Here's the thing about incubus: you'll never be bored. They're phenomenal about trying something new and dragging you with them. I'd love to see y'all react to more.
This was the first album I ever bought on release date. My mom took me to Best Buy and dropped me off at school late so I could listen throughout the day. 7th grade 😂. I think you guys would appreciate SCIENCE and Fungus Amongus. Definitely a lot heavier with jazz, funk, hip hop, and metal influences. Brandon basically was a melodic rapper in the beginning lol. Incubus is truly making genre-less music 🙌🏿
Start to finish. Morning view sessions was and still is one of my favorite music “DVDs.” I think dudes would like watching that or at least some clips.
The turntable is a main instrument on their album SCIENCE. That's easily my favorite album by them. I've enjoyed them ok afterward but SCIENCE is a monster.
Redefine would be a good song for you guys to react to. You would get to see the heavier more experimental side of Incubus… really any song off of SCIENCE would do the trick
I'm 61 but when this group came out I realized they are outstanding musicians, one of my favorite songs by my favorite reaction duo, nice. Nice to know you is great too
If you wanna dig deep into Incubus, check out "The Warmth", "Certain Shade of Green", "New Skin", "Pardon Me", "Stellar", "Summer Romance"... hell, I could go on all day. They were one of my big favorites back in High School in the late '90's/early '00s.
might not be the most technical song out there but goddamn the vibes are incredible, takes you back to those carefree summers of the early 00s. So good.
Make Yourself was their breakthrough album, with the massive hit "Drive", which you had to have heard. This album was the follow up album. Several big hits on this one. Lyrically, they are an exceptional band. Check out "Stellar" or "The Warmth".
This album is masterful. No skips at all. Brandon Boyd is masterful in his control. His voice is an instrument as much as it is a voice, and not a lot of bands can say that exact thing.
4:10 Incubus were one of the earlier, if not first Rock Bands to have a turntablist in the Band, way before Lincoln Park etc...they don't get credited enough for that. DJ Kilmore Joined In 98' and elevated their sound even more with his talent, plays keys and a few other instruments besides the Tables. (DJ Lyfe was the original).
This song always hits me, while deployed in 04, they played this before every movie in the anaconda theater. It was a montage of all those we had lost to the war.
Wow, that's rough. Although it's cool that they did this for people and acknowledged the loses, instead of ignoring it and just pretending like everything is fine. That never makes anything better.
When Incubus dropped “Science” in 97 they started playing “New Skin” on WAAF in Worcester/Boston, MA and I thought it was Faith No More which was then, and is now, one of my favorite bands. That track is fantastic and is the first song that got them any significant traction. I’ve been a fan since.
This album is timeless. Incubus has some many good deep cut songs. Pistola, Just a Phase, Sick Sad Little world, the Warmth, Warning, privilege, nowhere fast, vitamin, certain shade of green...
One of my favorite tunes by these guys. To be honest... one of the reasons I loved these guys was because of the seamless integration of the turntable. It's just always tasty.
Im a huge metal head and listen to a lot of super heavy stuff...but Incubus is still one of my favorite bands ever. They just flat out right good music. Stellar is a track y'all will...Dig...
Pardon Me was the first song I remember by Incubus. I've liked pretty much everything they've released, and I give them extra points for naming their first album Fungus Amongus. I've literally repeated that every time I saw a mushroom thoughout my life. The Fungus Amongus.
This song has been on my playlist for years. The music is great, but especially the sentiment of the lyrics is so peaceful and positive without being cheesy. Who hasn't had a moment of peace and beauty that you didn't wish you could share with someone you cared about?
So many good songs, but I really think you guys would love "Are You In?. It's not one of their bigger hits, but I feel like all of the elements in that song would hit all or your hot buttons... Good groove, great bass work... It's a solid deep cut.
This song, for whatever reason, makes me feel some kind of way. Puts a tear in my eye. Not sure if it's because the guy in the story is happy and I am not, or I wish I had my toes in the sand, chillin out on the beach with no stress...It's strange how some songs kinda hit you that way.
