I would suggest carrying a finger Bell to alert people walking. It gives them the heads up at the same time potentially avoid someone turning into you when you're passing them
in most of my videos, you will hear me announcing to people "passing on your left" just something I picked up from mountain biking. The problem is too many people are out there with headphones playing too loud to hear traffic so even a bell is useless against them.
I learned this one the hard way ! I tried pass a bike for some reason he moved from his lane i crash into him at ~35kph.. luckily i had my full face on and my knees pads bit i fucked up ankle. I have a weakness in this ankle since then
What I learned after riding a Revel kit for 700 miles: 1. Careful with the acceleration (sprained my right ankle bad) 2. Watch out for potholes (scrapped hands and ripped pants) 3. Wear a helmet (I probably wouldn't be alive after landing on my head) 4. Other people on the road are idiots (they will cause you to swerve or crash)
#1 maybe but not for me im pro #2 also watch out for rocks I was riding at night and i didnt see rocks and i was speeding up speeding up to 25 mph and i fell right across from a factory named hydro, they one of them helped me with injuries pants ripped but non serious no helmet also lol #3 true too
I got some extra tips: A) Learn to bail, its not a matter of if, its a matter of when B) Slow down when you need to do a complete stop, always be ready to foot brake, your controller could disconnect, dont depend on it C) Be mindful of your speed, I'm not saying dont go fast, but always be ready for the unexpected
I just ordered a backfire g2 black and is super excited to get it and shred I'm 33 and skated for 7 years when I was a teenager but never touched a longboard but I did love bombing the big hills on the way to my favorite skate spots so I'm eager to feel the joy skateboarding once brought me again in my life ❤️
I brought my 1st Eboard because of you from Backfire. I’ve had it for 2 years and put countless miles on it. Taken care of it just like you recommended in all your vids. Works like a charm! Thanks Ronnie!

SUPER glad you made this video Ronnie! You really cover the bases. Learning to fall and the importance of pads are paramount when I show a newbie eskates for the 1st time: the run off is 1st, then know how to roll (& practice until it’s just in the nervous system) then know how to slide on hands/knees. 3 essential techniques for various speed blowouts. Also, in my experience, people damage hands & wrists 1st when they go down. Wrist guards have prevented multiple broken/sprained wrists since I started eskating. Keep up the good work man! Glad to see you back on the board!
I had never fallen off a board before, but the one time I did (running into a stone) I rolled automatically. Thank jeebus I did parkour for so long (I was only wearing a vest too and didn't even get any scratches)
Great video Ronnie! One thing I've noticed with myself, I sometimes feel awkward kick pushing my board (which I sometimes do this to conserve battery), need to practice that more.
Great video as always Ronnie. I have about 3000 miles on my boards now and here's one thing I noticed... When I use a Salomon hiking shoe with raised treads I feel less vibration on my feet if I go for long rides compared to a typical Vans or other "skate" shoe.
If you've never worn a high top and pulled your laces uncomfortably tight and ridden your mind will be blown... That Said I think any athletic shoe with the laces pulled super tight just pulled those laces tight I think is a good rule of thumb
It's really fascinating and cool how electric skateboards have become so popular and available that many people trying them have never skated or haven't skated in a long time.
I have to disagree with bouncing up before a bump. I used to do this and it works on small bumps sometimes but nothing more. The much more effective method is to drop down as you're going over anything (bumps, drops, rocks). I've gone over bumps I fully expected to take the board out from under me. Even just already having a pronounced bend in your knees will save you more than trying to bounce up. It also requires much less precision. I would add in purchasing a board with hub motors with any expectation of it lasting. Buy it knowing you will replace it in short order because it is cheap and you don't know if you will ride much yet.
I don't own an eSkate (yet) but I LOVE the points you make in your video. I own a OneWheel and all the points you make apply to OneWheel riders as well, ESPECIALLY ... the points you make in #14 and #15. I've been riding my OneWheel for about a year (as of Dec) and I got very tired of all the negative and toxic posts I've seen over the year. Thank You! 😃🤙
Thanks for the advice. Totally new. I skated some when I was a kid and actually got really interested in eskating when I tried my brother's One Wheel. I have twin boys who are interested in riding their scooters, bikes, and yes even their uncle's one wheel. Again, thanks for making this video.
Don’t overload your back pack… it will move ur center of balance …consequently double tap ur back on bumps and forward you go off the board at 20 mph… did that last week haha…ouch!
@@RonnieSarmiento yeah! last week i bought 12pcs of corona beer on a backpack. A little break makes my body wobble but not the board. @ B-one Titan 2wd. Godbless you kabayan, greetings from Japan.
So this popped up after a different eskate video. And being a veteran skateboarder, I was about to change it, but this is really great for beginners 🤓 Even though I already practice a majority of these myself, your video is so awesome, man, I really enjoyed it 👌 My favorite tip is the de-weighting. Such a valuable skill that beginners may have never grasped or even conceptualized. Nice work, buddy 🤝
Mistakes ive seen a few friends do (and get seriously hurt) is not knowing what you and your board are capable off. theres some cracks and turns that you just cant pull off easily and knowing what to do in those situations can save your life. THERES NO SHAME IN WALKING FOR A FEW SECONDS IF YOU DONT THINK U CAN GO PAST SOMETHING
so, i actually have an electric skateboard too. each time i pass a certain neighbor, all the kids chase me down and try to ask me how im moving without pushing for long periods of time. they think of me like a wizard.
I think this is the video that we all needed as beginners! The only tip i really want is how to get more comfortable when riding on a board. That sense of speed with nothing around you can be intimidating at first. It even made me want to get bigger wheels for better handling of bumps.
the moment you get too comfortable or over confident is when you will get hurt, being comfortable is one thing but it's good to always be extremely aware of surroundings and upcoming hazards. get low when u see them to avoid high speed wobble.
Just got my Backfire g2 black yesterday and it is my new favorite thing. I am 13 and new to eskating but have some experience on longboards. Thanks for all your help

