Dark is back, lets goooo!
This has to be the ONLY detailed guide on UA-cam and it’s also very well made, I really appreciate the information! I hope you make more of these
Thanks! I've certainly got it planned. Which faction would you like to see next?
I would definitely like to see the sturgians
This is the sole reason why my life continues
Surprised you made it through the past nine months lol
@@norsemodder I go into cryosleep when dark stops uploading
Another Bender plays Bannerlord
The Aserai unit you looked at really quick was their t5 infantry that comes from their basic recruit line. It was not their elite line of troops. Their elite line is cavalry starting with Aserai Youth and going up to t6 Aserai Vanguard Faris which is cavalry unit with 220 throwing, 280 riding and 220 polearm.
Than you so much for making this video. As a newcomer to the mount and blade series, it helped me understand the troop system. I've searched high and low, and your the only guy who makes in-depth videos on the faction troops.
Wow i am so glad my favourite youtuber is back ! Good job mate
The Falx was a famously devastating weapon, reportedly able to pierce the roman armor. Look up falx tests on youtube for some kind of evidence this might not be an exaggeration. Terrifying weapon.
Hey Man, great video! I’d love to see more from you!
Great content! I loved your insights and came away with useful information for my Battanian play through!
Welcome back dude, I love your content
Thanks a lot :)
Nice video dude! Looking forward to seeing other guides :)
Please keep up the videos, stuck home because of quarantine and I need more things to do.
Horray a new Dark video! :)
Pretty Good video as well
Thank you!
the king returns!!!
Helpful. Thank you!
Personally I like a mix of Battanians and Imperials, since the imperials mesh well and you can get well armored palantian guards more easily, as a supplement to your highborn archers. Palantian guards are pretty beefy themselves so your archers will be little less vulnerable in a scrap. Plus Cataphracts are exactly the thing that Battanians are lacking.
The imperial also cover the crossbow and horse archer roles as well as having tanky infantry to screen for the battanain shock troops and the empire units all have sheilds from teir 2 so that's also good they complement each other very well. The only thing is the legionaries don't have javelins, like why they were a staple of Roman warfare maybe it made the legionaries just too well rounded but hey still want them
My eyes aren't fooling me. Nice to see you back.
Thank you!
I believe fian means deer in scottish/gaelic. Which makes sense since Battanian is based on celtic/gaelic tribes, they live on woodlands and Deers are prominent in such areas
Wow ... thank you for this guide
Great video. Hope you do other factions too.
Awesome, thanks! Great primer on Battania. I hope you have one on Sturgia, if not could you?
Very good video it is so usefull
I’d look at Battanian cavalry in the same way say the Gauls or Romans would, use early on to skirmish and to pick of fleeing troops.
I’d keep the horsemen in heavy cav, and scouts+mounted skirmishers in light cav, or maybe one in each cav role.
If you ever remake this guide, say if there are major changes, some tips. I'd go vertically, describing each tier of a branch because one follows the other and similar things apply. Next, I'd summarize the lousy ones and focus mostly on the good ones and what you can do with them.
Like if mixing just Fians and Wildlings, what would you miss? If your priority is a durable army, minimizing losses, would Battania be a good choice?
I saw the upkeep cost of the nobles go from a few coins up to 10 and 15 in the last tiers. Doesn't seem too expensive, right? I didn't pay attention to the other cost, but you might mention how they compare to other factions.
What are good but cheap troops to park in cities for defense? Would you advise a lower number of tier 3 and up or a higher number of fodder troops?
Lastly, if I were to mix some other faction cavalry in, would that give morale penalty or so? If so, would you advise to swap armies, foot for sieges and hideouts, cavalry otherwise? I liked doing that in Warband, parking what I don't need in a city.
Some Imperials next, please. Need my romeaboo fix.
But they are based on the Byzantium, not Rome. It will be more for byzaboos
"they are based on the Rome, not Rome" - The Greatest Fallout 2020
>implying byzaboos aren't romeaboos
They weren't Rome, they are as Roman as the HRE. Being a successor state doesn't make you that state. The Seluekids weren't Macedon
@@thegreatestfallout1794 they were literally just a continuation of rome
Where do you find outhsworn
Is there any reason to not mix factions, besides from a role-playing point of view?