I know exactly what you mean. Like the line "I wish you were here" sounds like longing for something you don't have. Longing for a time that doesn't exist anymore. And BOOM. Just like that. You're not happy but the singer is. Lol.
This song is awesome. My Dad played this all the time in the 90’s when I was a kid. He was born in 66 so he was in his early 30’s at that point. Born in 91 he and I were able to merge and agree in the sounds and genres of music we listened to during those times. Such a good building block for a father and son relationship.
I was in a cover band for 10 years until Covid hit. We covered a few Incubus songs as well as The Warmth. One of my all time favorite Incubus tracks. 🐋🔥
I love Incubus! that ethereal sound you were talking about is kind of their signature thing, combined with the turntable effects. their music is great to put on to just be chill and groove to. not everything that sounds good has to be difficult or complex, it just has to be good and make you feel good. ❤
And the best thing about these guys is that they sound exactly like their record when they're live! I was so glad that I got to see them in MT before the lockdown. I've wanted to see them for YEARS...& they did NOT disappoint!! LOVE Incubus!!
This was a follow-up to "Make Yourself", which was their break out album. All the songs on "Morning View" are bangers! One of the few albums I can listen to all the way through. You could randomly point at a song and like it. Give "Drive" a listen from this album.
Love Incubus. They've built my sister and my relationship with each other. Any time they play near us we'll go see them, and it's strengthened our bond over the years. You can always tell you're seeing a timeless band when you see them live and their audience is diverse enough to cover all walks of life.
This whole record is awesome. Their previous album, "Make Yourself" was their breakout album with singles that gave them national and international attention but "Morning View" (named after the road in Calabasas, CA that the house was on where they recorded this album) carried them to new heights.
Incubus is one of my favorite bands of all time! This album was one of my most played during my childhood. Morning View and Make Yourself and perfect, no skips type of albums. Their newer stuff isn’t as exciting, but they haven’t put out a single bad project. even their older, more experimental type stuff is still a fun listen. Incubus really knows how to create a vibe with their music. they’re very rhythmic in their approach with the guitar and bass laying down the framework, and Brandon Boyd providing that awesome melodic touch with his incredible voice. and the way the guitarist Mike breaks away from the rhythm and incorporates those melodic runs makes him a very unique and underrated player. And DJ Killmore is instrumental in their sound, he helps create the atmosphere with his sampling and scratching. Incubus really knows how to make catchy, emotional, vibey music. and they are very well respected in the history of alternative rock. Songs y’all need to check out: “Nowhere Fast”, “When It Comes”, “Make Yourself”, “Nice To Know You”, “Have You Ever”, “Sick Sad Little World”, “Talk Shows On Mute”…I could go on forever
Pretty much my most played alternative band at this moment! Incubus write smart, introspective lyrics, Mike is a killer guitarist and great vocals from Brandon! They have the ability to rock hard, all the while adding touches of great beauty......and yes, George and Ryan...even some scratching! Total package! .. ...
Been listening to incubus since they started, and that particular song still gives me goosebumps...I reckon, when it comes to music, technicality for most people is irrelevant, it's how the music makes you feel.
Scratching was right at home in the Incubus sound. LOVE this band and Ryan will dig having their whole catalog on his playlist. After you get through the popular tunes, go for some deep cuts like Sick Sad Little World and Pendulous Threads.
Glad to see you revisit Incubus. Morning view is a great album. Lots of gems on that one. I thoroughly recommend Just a phase. It's among their more unorthodox songs.
I’ve been an Incubus fan from the beginning in the mid to late ‘90’s. I lost my daughter in 2016 and this song was played at her funeral and will always be a reminder of the fact she’s gone and I will always miss her. Baby, I wish you were here!
