5th Gen 4Runner (2020-22MY) Garnish Rust

Seems to effect primarily 2020-2022 model years.

note you do not need to remove the metal plate like he does in video.
You also do not need to disconnect the wires, unless you plan to install PPF.
Garnish will be loose enough to install washers.
Follow up to how to solve the issue with the rear lift gate garnish. Since the Garnish is pretty much touching the bodywork. We're using plastic washers as a shim to give space to it. The washer is 1mm thick, but something like 0.5mm should be enough. The washer is made out of a old shampoo bottle.
Although my 4runner lift gate has been repaired once already, the damage came back. I strongly recommended to bring your 4runner in to your dealership if you still have bumper to bumper warranty. And inspect the garnish after repairs, to see if you need to install shims/washers to prevent the damage from coming back.