This is quality.
and I sub'd!
it's only fitting to have the Surgia next to compare to the Battania's
hi, where are the fiant recruited? since in battanian towns and cities only the battanian volunteer appear to me
They appear in the same villages, it's random chance, and they are often some of the higher reputation recruits
I assume that they have slightly odd stats is that they can have different weapons in tournaments.
Can you do Aserai? I understand it's the trickiest faction to utilize properly.
Please do Vlandia next! :)
do vlandia next, i still have no clue what is the diference between voulgiers and pikemen
A new darkfireslide video came out!!
*Orgasm*
The Aseria next please
Please do sturgia I can’t decide between them or battania troops
worst shield > best armor .... always prefer units with shield because arrows kill units very fast regardless of their armor however shield mitigates 100% of the damage
Right now, a falx costs something like 164k. This sucker hits like a couched lance. I'll easily deal 128 damage to recruits. Pay attention to your positioning, and you'll mow people down like grass.
How are the wolfskin units
Man, Dark, balance yer audio.
Usefull guide, thank you, tho.
It seemed fine for most of the video, but I didn't check the battles at the end. Thanks for the feedback, I'll be sure to balance it in the next guide.
@@darkfireslide Intro was worst for me, but I'm on a tablet however, so sound scene can be botched on this end.
@@Tanth1982 that's good to know. Yeah, I'll have to lower the volume more. It's tricky because I already had the volume down to like 10 on the game's master volume, lol.
@@darkfireslide Yup, thats a familiar problem.
@@darkfireslidethe music is way to loud in the intro especially
Any reason why you didn’t show any of the other battania troop trees, like the wolf warriors or the Kern?
Because they aren't recruitable from normal sources?
Fair I guess. I was just curious about those ones, no one seems to talk about them
@@BrianHall33 I'll be honest, I'm not even sure how to recruit them.
Honestly I don’t either, that’s why no one talks about them I guess. But they are still interesting and add something to the faction.
Maybe you get them by getting a high enough relation with the sub-faction leader and you can get some from him?
@@darkfireslide You attack them and take prisoners then recruit when they come available after sitting captive for a while
A bit of a shame that archers aren't part of the regular line-up. I don't have the game, how hard is it to get an ACTUAL noble archer unit?
You'll find some but usually noble units will only consist of about 10-15% of your army at most until the very late game when you have maxed relations with towns and villages.
Hey can you do sturgis next?
I never use falxmen even if you keep them behind your main line they will still get hit by arrows
900 ha. Laughs in 3000 hours
Cant wait for spears to get buffed against cavalary. At the moment cav is just way too OP. When cavalary becomes les important can Battania finaly shine!
Consider lowering the game volume so that we can actually make sense of what you're saying
Fian champions are OP, if you can gather 30 champions they will annihilate any infantry amount in front of them
I really wanted to watch you video, but it's not alright that the background music is louder than your voice, you should barely here the background noises (music)
Yeah, sorry about that. If you skip past the title sequence the volume there is much better.
I thought the best archers are the sarranid ones
The Aserai Mameluke Archers are better horse archers but the Battanians have the best foot archers by far.
EU4 ----- are videos coming?
I did have one in mind.
@@darkfireslide you are one of the best speakers i have ever encountered on this platform. your voice is really magnificent
@@hustler3335 Thank you! I appreciate the compliment.
Please disable redundant notification flags, oh wait wrong game. Could you possibly do some guides for Total War Atilla?
I’ve tried 3 battania campaigns and each time they get completely destroyed by west empire within the first 20 days. By the time I get from the tutorial area to battania at least 2 of their towns are gone and their king is captured.
That's a problem with the older patches but snowballing seems to have been somewhat fixed as of 1.0.4 on new files.
Fe-in, but say it fast.
It means warrior in Irish. Plural is Fianna. Fe-in-ah.