I'm not a big Incubus fan but they are such a nostalgic band for me & I have a soft spot for them. I was at uni when this came out & there was a girl I really liked & this song always made me think of her but she didn't like me so it was a really emotive song for me. Although on reflection she clearly had good taste lol.
S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Had a lot more DJ work going on that was fantastic. Certain Shade of Green is an awesome song. I had this album on tape in high school and wore it out!
Awesome band. I don't even think that i've even listened to all of their albums. Their ballads are beeaaauuuutiful. Southern Girl. Here In My Room. Echo is ballad-y. Super sexy. Beautiful.
The turntable doesn't sound bad, it's just the thing that dates it the most. You laugh first purely because you remember the era and then a second later you realize it kind of rules and that era actually had its charms
it "dates the song, huh. well, yeah...you got that right. let's you know it's made when music (rock, specifically) was actually good. i hear that shit ...... and I know I'm home! ahhhh!
This is one of their many great "commercial" hits, but by far my favorite Incubus album is S.C.I.E.N.C.E, every song is a banger but my favorites are "A Certain Shade of Green" "Nebula" "Deep Inside". Please check one of these songs out!
Incubus had 3 albums before Morning View - the first 2 were moderately successful and had a bit of an underground following with the 2nd album having a couple of hits. Their style/sound changed quite a bit between the 2nd and 3rd album too (they were slightly more ska/punk/nu-metal imo on the first 2 albums - think early RHCP, big inspiration for Incubus). The 3rd album really catapulted them though with songs like 'Drive' and 'Pardon Me' and Morning View continued, if not elevated them even more. So many good songs on that album.
I’m so happy you guys came back to Incubus. They are my favorite band of all time. Went to their 20 yrs of make yourself concert back in 2019 at Radio City. It was amazing. Dig is my all time favorite song. You guys should listen to Sick Sad Little World. Another one of my favorites and Adolescents is a great song too.
So their breakout album you could say is Make Yourself, as that had their biggest hit to date on it, titled Drive. It was their second studio album, being released two years after S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Incubus did have an album prior to S.C.I.E.N.C.E. called Fungus Among Us, but for some reason that’s not counted among their studio albums. Make Yourself also had Pardon Me and Stellar, and all these hits were way more radio-friendly than anything we’d seen from Incubus before. So it’s gotta be Make Yourself for the band’s “breakout” album. Peace.
Pistola, Priceless, pendulous threads, rogues, sick sad little world are def songs on their latter catalogue that flex their musicality and "knock it out the park" like you can hear how tight the band instrumentation can get. Def some of their best moments in those songs.
I'm glad you guys have come back to Incubus. If y'all have the time for a trip, they'll be in Paso Robles, CA on Thursday and at Red Rocks in Colorado on Sunday. Almost all of their music has that feel good flow, great transitions, and overall listenability.
Here's the thing about incubus: you'll never be bored. They're phenomenal about trying something new and dragging you with them.
I'd love to see y'all react to more.
incubus is and will forever be my favorite band of all time
This album is a classic! NO SKIPS! The entire album still in rotation for me in 2022.
Fact.
Right there with you!
REACT TO " OBITUARY - BLINDSIDED " PLEASEEEEEEEEEE 🙏😭 Yall are going to enjoy it ALOT heavy & groovy.
It’s such a summer vibe song! Gotta love incubus for their ability to transport you to a beach with their words.
Exactly! I actually listened to it on a beach…it was 20 years ago and I can still remember it. Just shows you the power of music.
agreed :)
REACT TO " OBITUARY - BLINDSIDED " PLEASEEEEEEEEEE 🙏😭 Yall are going to enjoy it ALOT heavy & groovy.
"I dig my toes into the sand..." Instant mental teleportation to the beach.
The turntable is a main instrument on their album SCIENCE. That's easily my favorite album by them. I've enjoyed them ok afterward but SCIENCE is a monster.
