Whisky.com reviews the Kavalan Triple Sherry Cask. Kavalan Triple Sherry Cask is the link between the distillery's standard bottlings and single cask bottlings. This Kavalan matured in three different sherry casks: Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel. The silver lines below the cork represent the Taiwan Central Mountains and the Xueshan Mountains, which enclose the Kavalan Distillery. The water used for production is filtered through volcanic rock and is therefore particularly rich in minerals.

Thank you for your love of Taiwanese whiskey. Welcome to Taiwan
Ben trying to figure out how to handle his dad's China statement. LOL.
Hello, I am a fan from Taiwan. This kavalan is my favorite. I bought it when it was first released and got a male cup as a gift. I have drunk many whiskeys before and they are full of solemnity and majesty. This whiskey makes me feel as good as the ambiguity of first love.
Maybe just calling as Taiwan is more than enough, I always enjoy Taiwan whisky due to the climate affect their products. Strong taste with full body in young spirit
really hope to see your visit here in Taiwan !, we have 2 big whiskey distillery the Kavalan and Omar
Actually people in Taiwan prefer being called Taiwanese rather than Chinese, because we don’t want other countries to misunderstand we are part of China. But for some political reason, we have difficulties to change our official name from ROC to Taiwan. I don’t blame what Horst said at first, we still have a long way to go to make things right.
Like your whisky review anyway!
Well presented
"...a Kalavan. It's for me ma." - Snatch 🥃
Triple Sherry Cask is not that pricy. There was a triple casks release exclusive for France. That was more expensive, and it wasn't the best. Of course, being Kavalan it was still very good, but I much rather have even the regular 46% sherry cask.
How does this compare to redbreast 12 years and sherry cask?
It's Taiwanese, not Chinese.
Taiwan agreed! Sounds better too!!!😊
Love your channel!
(1) If I said to you, "Back in the 1950's, when the Stasi was arresting citizens off the strasse of Munchen...., " you would stop me and tell me that "Stasi was EAST German! Munchen was never part of East Germany!" And then I would reply, "Horst, but weren't they all Germans!" I hope this helps you understand better the difference between Communist China and Taiwan.
(2) Interestingly, Kavalan is NOT popular in Taiwan. The Taiwanese, like many East Asians, prefer scotch. I believe / suspect it has to do with brand recognition. To many East Asians, sharing a bottle of Macallan with guests is more prestigious than enjoying a fantastic bottle of Kavalan.
Probably 2 reasons affecting its popularity: 1. Kavalan is more pricey than a lot of Scotch blended whisky for being single malt; 2. Whisky is more for enjoyment rather than being appreciated in Taiwan; blended whisky is generally smoother than single malt and cask strength whisky by Kavalan.
@@songyychen goo point about its being pricey. I just came back from a European vacation. I noticed that many places carried lower end Kavalan; did not see any Solist. The retailers all told me that price was the reason. As to your comment about enjoyment vs. being appreciated, what do you mean? I don't understand the difference.
@@jckbquck solist aren't that expensive locally; usually around USD $100 dollars unless you go for Sherry casks. No idea on why they are so expensive overseas. Most people in Taiwan drinks whisky like drinking from shot glasses, they drink it so fast that I seriously doubt the whisky is fully appreciated.
love the whisky reviews!! but politics ruin everyting....
Taiwan ≠ China
🇹🇼 🥃👍
republique of china X
taiwan O
Good thing it’s Taiwanese, I wouldn’t touch a mainland Chinese liquor with a barge pole.
Every product from Mainland China is horrible, clothes, tech, etc. Everything that Taiwanese make is either the best in the world, or unique. There whisky is literally the best, for me at least. Better than any Scotch I've had.
@@CharlesOffdensen Taiwan is like Japan, China are just a bunch of corner cutters. Yeah
@@CharlesOffdensen😂😂😂
I pressed dislike and was about to press unsubscribe when Horst said Chinese whisky, but retracted my dislike when Ben said it's just Taiwan.
Kavalan needs to learn how to age their whisky (make better barrels at least) instead of making blends of various sherrys. Just sounds unappealing, this bottle.
whiskey from taiwan ffs!
