I have a 2007 Toyota RAV4 I got just over a year ago. Didn’t have any issues with codes, but had a shutter vibration issue. 2 mechanics said it was the transmission torque converter. I had a transmission 78k miles and new torque converter put in. Also other issues showed up. Spent a little over $4000. The shutter issue was not resolved. About 3 weeks after having all the work done. Three lights came on on the dash, engine, vsc and another one. Code for knock sensor. Had a bunch more stuff done. Then the code P0171 came up. spent almost $7000 total since July. I now no,shutter finally but had to replace axles, bearings, had repair done to part where drive trains meet. Have new 02 sensors, muffler, MAF sensor. It finally threw the code for misfires in cylinder 4. Replaced the ignition coils and spark plugs. Got the car back and only drove less than 10 miles and the P0171 came back on. He said,he checked all the hoses. I asked about the fuel pump if he did a pressure check, he said everything looked good on that. I put a new gas cap on just in case. I haven’t driven it again yet because I haven’t been feeling well. He has been consulting with a Toyota mechanic. He suggested that the ECM computer may need changed. Any suggestions appreciated. I’m on disability and already have spent way too much on this older vehicle. Its value is not listed anywhere near how much I have spent at this point.

What if you do have issues? Your engine just turns off at high speed on a major hyway? Terrifying when that happens. Not fun when cars are zooming past, and your trying to strong arm coast you car over to the side. That happened twice then i got the engine light, and now it will stall on me are red lights are slowing down too.I have to keep my foot on gas and brake at same time. and i can feel surges of power in my engine like it gets boosts of energy. Then i went to put it in park and the engine reved before shutting off. 2009 nissan versa. New muffler and shifter cable last year.
I know this was uploaded a year ago. My stupid scanner is saying timing chain on the P0171 code. What is that about? Timing chain code is a complete different code for that. JUNK SCANNER!!!
K - It could be because it is a low-quality scanner because a P0171 usually points to a lean condition caused by issues like vacuum leaks, a faulty MAF sensor, or fuel delivery problems, not directly related to the timing chain. However, if the timing chain is stretched or the timing is off, it can indirectly cause lean conditions by disrupting engine performance, leading to the P0171 code. Keep us updated!
@8020Media after it sits a whole night. In the morning it has a hard time coming to life. While cranking the battery light flickers for a second. Or even after say 4 to 5 hours give or take. It has a long crank to start. Could that lean towards that code. For a fualty fuel delivery?
K - Yes, the hard starting after sitting for several hours or overnight, along with the battery light flickering briefly, could indicate a fuel delivery issue tied to a failing fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, or a leak in the fuel system allowing pressure to drop. This condition can cause extended cranking as the system struggles to build sufficient fuel pressure for ignition.

Hi! I have a 2014 Mazda CX-5. I’m getting P0171, P061B and P0102 all together. What would a combination of these codes point to? Is it more inclined towards the MAF sensor, or a vacuum leak? Would really appreciate your input. I’ve taken it to multiple garages and they cannot figure out where the issue is. No vacuum leak checks or voltage checks on the MAF sensor have been done.

Put BG 44k cleaner❤ in my fuel tank and not too many miles later I'm showing the 0171 2002 Toyota Camry 110,000 MI 2.4 L engine code? Is this just a coincidence
D - Give it a 50-100 miles and see if it's still there.
I have a 2016 bmw 650i gran coupe with 72000 miles. Advance auto nor Auto zone are getting any codes. Finally got a code 118101 fuel mixture to lean but car drives excellent…./
R - If the car isn't seeing any drivability issues, you should be alright!
So should I start with cleaning the MAF sensors or having the 02 sensors changed? Still have the ugly check engine light
R - Not a bad place to start.
Can anyone please help I have the code P0171 and P0170. I have an Honda Civic 2000 DX Hatchback
A - If you watched the video we give step by step diagnosis.
I have taken my car to three garages that still haven't sorted the problem out
C - Sorry to hear this. Are you getting this engine code?
Only thing is im losing gas and little rough idle that about it everything else is running good
M - Thanks for sharing your experience!
It is expensive to fix if the fuel system is return Less & it's the fuel pump or pressure regulator which is at fault such as in my car which is a Holden Commodore (similar to the Pontiac GTO in the U.S.) because if I paid a mechanic to fit an OEM fuel pump & sender unit the pump alone would cost $300 AUD & the tank needs to be removed from the car to replace the pump !
R - Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.
I replaced fuel pump both 02 sensor MAF spark plugs injectors and still getting code. Car runs better no issues I’m tired of buying parts what’s next??????
I - Have you reset the code? How long have you driven after replacing all those parts?
@@8020Media maybe 200 miles
Yes reset code but it’s a permanent code?
I - Thanks for sharing your experience. Give it some more miles and keep us updated. So long as you aren't experiencing any symptoms, it should be okay. Or can take it to a mechanic.
If you have an obdii reader paired with an app(program) on your phone, see if it made a difference with the long term fuel trim. Might need to find the acceptable range for your vehicle
I got this on a VW Polo 9N with factory LPG only when it switches on LPG , P0171 ....on petrol it works fine ,nothing wrong ,no fault codes .... I think its an injector
L - It could be your injector!
I have this on my mrs and the engine light only comes in at 100kmph it's weird
John - Do you have any other engine codes?
Could be a vacuum leak or some kinda sensor
I got engine grinding with this code
T - That's not normal.. What is the vehicle?
great info, but dude stop repeating that P0171 code over and over and over again. geez. hard to listen to
C - Thanks for the feedback. Noted.
I did think the same -- but understood your aim is clarity and precision-- which your info accomplished wonderfully- without the code repetitiveness. Expertise much appreciated. @8020Media
You thoroughly explained the P0171 code. Thank you.
