    Worst fast breaking reaction was to pork after a 5 day fast. I fasted another 18 hours to recover 😉. Then I found your chia seed in water tip on a q&a podcast. That was a game changer. I dont need anything special after 36s - 42s since my body is used to them but the chia seeds followed by 2 boiled eggs work for me for after my 60s and 5day fasts.

    Since I was diagnosed with type 2 in 2007, I have had a miserable relationship with metformin with diarreah as a daily problem. With a heart rhythm issue, the doc said take magnesium. Oh man, metformin and magnesium. Misery. IM done with this nonsense. My doc tells me that “for a 67 year old an A1c of 6.5 is NORMAL!” So IM getting symptoms like tingling in my feet. Goodness me what are these people thinking to say that?? I dont want to die a diabetic death. Im on board with your fasting. God help me. 😊

    Hi Megan, I had beef bone broth in the evening of my 36 hours fast. It was quite fatty, and I got quite strong nausea that lasted all night. I then realise by doing some research that the bone broth recommended during a fast was just chicken bone broth, is that correct? Would you sat the fatty beef bone broth might have caused the nausea, so better to avoid it? Thanks

    • @TheFastingMethod
      @TheFastingMethod  4 роки тому +4

      Beef broth should be fine! Maybe you drank too much or too fast. Or maybe it wasn't the bone broth making you feel nauseated. Could be dehydration or depleted salt levels. Hope you're feeling better!

      sauerkraut needs to be an active culture to do anything useful, as does apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar is outrageously over rated. It’s only value over any other vinegar is the active culture of acetobacter, which really is not great “probiotic”. Kombucha has a much more diverse bacterial community, and is far more valuable as a probiotic as a result. Home made kefir expands on this... made from hand me down kefir grains, it’s has a hugely diverse colony of probiotic microbes. Kimchee is often available as a live culture product, essentially much the same microbes as kraut. but live.

    What about taking a pre and probiotic an hour or two before breaking the fast? The bacteria should wake up your intestines. On a similar note, what about taking a mild and natural laxitive at the start of the fast so you're "clean" during the fast? I'm thinking your colon would love to have a break and a fast is a perfect time to do it.

      Your body was probably low on electrolytes and dehydrated. Try drinking more water and consuming more salt if you can! Good for you for listening to your body. Instead of taking sugar next time, try bone broth or half an avocado or something!

      We recommend real, whole foods over meal replacements. You could break your fast with the green drink, provided you make it yourself and it doesn't have any sweeteners in it.

    Hi Megan, I have to say I have HUGE respect for you just doing that 42/42/24 fast and sticking with it for six months! I wrote you days ago after breaking my fast with a huge stomach ache . Though I am for sure intent on your healing fast, today was a mere 22 hours and I had the shakes so badly that i just broke my fast with about 2 ounces of wild caught salmon and evoo. When one gets the shakes, is it ok to ignore that and just plow through? I feel like a wimp to have eaten when I wasn’t hungry but those shakes lasted long enough to say Ok, stop for today. ?????? I’d love to learn more on what I may expect doing 42 hours and what’s ok to simply Be With and what’s perhaps an indication I would be better off ending the fast. I appreciate that every BODY is different and may react differently, especially with whatever underlying issues one has though if there are some common features I can be aware of and keep fasting, that’d be great. Think on Thursday if any shakes I’ll do some restorative yoga to keep going. And thank you for your advise and encouragement the other day, my belly feels calm with the salmon instead of eggs nuts and celery! and the shakes are going away. To 42 for me this week! I’ll keep at it!

    Hi, thanks for the video, very helpful! :) Quick question
    I've been fasting for 17 and a half days, ending it on my 20th day. However, I HAVE been having coffee with milk ever since I began (I know that's not a true fast but hey lol). Has the milk been keeping my digestive system working, making it easier to refeed? Thank you!

    • @TheFastingMethod
      @TheFastingMethod  4 роки тому

      Hi there, this is hard to answer without knowing other details about what you've been doing. Re-feeding issues tend to happen with inadequate electrolyte replacement. We always advise extended fasts be supervised medically. Please follow the guidance of your provider.

      I'm not sure what is meant by almost on my teens, but if you are under age 18, we do not advise any fasting. If you mean you are in the teens for hours fasted, we don't advise rice soup, as this will surely spike insulin. Stick with bone or vegetable broth.
