I’m getting my first board tomorrow and I really don’t know which one to get. I’m too shy and nervous to do some tricks and I probably will just use it to cruise around my neighborhood (when I build up the confidence haha) and I’m kinda stumped on which one to get. It’s either the longboard or the regular standard one- Incase I decide to learn some basic tricks in the future

I started with a regular skateboard and rekt myself on small rocks.
I continued with a penny and found it uncomfortable.
Now I have a long and although I got a bit too brave with hills few times,
it is the one I consider the safest and the most forgiving.
I started skateboarding for the first time and I chose to go with a longboard (because I mainly want to freeride and cruise) and man I'm hooked it's actually stress relieving

I started off with a skateboard, it wasn’t exactly for me so I changed to a drop through longboard. Best decision I’ve ever made, so worth it, it’s easy and fun to ride. The board is a little bit difficult to carry around but can transport you from one place to another fast.

My 7 yo took to a long board so naturally and totally rocks it. Loves it for boarding around town and riding hills etc. Now he’s picking up a street board for the parks. So both works for different things.

I am a new beginner and got my first board about a couple months ago. Its a 48 inch drop-through longboard and I love it so much. My reason for getting a board was for getting around my college campus faster so a longboard was my top choice. For anyone who is in college or is about to go to college I would recommend either a cruiser, electronic board, or a longboard.

I started on 2020 with a secondhand arbor timeless pintail, 2013 graphic. Very good board for cruising, getting around, and getting used to the basics of pushing, balance, etc.

I've got a Santa Cruz long board. I believe it is 35 inches and it is called the classic strip jammer. I've had it less than a month, and I have already put many miles on it. Smooth ride overall. I would recommend it. It would probably be around 130 bucks.

@@Lisa-js3tu a penny board is just for riding (you cant do tricks), they're good for rolling on really smooth surfaces like tiles (unless surface is wet) and its easier to do a kick turn. the most common one beginners get is the street skateboard though (the standard one) and its pretty much the mid ground of longboards and pennys.
natas old school board with 169s and spitfire 57mm bigheads is what i am riding now. i have been skateboarding for barely a year and i love it!

I bought the Meepo as my first ever board, with literally no skateboard experience prior to this purchase, and I am absolutely loving it. I've treated the purchase of the Meepo as a first time purchase so I'm hoping to save up and buy something nicer later on but for now, given my experience, the Meepo is doing a great job of introducing me to this crazy, awesome, fun lifestyle of e-boards. Tempted to swap the deck at some point when I can get access to some tools as that is literally the only thing I want to improve on atm. Great video btw!

Ronnie Sarmiento another e-skate UA-camr who's videos I also love watching did the swap with, I think, the loaded vanguard and fell in love with his modded Meepo. Not sure if you've heard of him, he's channel is called PRESS RESET, I'd probably go for something along those lines and end up with a pretty decent boosted board clone 😅

I have a drop low longboard ( my first board). Only it’s a bit too heavy to do tricks on it. And I live in the Netherlands so downhilling is no option..
So I’m thinking about buying an other longboard. TIP! The longboards who doesn’t have that drop low, roll longer..

I knew nothing and bought a 36” longboard to begin with. After one month play, I would recommend starting with a general size two head curve board and change it to a wider wheel. With that you can enjoy both the stability and the flexibility. Longboard is designed for cruising but not for trick. Of course you can do tricks if you are skillful, but it’s not a good learning vehicle.

If you do, go for a bigger nickel board. Small penny boards are hard to balance on when starting out
Size 8 shoes and the 22" Penny was my first ever board less than 3 weeks ago. Got both feet on after 10 minutes and after that, I just practised slowly, methodically and gradually. Working perfectly for me. Difficult at first indeed, but if I wanted easy I'd have stuck to cycling only (or stayed inside). Cruised for 7 + 15km yesterday. Maybe more ollie practice today if I keep the cruising brief.

I tried skateboarding when I was a teenager, and was so uncoordinated I was confident that a serious injury was coming so I ditched the idea - today I'm 31 and I hopped on a longboard in the shops and was shocked to find I could actually stand on it - so I came home to investigate what would be a smart option to start with - this video was exactly what I was looking for - I would just be stoked if I could cruise around my neighbourhood without killing myself - so a longboard is probably the best thing. I never ride any kind of board before and I wanted to give a try. Which is better regular skateboard or longboard? That can help me to stabilise easily. I'm not planning to do tricks since I'm going to use it just for leisure ride
I initially wanted to get myself a longboard for commuting. Smooth wheels, big deck, cool skids.
Now, I got a penny. I realized that I needed to a lightweight board so that I can carry it around when I'm not riding it. I can't strap a longboard on my back, my shoulders are going to have a bad time, nor carry it with my hands, arm fatigue bro. Ain't want to carry a huge strip of wood around, I want to feel free from burden so that pretty much defeats the purpose. Longboards are cool and much more comfortable though.
The only thing I want is to cruise around and relax, so doing tricks isn't much of a priority. I'll be able to ride around comfortably, similar to the longboard, albeit with a smaller package. Although I do want to try a standard skateboard for the cool tricks :D

I’m thinking a longer penny board. I haven’t skated for at least 15-20 years. I want something that will be a little challenging at first to learn and balance on. From there maybe get a long board for cruising once I’m comfortable. I wouldn’t be opposed to learning tricks on a classic board later down the line!

Ronnie Sarmiento As a kid I had a cheap skateboard that would barely roll so I wasn't very found of skating at the time. For my 16th birthday I sought after a ripstick/waveboard mainly due to its novelty and challenge factor. Riding uphill is as far as I've come ;) Now I am thinking of buying a regular skate or penny board for the sake of experiencing skating for REAL.
PS: I did make a full body forward flip once (when my wheel got stuck in a canalisation shaft;CRASH LANDING) and have tried skating in a skate park with it, no success...

Longboard for sure. I rode a longboard for a little while when I was like, 6, so I have a little experience. Also, I love how longboard tricks are always so creative, involving hands almost as much as feet.