Redefine would be a good song for you guys to react to. You would get to see the heavier more
experimental side of Incubus… really any song off of SCIENCE would do the trick
Summer Romance (Anti-Gravity) all day
Deep Inside
Albatros
New Skin and Vitamin were both on a video game Test Drive Offroad 3 - first introduced me to the band.
BANGER, BANGER, BANGER, BANGER, BANGER, BANGER, BANGER, BANGER
Yes!!! The Warmth and Stellar my two favourites!!
Hell yes!
Summer romance is groovy af
I'd say Anna Molly too!
might not be the most technical song out there but goddamn the vibes are incredible, takes you back to those carefree summers of the early 00s. So good.
Make Yourself was their breakthrough album, with the massive hit "Drive", which you had to have heard. This album was the follow up album. Several big hits on this one. Lyrically, they are an exceptional band. Check out "Stellar" or "The Warmth".
Love this whole album. Privilege, nowhere fast and the warmth are my faves.
Stellar 🔥
So good!
Also will you guys give us your thoughts on( Custom) HEY MISTER is the name of the song
"Make yourself" is a song i live my life by! Lol
This album is masterful. No skips at all. Brandon Boyd is masterful in his control. His voice is an instrument as much as it is a voice, and not a lot of bands can say that exact thing.
"Pardon Me" and "Stellar" are THE Incubus songs for me. My recommendations.
“The Warmth” is one of the best alt rock songs ever imo. That build up at the end is perfect
So good!
This one, "The Warmth" and "Pardon Me" are on my all-time favorites playlist. I can listen to those songs any time, in any mood. And they have more...
def a hidden gem!
Mike Einzinger is the guitar player. He absolutely goes OFF on A Crow Left of the Murder (2004) which is their most underappreciated album.
100%! I'd love to see a Sick Sad Little World reaction
That album is just perfect front to back
Agreed. even him playing both piano and guitar simultaneous in "here in my room"
Such an underrated guitarist.
That guitar piece is brutal. Its like reminiscent and summer vibes. Great song overall.
This song is nearly perfect. Sweet drum intro. Rhythm drops. Nice lyrics. Good vocals. Electric and acoustic guitar riffs. Sweet bass.
Incubus has like a space-y sound, turn tables can give a good space vibe. I think it sounds great with their music.
I could not love this song more. Incubus always takes me back to very specific times and places in my life.
such an underrated band. Every album is good
Brandon’s voice got me into incubus. He’s a protege of Mike Patton/ Anthony Kiedis/ Jeff Buckley!
If you pretend every album after "Light grenades" doesn't exist lol
Favorite band of all time
They were rated a long long time ago.
Incubus knows how to properly incorporate turntables into rock music. DJ Kilmore is the $hit 🔥🤘🏻
Timeless. Classic. Underrated.
Incubus.
That band is just LOVE
This song always hits me, while deployed in 04, they played this before every movie in the anaconda theater. It was a montage of all those we had lost to the war.
Thank you for your service and my condolences for all those you lost serving with.
Difficult and beautiful memory. Thank you for your service.
I was there too...
Wow, that's rough. Although it's cool that they did this for people and acknowledged the loses, instead of ignoring it and just pretending like everything is fine. That never makes anything better.
This one of my favorite songs from this era
When Incubus dropped “Science” in 97 they started playing “New Skin” on WAAF in Worcester/Boston, MA and I thought it was Faith No More which was then, and is now, one of my favorite bands. That track is fantastic and is the first song that got them any significant traction. I’ve been a fan since.
Incubus is such an early 2000s vibe for me, I still rock this in my car sometimes.
Incubus is one of my all time favorite bands. So happy to see this
The turntable sound is actually live. They have a really good DJ I've seen him solo multiple times.
This album is timeless. Incubus has some many good deep cut songs. Pistola, Just a Phase, Sick Sad Little world, the Warmth, Warning, privilege, nowhere fast, vitamin, certain shade of green...
It is good music to put a person to sleep with
Sick Sad Little World is my fav Incubus tune. The main riff and the instrumental section in the middle are amazing.
