I do LTL and make over 100k, why would I do something way more risky like hauling those wind turbines for the same pay? The pay should be way more for something like that.
@@leepialongyoure right about that. I got lucky i got on with a brand new facility and have a gravy route. I work 3 days sometimes 4 if I choose to. I do all of my routes in under 14 my thursday night i do in 7. I was on extra board for just a few weeks and being on call was horrible.
I moved into hauling liquid hazmat over twenty years ago from OTR 53' vans and never looked back. A driver can easily make over 100k a year and if you are in the right area you can get on with a local company.
The last 30 years inflation up 125% Hgv wages only up 75% your worth less now than you were 30 years ago. They want us to take on more work and responsibility for less pay and what's worse we do it :(
nobody will hire fresh drivers with no experience for these gigs. i had to endure 2+ years with a company that had zero regard for maintenance, luckily i'm still alive, and now with walmart fleet i clear 6 figures a year hauling 53' dryvans locally (home every day). Also have 10 sick days and 3 weeks of vacation pay yearly.
@@drewsmith5040 100%. It’s still long hours 12 a day typically. And snow driving is more of a challenge with the shorter wheelbase daycabs. Love getting assigned longer round trips to scratch my highway itch haha
@@Vagabond_Etrangeryeah it’s hard to get in from what I hear. And it’s really hard to get Saturday Sunday off and daytime shifts, based on seniority and nobody gives the morning weekday shifts up

because people dont want to be on call, work on the dock or need high seniority to have a good route.
What is LTL
@@thedingo8833 love to lick
@@thedingo8833 less than truck load. It's the smaller trailers, often doubles or triples. Typically needing manual work to load or unload.

Let’s just appreciate the fact that this is a real person narrating and not some annoying A.I. voiceover.
Appreciate the information as well.

Seems like every job is like that these days which is why curiosity of other jobs is going up. Beats being a douche in the army now.
I'm a trucker of 20 years. I agree. Long hours and ur not paid fairly. Inflation hasn't caught up.
If it was so high paying, how come no one is flocking it.

^ and not everyone can be away from home for weeks at a time, live by yourself, or be on the road 24/7 etc etc
