This time on Region Locked, we take a look at Japan's Super Smash Bros Clone: DreamMix TV World Fighters. Funnily enough, this game featured both Solid Snake from Metal Gear and Simon Belmont from Castlevania before they appeared in Nintendo's Smash. The game also features Bomberman, Tyson Granger from Beyblade, and Megatron from Transformers.

I didn't know today would be the day that I'd watch Tyson from Beyblade and Optimus Prime beating each other up...
Bewilde I was going to ask if that was Tyson from the old school beyblade as soon as I saw him. When I was a kid I loved playing the game with my friends... god I miss playing it with buddies.

Meh, I mean yeah that special of Licca's is broken. But broken doesn't necessarily mean difficult to beat. I've had zero trouble with her. Either playing as her or fighting her

Listen... They made ROB a playable character. You can't seriously tell me they couldn't make a good moveset off of a character with unique area control mechanics and like 50 power ups and special abilities between an entire legacy of games.

The fact Tyson Granger from the OG Beyblade (more specifically from Beyblade G-Revolution, the third and final anime in the original Beyblade story) is in the game makes me so happy
He's pushed out of the US and UK's boundaries, and and looking into the cool secrets in the backdrop of Japan!

Seeing Yugo just makes me want a new Bloody Roar.. Primal Fury was a release title for the Cube here in the UK and is still one of my favourites for the console. Still looks great, even now!
Never played it but am curious what was Bloody Roar like as a game?
If I were to best describe Bloody Roar, it's like a cross between X-Men Next Dimension (a 3D fighter with X-Men characters) and Dead or Alive but add in the character trait from Injustice in which the fighters transform into animals. The beasts can range from fierce and badass like a tiger, a dragon, or a wolf to something cute and cuddly like a fox, a cat, and a bunny rabbit (don't let the rabbit fool you as this varmint can kick your ass. No really! She's good). It is awesome and I wish some company would buy out the franchise from Konami (sadly, they own the rights to this game and they're never going to touch it because they focus more on gambling and phone games, and the few times that they do try to make new games (thanks to firing many important people out of their company) are complete piles of 💩) to reboot this underrated gem.

Tuxedo Snake. Better Solid Snake skins than Ultimate .
Dairunt It seems irrelevant while Ultimate incorporates a stage, an assist trophy, and most importantly, more than 20 songs from all main MGS games, including MGSV.
Edit: The stickers and profile pictures as well. I think it relied more in the fact that Nintendo recycle almost everything for MGS and Snake from Brawl.
I wish smash ultimate used the chronicles design for Simon like this game did

Chronicles is a decent game but I don't like the design as much as nes simon, I would not of minded if it was an alt costume though

Red Bomber was a girl in this game? I know Red was made a girl in the older Bomberman anime but I had no idea Red was portrayed as a girl in a spin off game.
I always thought it was Pretty Bomber in a different costume, but good call on the anime detail, so maybe it's just a continuation of that.
Akabon (Red Bomber) from Bomberman B-Daman and the normal Red Bomber are different characters.
Never knew why they went with those characters in this game when Jetters was being aired already.

I remember seeing this in the UK Gamecube magazine “Cube” in 2004. The issue came with a video disk for the gamecube that had trailers for new games on it, and it had a few minutes of gameplay of this!

Sometimes I wish that the Castlevania stage and the Metal Gear stage would have been ported to Smash Ultimate. I did like that iteration of a Bloody Tears.

I imported the game when it was new, got several friends to play by saying, "hey it's like Smash with Solid Snake," it wasn't the best game but I had fun playing as Optimus.
Now I understand why they want to include Snake in Smash Bros series.
It's nice to see a Japanese Smash Bros clone and see how they twist with this formula.
Oh man Alpharad played this ages ago but seeing it here is a pleasant surprise.
I definitely get why this one was region locked. That’s a decidedly Japanese cast, they would’ve had to retool it for different regions, which wouldn’t be worth it.
It would be super interesting to see someone take these ideas and using some new characters (old school platformer mascots?) make a modern version of this!

Why didn't Japan give this to us?
Because of well, apparently at one of Konami's offices, maybe their employees are very afraid to showcase Licca being a Thanos/Darkseid/Bill Cipher-level Opponent for Takara at the time. Meanwhile, in a Parallel Universe, can you ever imagine Licca, Usagi/Sailor Moon and Barbie being good friends with each other? No matter how different they are, they would be good friends so they can find a way to defeat threats like the aforementioned Thanos and Darkseid.
Everyone else: WHAT?????!!!