@@HawksNHabsPC its my favorite song to hear live
Echo 💜
One of my favorite tunes by these guys. To be honest... one of the reasons I loved these guys was because of the seamless integration of the turntable. It's just always tasty.
S.C.I.E.N.C.E is far and away they’re best work. Love the fusion rock. So many twists and turns and great grooves.
I completely agree, every song on the album is a banger, but glass is my favorite
Im a huge metal head and listen to a lot of super heavy stuff...but Incubus is still one of my favorite bands ever. They just flat out right good music. Stellar is a track y'all will...Dig...
Fun fact, their DJ is a world renowned, competitive dude. He's got his accolades
Incubus is feel good, thought provoking, deep shit.
So many good songs, but I really think you guys would love "Are You In?.
It's not one of their bigger hits, but I feel like all of the elements in that song would hit all or your hot buttons... Good groove, great bass work... It's a solid deep cut.
Are you in would be incredible for you guys I agree 100 percent, it's so damn good and I could def see you guys vibing to it.
Came to the comments to reccomend this. They would love it!
It's perfect
It was the reason I got the album when it came out
Are You In is my all time, 💯 go-to beach song. Always the first song I play on the sand
DJ Chris Kilmore on the turntables, signature for Incubus.
Lol.
If you watched the live version of this youd see how exceptional this band is. No drop off. The charismatic voice does a great reaction to it.
Floaty is a great way to describe this song
My favorite group ever!
Their best album is still "S.C.I.E.N.C.E" its crazy how many genres they blended
Great disc. There's a big Faith No More influence on this album.
Agreed my favorite album... Has a faster tempo from the other albums
REACT TO " OBITUARY - BLINDSIDED " PLEASEEEEEEEEEE 🙏😭 Yall are going to enjoy it ALOT heavy & groovy.
I totally agree..I just posted basically the same thing then saw
comment below! I love this group.
They should give Unsung a listen. Dig the avatar,
This song is awesome. My Dad played this all the time in the 90’s when I was a kid. He was born in 66 so he was in his early 30’s at that point. Born in 91 he and I were able to merge and agree in the sounds and genres of music we listened to during those times. Such a good building block for a father and son relationship.
This is my favorite album! And Mike Einziger is one of my favorite guitarists!
mine too!
Just saw these guys live last week. Great show
I was in a cover band for 10 years until Covid hit. We covered a few Incubus songs as well as The Warmth. One of my all time favorite Incubus tracks. 🐋🔥
I love Incubus!
This album was and still is a classic. My fave summer album. Love it to pieces ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thats what we 90ties angst-teen-newmetal kids listened to when we had a happy moment.
I love Incubus! that ethereal sound you were talking about is kind of their signature thing, combined with the turntable effects. their music is great to put on to just be chill and groove to. not everything that sounds good has to be difficult or complex, it just has to be good and make you feel good. ❤
Love you guys! You check out all genres good music transcends borders!!!! Incubus is amazing!
It doesn’t always have to be the next greatest song ever to be a good playlist worthy song. It’s just gotta vibe, that’s all.
Truth, amen.
P.S. As a former Phoenician, gotta love your name AND avatar.
I just saw them in Irvine a few weeks ago and they were still great. I'll always be very fond of this band.
soo many good incubis songs yall can do beeen waiting on this one
"I like the powerful chorus and smooth verse"
Welcome to every System of a Down song
And the best thing about these guys is that they sound exactly like their record when they're live! I was so glad that I got to see them in MT before the lockdown. I've wanted to see them for YEARS...& they did NOT disappoint!! LOVE Incubus!!
S.C.I.E.N.C.E is their best album, they hit the mark on most their other albums.
The warmth by them is a must
This was a follow-up to "Make Yourself", which was their break out album. All the songs on "Morning View" are bangers! One of the few albums I can listen to all the way through. You could randomly point at a song and like it. Give "Drive" a listen from this album.

This is such an amazing album!
