The makers of South Park really create the most inconvenient earworms ever. Only yesterday I caught myself quietly singing "Being gay is bad, but lying is worse..." on a train :O
I don't think people realize that the acting in TBOM is supposed to be stupid and cheesy.. Especially when the Elders are on stage. The musical was created to make fun of them, so..
I don’t think people understand how hard it actually is to act 😂 it is not easy, straight up I need to see some egotistical person see for them self sign up for acting class and be anything but shy
I agree the acting is supposed to be cheesy, but the musical was not really made to make fun of Mormons only. if you watch any interviews with the creators, they will say that they love Mormons and grew up around many of them, and that the general takeaway that should be taken from the musical isn't "oh these guys are stupid lets make fun of them" but more "yeah their stories are stupid and they're over the top, but most are good-hearted people and the morals taken from their stories can be helpful"
At the show I went to: they would clap at times and the lights would go out, this happened three or four times but on the last time they were on the stage in the pink vests: was absolutely incredible.
Well, yes, some of the lines are sung by different characters than the Broadway musical, but that's not the point. The director was obviously working with the talents of his cast. So, come on, lighten up and enjoy a pretty good amateur performance.
It's funny because the Mormon's love the musical and feel like it represents them to a tee, they even run advertisements in the musical programs. It's what's clever about Matt Parker and Trey Stone, as they generally do in South Park, they are very accurate and factual making the humour that much better.
It's a good message. There are things about the culture of our church that aren't that great. Imperfect people make imperfect organizations. It's not wrong to admit that.
You guys did a fantastic job and I can tell that all of you were having so much fun doing this. You guys took a song that is corny and cheesy (delightfully so, I may add) and I think made it even more so. Wonderful job.
While it's not as good as the broadway number, basically no one has done it as good as broadway. Honestly this is the best version on youtube I've seen of this song, just in my opinion though.
I'm surprised they haven't done a show here in Salt Lake City!! 😆😆 I want to see this so bad! I'm not a Utah Native, but I've lived here long enough to know about the Mormons. And this seems to be on point with it all!
Watching all the different performances of this song, it's really cool how they add their own dances and along with the choreography (Like the spinning parts)
I grew up in the church my entire life and was never convinced no matter how charismatic the voices. But this play is what flicked my switch. I now am a full believer knowing i can turn off the "reality" switch and turn on the mormon switch.
The version I saw was really well done - they turned the lights off and then back on, and again, and then the third time when the lights came back on they had the pink vests on suddenly. Super surprising!
I just saw the show last night and these guys did a credible job! Of course the staging wasn't identical (one difference is that in the show when they clap, the lights go out like those clappers for light switches.) And when the lights came back, they were in the sparkly vests. But considering they weren't professionals, I congratulate them for a job well done!
the one who sung the gay verse is the same one that said "no no im not having gay thoughts" and also at the beginning he is in the position of elder Price and elder Mckinly (not the correct spelling but oh well) is the gay one this spoilt the whole thing for me otherwise it would be a good performance
Actually there just changing the scenario in which they're singing to the gay boy who is having the gay thoughts I've seen other groups do it like this too
It really ruins the whole point of the song that McKinley isn't the one who sings that just not acting on those feelings is bad. His whole part of the song is that he knows hes gay, and sees it as a bad thing anyway. Not that other people tell him it is. Thats what gives the line its emotional and comedic impact.
They just distributed McKinley's lyrics so everyone got a relatively equal amount of lines. But I agree, it was kind of odd but definitely an interesting take. I kind of like their interpretation.
I think it's also poking fun at musicals that talk about serious matters (the Sound of Music is very guilty of this) but have more jovial and over the top musical numbers.
i think they weren't happy enough. hahahaha in the play the smile and happiness of the characters were very exaggerated and it made the song awesome. you could feel how much they were "turning off" their feelings. and the parts were mixed. but that's just me. :)

schattentaenzerin least it wasnt hasa diga eebowaii
At least it wasn’t getting gay with kids
Someone was probably pissed at you lmao
Sheep Salt getting gays with kids is here! (8)
Sheep Salt let em. Who cares?
SOMEONE NEEDS TO ADD THAT SPINNING DANCE INTO THE ACTUAL SHOW STAT
IT WAS SO FUCKING GOOD
Yeah! It was surprising that they actually added some cool moves to the already amazing show!
