Good band-aid fix. Suggest having the nuts on the top side of pipe. This will help projectile rocks damaging the u bolt threads while driving. For later removal of clamp.
I've never thought of that but that's smart assuming you have room above the clamp to tighten/loosen them. I usually just mount them sideways with the nuts facing in.

Two reasons that is bad, you could tend to start ignoring it and also it may just not work in the cold. A tilt sensor is probably the best bet on such a low car. I'm sure it's cheaper than a cat. You can also install what are called pain generators in that area they are so loud no one would want to be working near it. It's better just to move on and get someone else. I once broke my exhaust pipe. I took an aluminum can and cut off both ends and split it down the middle. I slipped that over the break in the pipe and secured it with two hose clamps. Worked great, didn't leak and since it was aluminum with steel hose clamps it was heat resistant.
FYI: Those of you live in a state that does vehicle inspections, like NYS, the exhaust is part of the inspection and this fix will NOT pass inspection in NYS. Eventually, you will need to purchase a new catalytic converter to install or have installed.

I like it! Nothing lower then a thief. I had a beater van missing the last part of the tailpipe. You guessed it flex pipe to the rescue! That and a piece of bailing wire for that professional look. Cool dogs bro!
Had to do some repair on my exhaust pipe and the u bolts were on pointing up and they were rusty and very hard to remove. Hard to get to lots of cussing 🤬 the guy that put them on that direction. Your vehicle your choice mine are facing down.
You don't reuse these chap u clamps, just cut them off when removing, save the aggravation or just use stainless clamps and don't worry about rust.
But they'll still rust and they're be harder to get to that way. Seems like it better just to face them in which ever direction is easier to get a wrench around.
Yes. If you run over a dead critter she'll snag and be cooking some fur and meat and not smell so good, or snag a skunk.

What a pain. As mentioned in the comments, this is very common in the UK too. Ours was stolen last year out of a Honda Jazz. It cost £450 to replace & the thieves probably got no more than £40 for it. I would willingly have given them £50 to let it be! @@danlivni6993 I think it could absolutely help, I was an install lead and manager at a car audio shop for years. I like this because it is using some type of tilt sensor. I've installed mercury tilt sensors before and they work great. I'm sure new ones are solid state. It's better than an impact sensor because their sensitivity changes with temperature. I'm almost positive this is just a run of the mill car alarm with a tilt sensor installed. Also helps stop your car from being stolen by flatbed or tow truck.
@@riothero313 I went to Toyota today and they told me the problem with those covers to cover the catalytic converter.
Because the catalytic converter get so hot, even if you have some holes in the cover that covers the catalytic converter, it's still dangerous because of the heat a catalytic converter gets. I'm going to get an alarm for the Catalytic converter.
