Hi Housewarming, try tilling to remove the roots of grass and weeds and using mulch to control the growth of grass and weeds

If you would like to get rid of some of that wetness in the grass chamomile is really good

Hello! I have a similar issue with the water in certain areas of my yard as well. I’ve been researching and watching a lot of videos on landscaping and you may benefit from something like a French drain. It would run the water from your house out to the street. You can also get the same affect by using all purpose stones in your landscaping. For your flowerbeds, a medium or heavy duty landscape fabric would take care of your weeds, but I would probably do the stone, and keep a hard scape rather than using mulch, since Mulch is meant to retain water for your plants, and you have an excess of water. Hope this helps!

I never thought about mulch retaining the water! Thanks 😊

I deal with standing water in my yard seemingly similar to yourself and I have started adding some lower areas to the yard for the water to accumulate. I've read that it can direct the water away from the roots of plants who may not like wet feet. I have also been racking my brain and the internet for a solution for grass growing in my flower beds and if you don't want to use a chemical to kill the grass that is invading then try each season adding cardboard and a new layer of mulch? I am currently trying this, so I can't say for sure it will solve the issue. Also, there is a strong vinegar solution you can buy to kill weeds/grass. It is natural and extremely less harmful to the environment.

Thanks for your help! I am trying to accept that my garden will never be perfectly manicured. I was buying mulch consistently, and getting discouraged when grass would creep its way in. Thanks for you advice 🥰🥰

Not yet, still a little early in the season for mulching.

I'm wondering if there are any ground cover type plants that like full sun/wet locations that can compete with the grass over time.
