
By far one of the best concerts I've been to❤️🤘thanks guys🤗
It's a real shame this band didn't continue after 98 when Rob came out with his first solo record. Him and the band don't get along, and if you hear his side of the story combined with the revolver interview for the 25th anniversary for this record with the band, it seems Rob was just done. Touring extensively took a toll on this bands relationship. Love their music way more than Robs solo work.
I agree.
I think it comes down to he and Seana dated for years. When they broke up he was stuck in a band with his girlfriend. I think J was much closer to her then Rob so that caused the fall out between them
Absolutely fascinated by the Jimi analog. Would love to hear more on that. Very very awesome take.
I love this song. It has an awesome groove. I still think Electric Head, Part 1 (The Agony) off of the album Astro Creep 2000 is better.
You hit the nail on the head about borderline/mixed genres. It’s interesting but not often mainstream, it is certainly an acquired taste and you either love it or hate it.
Rob Zombie bringing the Club Rock!
Muse - Knights of Cydonia, still my pick.
I don’t think they’ll enjoy it but would be interesting to see their reaction.
They haven't done that one but they did Uprising, as well as their latest single.
I saw Rob Zombie in concert and when this song played, I crowd surfed for thr first time and it was one of my favorite memories!
Imagine how novel this sounded after a decade of hair metal.
Seriously. I'd throw Ministry out there as another band that was a paradigm shift from the glittery excess of the hair metal era.
I never really understand comments like this. There were plenty of bands who weren't the glam bands: Jane's addiction, Corrosion of conformity, Nine inch nails, Faith no more, The Pixies, Danzig, U2, REM, Suicidal tendencies, the thrash bands.
@@maynarddrivesfast804 Jesus DID build my hot rod! But I only heard Ministry because I had one friend in high school whose dad worked at a radio station, and he got all the stuff they were sent, but wouldn’t play on the radio.
@@MrOctober44 Perhaps, but in my rural part of the South, we went from Guns N’ Roses to Nirvana on the radio, and there was nothing in between. And that was the only non-country music on the air. MTV was already turning into a joke, and there was no internet.
Never saw White Zombie but when Rob first started his solo career I saw him perform this with Kerry King from Slayer on guitar. That riff was extra crunchy that night.
This was Rave music for kids that didn't like Techno
🤔
Speaking as one of them, I'd say this was for metal kids who went to raves but ok
My first concert 28 years ago was white zombie
One of my favorite albums of all time!!! Its that way all the way through and you guys should hear it all!!! Please do that!
I remember when this song BLEW UP! bought the CD of course...was my first exposure to White Zombie/Rob Zombie---fan for life
OH! Listen to his brother's band... Powerman 5000 "When World's Collide" is so awesome Rob Zombie's brother is aptly named "Spider One"
I had the honor of spending a couple hours with the drummer, Ivan de Prume back to Februrary. My mom made him dinner and he watched as me and my brother played a few songs, then he thrashed my drum kit! I was never so proud to have it beaten up before lol
My favorite album of all time !!!! It’s got everything. It’s lightning in a bottle.
This album is one of my top 5 favorite albums of all time for any band. It's awesome. Cosmic Monsters Inc might be my favorite on the album. Highly recommend checking out some other songs on there.
Love watching you two delve into and try to understand genres of music outside your realm of "playlist".
Every time I hear this now it takes me back to the first Guitar Hero as a kid
I was into 60's and 70's rock back in 92 when I discovered this, and you're dead on, it spoke to me as something of a modern throwback. I've been a huge fan of White/Rob Zombie since, I still listen to Rob's latest stuff and the old stuff.
Ayyyyyy I'm a Raiders fan and my husband is a Bears fan.. love seeing people rock their gear! Great video (as always!) on a great song.
I love the way you guys have evolved in your reactions to heavy metal.
One of my all time favorite songs.
1992 my head exploded as far as genres thanks to grunge, Lollapalooza, all the crossover bands. I threw my filter away and we just enjoyed music that year.
