- All American Prophet, from the musical The Book of Mormon. Performed in Santa Barbara High School Theatre's Music of the Night 2016, a student directed Broadway revue. Directed by Rio Salazar, Dante Gonzalez, Lizzie Saunders, and Sable Layman. Musical Direction by Jon Nathan, Sio Tepper, and Robert Johnson.
Everyone is in disbelief that HS students could be this talented, meanwhile I cant believe this was done by a High school in the first place!

how do they have so many guys in their theatre program?
my drama department is really good and we have 20-25 guys
Thank you!! I've been miscast so many times because we have no guys in my program, and I'm an alto, so I can reach the notes easier.

Maybe it's also a sign of the post-Hamilton, post-Book of Mormon days broadening theatre's appeal at a younger age?

This is in a high school broadway review show, and they are all individual numbers, so out of context they didn’t use the original lines, as it wouldn’t make sense, and they didn’t have the context of the tribe.

L. T C. There certainly are Mormons here, I live in rural South Georgia, they have a large presence. My dentist, realtor, and tire guy, are all active members. They own multiple factories that make cargo trailers and mobile homes. They also have a car dealership. The missionaries are regulars in every neighborhood in need. They know how the game is played.

Joseph Smith sounded like basically a carbon copy of the original dude did in the musical. How the hell do these High School kids going through puberty and voice changing pull off that kind of vocal manipulation?!?!? Also, WHY DID THEY GET RID OF, "I HAVE MAGOTS IN MY SCROTUM?!?!?" THAT WAS THE BEST PART LMAO.
Because it makes no sense as a one-off in a musical number without seeing the entire show. Also, high school.

Book of Mormon is so inspirational -- South Park and Book of Mormon, two of the greatest institutions of satire in America. Teaching kids criticism at all levels.

The Book of Mormon show was due to be performed in my city in the UK but then Covid hit and shut all the theatres (uk spelling :) ) So I searched for the show on youtube and found the sbhsmotn channel and although I'm late to the party, I am so glad I did. I particularly love this performance because as has been mentioned before, it is rare for so many talented guys to be in one theatre company at the same time. I don't think this is an easy number to perform but the lads are well rehearsed and what I appreciate the most is that at no time do I feel that anyone is trying to upstage another member of the cast - it really is a team effort. Special mention must go to the orchestra who are also very talented and the backstage crew who are essential to put on such a good show. The fact that all the cast perform in a multitude of different musical number on the night as well as this one just shows what a very talented group of performers they are :)

Kaz Avian in the musical it’s in 1823 where they all had these coats etc and the angel should look more like an angel but here the angel is in shorts and Joseph Smith is just wearing a suite with jeans
It’s a high school production of one song. Not the whole musical, so it’s possible they don’t want to wear the whole costume of Joseph and the angel.