Send this video to DeSantis, Stat. His head will explode!🤯
I love this song. It's so fucking dark and the tune is so happy and upbeat. lol
+JACCO20082012 Pretty much the entire musical in a nutshell.
+Eeveecraft so true hahahahahahhaha Hasa Diga Ebowai
Well that's sort of the point
Deirdre Khoo hahahahaaha
I know right
I don't think people realize that the acting in TBOM is supposed to be stupid and cheesy.. Especially when the Elders are on stage. The musical was created to make fun of them, so..

"My hetero side just won"
*proceeds to do the most homosexual dance of all of time*
I'm pretty sure that's my life in a nutshell
That's Parker/Stone for ya.
The Irony is the point/punchline!
That’s the joke
At the show I went to: they would clap at times and the lights would go out, this happened three or four times but on the last time they were on the stage in the pink vests: was absolutely incredible.
My favourite part will always be when they all go down low for "Like a dimmer switch on low, on low"
Saw the broadway yesterday and it was my favorite part too! Been looking through these youtube videos to recapture the moment =p
I think I'm approximately 92% of these views.
Urghhh found you again??
can u stop following my online footprints ed
+abitofabore not by choice! just an amazing choice in videos
abitofabore ahhhh probs not tbh
*"According to my calculations..."*
Well, yes, some of the lines are sung by different characters than the Broadway musical, but that's not the point. The director was obviously working with the talents of his cast. So, come on, lighten up and enjoy a pretty good amateur performance.
I have a Mormon friend and this is do freaking accurate for him.
It's funny because the Mormon's love the musical and feel like it represents them to a tee, they even run advertisements in the musical programs. It's what's clever about Matt Parker and Trey Stone, as they generally do in South Park, they are very accurate and factual making the humour that much better.
I'm Mormon and I can say it's pretty accurate
It's a good message. There are things about the culture of our church that aren't that great. Imperfect people make imperfect organizations. It's not wrong to admit that.

i'm bothered that their name tags are on the wrong side :(
I'm the 69th like, my parents must be so proud :')
Omg that bothered me so much
I didn't really notice.
The cameras flipped
THE DANCING WAS PHENOMINAL
The fouetté at the end was the best part.
**sees elder Mckinley** MY HETERO SIDE JUST LOST
While it's not as good as the broadway number, basically no one has done it as good as broadway. Honestly this is the best version on youtube I've seen of this song, just in my opinion though.
holy shit that spinning bit at the end though
You lose the quality of the music and singing in this version but the creepiness and acting is much clearer to see.
As opposed to the soundtrack version
I love it! People actually give this piece of advise without any irony which is sad.. I wish I could post this video into real conversations
Ok this is the best remake one I have seen
I'm surprised they haven't done a show here in Salt Lake City!! 😆😆 I want to see this so bad! I'm not a Utah Native, but I've lived here long enough to know about the Mormons. And this seems to be on point with it all!
I'm not a Mormon but my mom taught me this lesson you turn it off because if you get caught crying you will get a "real" reason to cry
That's terrible!
Watching all the different performances of this song, it's really cool how they add their own dances and along with the choreography (Like the spinning parts)
Oh my god the guy playing Elder Price is adorable!!! :3
I grew up in the church my entire life and was never convinced no matter how charismatic the voices. But this play is what flicked my switch. I now am a full believer knowing i can turn off the "reality" switch and turn on the mormon switch.
choreography was amazing i loved when elder mckinely did the pirouette and the elders were jumping over his leg
OMG, THAT WAS AMAZING!
You guys gave a fantastic performance!
I don't know how I have never commented before because I have watched this dozens of times. You guys are incredible!!
Very good! Thanks for sharing! I liked that they didn't just mimic the original. Nice turns!
The best cover I’ve ever seen
This dance number is amazing, especially the ending.
I must say this is my favourite version of the song, it's great
I would have yelled a lung out if I were in the audience. Awesome finish!
Damn this is some of the best choreography I've seen for this song
Mormans are amazing:) love everyone of them i know.
I really like this interpretation of the song, now it sounds like they're singing this to each other at some gay conversion camp
omg true, did you know the demo of turn it off it's all about being gay?
