  • This is a Hatsan Flash QE .22 synthetic PCP review. This was filmed about 9 months after buying it and releasing about 3-4k pellets on it. I have mainly used FX Diabolo 18.13gr and JSB 18.1GR pellets.

    looking at the hatsan flash as a base for a pcp hunting rifle. from your upgrades and tests, what upgrades would be best for increasing muzzle energy? I saw your future videos where the 18gr pellets were working really well. what upgrades do you think would add enough speed to stabilize the heavier slugs? I am willing to spend money on upgrades but any money i can save by applying your wisdom will be appreciated.

      Hi, Tahnks for watching my videos! I would say the most affordable changes for increasing the energy is posrting the transfer holes to 180thou. It is important also to check that all the holes are perfectly aligned when you are assembling the pcp back after the work. Those are basically free mods.
      The biggest difference I saw on power was the PEEK valve seat to the airvalve on the airtube. That has to be custom made on the lathe from PEEK material. The valve really gave a significant power increase and it ment also that you didn't have to run the regulator so high.
      Considering a direct aftermarket parts I would say the hammer spring gave a really good increase in power. I have the Nova star hammer spring as an upgrade.
      The barrel lenght also makes a huge difference with the slugs. That is why I spent a bit extra and got the L&W 30" custom barrel to it. The biggest money hole with that is on getting it fitted to the action if you don't have a lathe.
      At the moment I am shooting 22gr slugs at around 950FPS and it perfect for the hybrids. If you want to shoot pellets also I found out that 25gr pellets and 20gr NSA slugs work extremely well. Because the 25gr pellets are shooting 880FPS and 20gr slugs are going 950FPS and that is a good mix.

    Hi Montana :-) (sounds like something from an old western movie :-)).
    Did I understand correctly that you installed an air cilinder of a BT65 on the Flash? If so, could you tell me how long the cilinder is exactly? I have a Hatsan Vectis (which is the same base as the Flash) and am looking into installing a larger cilinder. I do have the QE edition like you seem to have, with the integrated (closed) Hatsan moderator (which doesn't quiet the gun down to the point of being backyard friendly). So I was wondering whether the moderator gets in the way of the longer BT65 tube.

      Hi, thanks for looking at my videos. The BT65 air cylinder is significantly longer than the stock one (between 4-5") and therefore as it is some modifications are needed to accommodate the length of it. What I had to do was that I removed the QE system and had to have a small custom extender in the barrel to make it work with the 24" barrel. I think that Hatsan Flash woog has longer barrel than the normal synthetic (what I think Vectis is also) but even with that I think you need to have custom extender like I had.

      @@MontanaAirGunner Think you are right. I'll probably go for tuning the hammer spring down by removing the extra spacers and adding a regulator at some point. Thanks for sharing your experience and thoughts! Much appreciated!

    I just got a Flash qe Wood and I found that there is about 1/16" gap on the bottom between the magazine and slot when the mag is loaded. and the mag rocks up and down a little bit. Just wonder if yours does the same thing or is my Flash defected. thanks

    • @MontanaAirGunner
      @MontanaAirGunner  3 роки тому

      That sounds like a pretty big gap. I don't have as big of a gap. Although while that being said if the magazine is working properly and the pellets are not deforming while loading it should be usable. But thats just my though on the matter..

    i recently bought thee Flash Wood QE. the bolt arm is real loose and sloppy . is there a way to tighten it?

    • @MontanaAirGunner
      @MontanaAirGunner  3 роки тому

      I had my bolt screw come a bit loose after about 4k rounds. I bought a new screw from the hardware store and used blue Loctite on the threads when I retightened the new screw. I have been running now 2k rounds after that without problems.

    Just wondering do you prefer the 22 over the 25 and synthetic over the wood stock ? I"m thinking about the gun.

      @MontanaAirGunner  3 роки тому

      I decided to go on the .22 cal. This was due to the fact that I feel it is easier to tune for high power while shooting slugs. I would go on the wood stock. I feel it gives a better platform for everything, it also has slightly longer barrel. Now looking back I would not try to save the 50$ on it, I would just get the wood one for more rigid stock and slightly longer barrel.

      @@MontanaAirGunner Thanks for that info I really appreciate it. I really like the wood stock didn't realize the longer barrel with it. And was torn between 22 & 25 but 22 does seem better for what you said.Update: got the 22 wood coming. Thanks again