Talk show on mute is my all time favorite incubus jam. But anything off of make yourself or morning view will be a banger as well
Just A Phase - Incubus. The best song, in my opinion, from them. Pink Floyd style start to a heavier rock ending and everything in between.
Drum sound on this album is so good.
Incubus is one of my favorite bands of all time! This album was one of my most played during my childhood. Morning View and Make Yourself and perfect, no skips type of albums. They have the ability to rock hard, all the while adding touches of great beauty......and yes, George and Ryan...even some scratching! Total package!

This is medium floaty for them. What I love are their space-rock type songs like Nebula, Calgone, Stellar, or even Echo or Beware Criminal
Been listening to incubus since they started, and that particular song still gives me goosebumps...I reckon, when it comes to music, technicality for most people is irrelevant, it's how the music makes you feel.
I recommend "Redefine", "New Skin" or "A Certain Shade of Green" from their SCIENCE album

Just a Phase is my favourite from the album, such a great track.
Great song
Mike Ezienger is a classically trained jazz guitarist, that is the crazy chords
Love this song! And this album! So many great songs!😊
Man, this song brings me back. I can remember vibing to it while laying on the beach. It has an awesome chill atmosphere.
S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Had a lot more DJ work going on that was fantastic. Certain Shade of Green is an awesome song. I had this album on tape in high school and wore it out!
Incubus does a great job at isolate a feeling.
Awesome band. I don't even think that i've even listened to all of their albums.
Their ballads are beeaaauuuutiful.
Southern Girl. Here In My Room. Echo is ballad-y. Super sexy. Beautiful.
I loved Incubus! I had this CD 💿 back in the day. Soooo many great songs on this album. 🫶🏼
I love “into the summer” by them. I don’t know if many have heard it but it’s a vibe
“Sick, Sad, Little World” is a song that is right in your pocket.
The turntable doesn't sound bad, it's just the thing that dates it the most. You laugh first purely because you remember the era and then a second later you realize it kind of rules and that era actually had its charms
REACT TO " OBITUARY - BLINDSIDED " PLEASEEEEEEEEEE 🙏😭 Yall are going to enjoy it ALOT heavy & groovy.
it "dates the song, huh.
well, yeah...you got that right. let's you know it's made when music (rock, specifically) was actually good.
i hear that shit ......
and I know I'm home!
ahhhh!
The turntable guy actually plays the keys in the band too. Fits their vibe perfectly.
This is one of their many great "commercial" hits, but by far my favorite Incubus album is S.C.I.E.N.C.E, every song is a banger but my favorites are "A Certain Shade of Green" "Nebula" "Deep Inside". Please check one of these songs out!
Ive been rediscovering Incubus this year. It’s a great band, fantastic musicianship.
This guy gets it
Loved them first time I heard them.... especially this song.... was doing my first year at varsity.... whole lotta love... BOTSWANA, AFRIKA!
FYI.. Shadow of the Sun was Audioslave.
Love Incubus and have since the 90s!!! I've shown my students a lot of their songs.
Nice reaction and clever thoughts as always!
Jinjer - Teacher! Teacher!
They should DEFINITELY do that one
I’m so happy you guys came back to Incubus. They are my favorite band of all time. Went to their 20 yrs of make yourself concert back in 2019 at Radio City. It was amazing.
Their best song to me, personally, is The Warmth. The lyrics the in & out of going hard is perfection.
Dont let the world bring you down. not everyone here is that fucked up and cold.
I'm glad you guys have come back to Incubus. If y'all have the time for a trip, they'll be in Paso Robles, CA on Thursday and at Red Rocks in Colorado on Sunday. Almost all of their music has that feel good flow, great transitions, and overall listenability.
Give "The Warmth" a chance, from 'Make Yourself'. You'll never leave Incubus' side after that.
gotta get some more of this
Incubus legitimately is one is worth delving into marathon style
SCIENCE
Agreed
This band deserves a marathon
