    Hey, French guy here. Actually mountainous regions are the best place the grow grapes. They're very windy, which drives off pest, and they give good soil. The best French wines have their grapes grown in the mountainous regions of France :)

    I think it's worth mentioning that despite their lack of armour, most infantry units have at least 1 stack of throwing weapons, which allows them to take out around 25-40% of incoming melee units before engaging with them, which greatly boosts survivability. Also the Oathsworn and Wildlings have pretty good big shields, which boosts their ability to defend from arrow fire.

    One thing I’ve noticed playing the Battanians is that the Battanians ALWAYS have a smaller army than the opponents. Especially playing against the Vlandians. I’ll summon all of the lords possible and only have an army of about 1-1.2k whereas the Vlandians can have 2 armies of that size. I think it has alot to do with the base number of lords/fiefs

    As Battanians we just slaughtered the Sturgians in a 130 day war, they are no more. Vlandians have 2 towns left, soon to be no more. Right now we are at war with the Aserai, they are giving us more of a hard time than Stugians or Vlandians did.

    • @Dare_To_Game
      @Dare_To_Game  2 роки тому

      Sounds about right. The Vlandians, Sturgians, and Battanians all compete with each other reasonably well, but when they have to face off against Khuzaits or Aserai, the challenge is a lot greater. I recommend luring their cavalry armies into the woods, where your battanians will once again have the advantage.

    Wait, but grapes do grow in hills. Maybe not mountains, but I also wouldn't describe Battania as mountainous, it's just hills. I would sooner say I wouldn't think of grapes immediately because they are typically more southern European, while Battania has a more northern European culture, so I wouldn't immediately make the association either, but looking only at environment it's the best fit.

    • @Dare_To_Game
      @Dare_To_Game  2 роки тому +1

    • @FaithfulOfBrigantia
      @FaithfulOfBrigantia Рік тому

      Celtic blood doesn't exist. (TLDR at the end)
      European populations are genetically composed by 3-5 different groups that predate the Celts.
      Hunter Gatherers (Western, Eastern, and Caucasian), Farmers and Steppe Herders (themselves the result of a mix between Eastern and Caucasian Hunter Gatherers).
      These 3-5 groups occupied all of Europe and mixed with each other giving origin to the Celts, Germans, Latins, Greeks, Slavs, Iberians, Basques etc...
      The devil lies in the percentages.
      Some populations were fairly homogenous, such as the Germanics and Slavs (mostly Steppe Herder) and the Greeks, Latins and Iberians and Basques (Mostly Farmer, with Hunter Gatherers too in the Basque case).
      The Celts are more complicated, because the celtic languages developed "vertically" along the Atlantic coast of Europe, so the Celts were very genetically different from eachother.
      Those from Britain had mostly Steppe Herder, so they ended up being genetically closer to Germans and Slavs, while those in Iberia had mostly Farmer, so they ended up being genetically closer to Basques, and to Iberians and Romans too, to a lesser extent (Iberians and Romans had less Hunter Gatherer, unlike Basques which had a lot, just like the Celts).
      Those from Gaul were... you guessed it, unsurprisingly, something in the middle.
      So, where do the Dacians fit? Well, coincidentally, also somewhere in the middle. The main difference being that while Celts had Western Hunter Gatherer in the mix, Dacians had Caucasian Hunter Gatherer instead.
      So, genetically speaking, Dacians were, indeed, quite similar to Gauls, but not because they were mixed with Gauls, but because they both were a result of mixing in similar amounts by the same groups, way back before Celts existed.
      There is another way of looking at things, through direct paternal linneage, which is better at mapping migrations because it traces direct linneage rather than genetic similarity, although they usually correlate, it is often not the case.
      As far as linneage is concerned, then the Celts had around 3 linneages, The Northwestern group (Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, and large parts of England, and Brittany, possibly a result of the Celtic Britons fleeing to Brittany after the Saxon invasions), the Southwestern Group, which comprised the Celts of Iberia and most of the Gauls. But also Basques and Iberians, in higher amounts even.
      And the Eastern Group, which is found overwhelmingly in Northern Italy, but also in Gauls and Romans to some extent. I am not entirely certain this linneage was already common in Gaul by the time they began speaking Celtic, thus making it a Celtic linneage, or if it was introduced in Gaul later by the Romans, making it it not Celtic in that case.
      None of these groups are very common in Romania, (Instead they share overwhelming a group with the Illyrians) but they do exist in small amounts, expecially the Eastern group. However, since it existed in higher amounts within Romans than Gauls per say, it's hard to tell if this is a result of Gaulish migration or Roman colonization.
      TLDR:
      "Celtic" is a linguistic term, and the historical populations that spoke Celtic and thus were the historical Celts (Gauls, Britons, Gallaecians, Celtiberians, Gaels, Picts...) belonged to at least 3 distinct genetic linneages (British Islands + Northern Gaul / Iberia + Southern Gaul / Northern Italy + Alpine Area).
      Dacians had some admixture with the third group, but arguably more likely due to Romans, which also belonged to that linneage group.
      However, when comparing the whole DNA, the Dacians were, indeed, very similar to the Gauls.

I always thought of the Battanians as murderers, pillagers, looters and genociders. Then after that, my Vlandian (sorry for offensive language) hate began. It came to the point where I compared my hate for the 2 factions, and felt like "The Battanians seem like chill dudes, maybe they're not that bad at all" and my hate for Vlandians (sorry for offensive language again) surpassed Battania. i usualy take no infantry and take like 90% fians and 10% cavalry and just sacrifice the cavalry for a battle of 200 fians and cavalry against like 400-500 army

    • @Dare_To_Game
      @Dare_To_Game  2 роки тому

      That's fair. You have built in attrition, but it works.

    Battanian fians, Vlandian cavalry and Sturgian shield bearers are pretty fun army. I just started the dragon banner war with the empire and so far holding out, aiming to go on the offensjve soon just need more companions and money

    but the highest tier of the falxmen perform shitty in an infantry grind, their weapons are too long, they dont get hits

    • @Dare_To_Game
      @Dare_To_Game  2 роки тому

      Yeah, they are definitely bad in a grind, that's why i only use them as shock infantry. Smash and retreat style.

    Isn't the game map small?

    • @Dare_To_Game
      @Dare_To_Game  2 роки тому

      Depends how you look at it. It isn't huge in the sense that an open world game map is, but it can take multiple days to cross it depending on the makeup of your army.

    Roleplaying as your culture would be fair if lords of other cultures also recruit only from their, at least they should be able to recruit only from their kingdoms inside their frontiers

    • @Dare_To_Game

      Yes, if you leave the AI to their own devices, typically Battania falls early, usually with the majority of their territory being taken by Vlandia.