The trick with the a la seconde turn at the end was crazy
The version I saw was really well done - they turned the lights off and then back on, and again, and then the third time when the lights came back on they had the pink vests on suddenly. Super surprising!
this is still so great omg
Did you know that I'm in love with this performance?
This performance had the best tap dance compared to the other ones
When they started dancing. Dayum.
Simply a fantastic performance!!!
I love all the comments mentioning “that spinning bit” 😂
This is absolutely great.
You guys did awesome!!!!
I'm still impressed by the spinning at the end
Broadway is where you separate the pros from this kind of performance. It's still pretty good for amateurs, but you can't beat the real thing.
Agreed
This is one of the best things I have ever seen lol I loved the dance soooo much
That was gold!
I just saw the show last night and these guys did a credible job! And when the lights came back, they were in the sparkly vests. But considering they weren't professionals, I congratulate them for a job well done!
awesome guys!! you are great!!
its funny but the lyrics are terribly sad
Joppy Loppy I think that's kinda the punch line
Joppy Loppy turn it off 🤷🏻♀️
That's it that's literally the whole joke the song is all fun and dancy but the lyrics ate darkTM
A great production!
wow!! I want to see this show!!! how amazing!!
Es bueno ver el amor q demuestran los elderes durante su mision
dON'T FEEL THose feelinggs!
Okay singing but amazing choreography!
The acting could of been a bit better but the singing and dancing was great! The important part is that they sold it.
this is freaking amazing !
I saw it in Chicago yesterday. So coarse and hilarious !!!!
the guy playing elder price is hot???
I wouldn't necessarily say I'm offended by this. Just a little confused. This isn't how mormons act. I should know. I *am* Mormon.
"being gAy is bad, but lying is worse"
My brain automatically: your making things up again ArnOld
Woah amazing job guys!
the one who sung the gay verse is the same one that said "no no im not having gay thoughts" and also at the beginning he is in the position of elder Price and elder Mckinly (not the correct spelling but oh well) is the gay one
this spoilt the whole thing for me otherwise it would be a good performance
the purple cheescake zebra that's what I thought...
Actually there just changing the scenario in which they're singing to the gay boy who is having the gay thoughts I've seen other groups do it like this too

if i only had one criticism it'd be that. What a great performance otherwise!! Really good job!
This was great. Tremendous job
Someone said all Mormons hate this because of how inaccurate it is but here I am. I love it because it's inaccurate it's so funny!
This is helping me when I started crying (“crying” played oml) when steven universe: future ended. Thanks, I turned it off.
Really well done!
Never have I seen such gayness in this high of levels outside of a Pride Parade.
As Nancy Reagan once said to the youths of America about dealing with the temptation of using drugs, "Just Say No!" (Famous last words, no doubt)
“Where is my brother” Jesus... still hilarious tho 😂
😮😢😊💃 this song in emotions
3:22 That one guy in the back is watching everyone like a hawk
The ending was the best things seem in my life holy shit
AMAZINGGG
SO GOOD
I love it!
GUYS I HAD THE SPOOKY MORMAN HELL DREAM
this is amazing everybody is doing so great, the tapdancing was just amazing omfg.
i was a bit confused of the casting? still amazing tho
Wait. This isn't the Broadway version? Excuse me???
Y'all rock!
Nice job, guys!
Awesome, guys!
So who is the guy who helps put the vest on the other guy? He's handsome and talented.
What does this song's doing in my Elctro UA-cam Mix? o.o Anyway, I still like it ♥️
Amazing
When is the movie?
Does anyone have a full recording of the show?
Wow. Been a fan since Cannibal the Musical, .... Trey and Matt get funnier every year somehow.
Awesome!
Okay but y'all cooked at the end
At 3:30 the guy on the left bottom row looks like Seth McFarland
Holy shit! This is amazing!
I think it's also poking fun at musicals that talk about serious matters (the Sound of Music is very guilty of this) but have more jovial and over the top musical numbers.
2:57-3:06 is so ironically funny to me (honestly poor Connor McKinley tho)
i think they weren't happy enough. hahahaha in the play the smile and happiness of the characters were very exaggerated and it made the song awesome. you could feel how much they were "turning off" their feelings. and the parts were mixed. but that's just me. :)
kinda missed the major hook/apex of the number by leaving out the 'clap-on/clap-off'' of the lights with the return to the sequin costumes...
The name tags are on their right?
should be on the breast pocket.