I would also add to never forget to respect pedestrians. I always slow to a slow walking speed when passing children or people with dogs. Especially be wary of dogs. The are not used to seeing a human zip by at over 20mph and chase instincts might kick in.
hi i would be very grateful if you gave me some advice.I am a total beginner and I am unsure which board to get. I was thinking to get longboard as its said to be easier for beginners to learn, smoother on sidewalks etc and more stable as it has more surface area, but then cruiser is much more portable and easier to navigate, and maybe safer?. Also whichever I get Im unsure of the size- i found a crusier on sale that is 28" in length and 7.25" wide but idk if thats too small? But then eg. a longboard i found thats 41" seems too big ?
Longboard if all you wanna do is ride, normal street skateboard if you wanna learn tricks is what i recommend. Cruiser is a little bit of both, but a little harder to ride, and a little harder for tricks.
4:30 this is my speciality, jumping is good, but i found out after 3000miles, that only thing you need is to drive in around 45° angle, so basically, ride in waves and you´ll be good :D
Also for me it is doing a wheely and not holding on the controller while going cruise control😂😂 did it for some reason and fell I mean not fell but like u know

I agree with most of this besides rule no 10 bc I bought a boosted board from eBay and I love it and I bought a separate battery to swap out when one dies and it’s the most fun I’ve ever had, and even though boosted is out of business they still have the best remote
Hey, im a rider and I bought my first ever board about 2 years ago, I have been shredding a meepo v3 and I have 4 thousand miles on it. I think the thing that helped me the most when I first got it was just sitting down on it it catch a feel for the acceleration and brakes. I also found that you have to be willing to get better. Its not like your going to be going top speed after a day if its your first time. I think it took me about a year to work up to the fastest setting. Just keep trying and you can be an amazing rider.
Great advice, and Wear A Helmet definitely should be #1! 👍 After getting used to a less expensive beginner I got a pricey board ( hey, I like gun turrets and a water fountain on my board!) ...which I love it but it is very heavy - pushing it like a normal skateboard will wear you out in no time, I learned, oh man. Weight is a factor. Great vid!
Thanks for this video I'm 55 yrs old just got my first electric skateboard looking forward to taking it out with my sons never been on a board before 😂😢😅
Im not sure if my board can go up steep hill with a Hub Motor. I would get a belt motor but u have to replace them kinda often I think but it does give more power so maybe it would allow me to go up hill. I'm not sure can u help me out? Im looking at the tynee mini 2
Hey can you make a video or briefly explain what the heck to do about small rocks? Just started and everything has been fine except little small rocks completely halting my board and throwing me off of it. Would love a video on that
Best advice I can give is to realize when you feel totally comfortable on it. That seems to be the time accidents will occur as you suddenly 'feel safe'. When you're carving, GET LOW. Bend your knees. Closer you are to the ground when you fall, the better.
Ya :) I would say like lane positioning and just understand your moving faster and people may not see you so you kinda need to be on top of everything. Never assume a car will stop at a crossing before making eye contact
Haven't gotten any broken bones and i started riding at age 30, one thing i'll say is, don't get cocky always wear your helmet. For me i got so cocky and i ride extra careful so i don't need it to my commute, but knee pads and elbow pads are more useful for me cuz of bumpy roads or when it rains when i get out of work. Had a couple of scraps on the dumbest bumps and sidewalks and knee pads and elbow pads would've came in clutch. Helmet did save me once when i turned a corner with my weight wrong when i was starting, but overall i don't get too cocky on my speed, i feel comfortable going 15-20 going 25+ down a hill is my limit and i def wouldn't do that without full gear. I have a skatebolt tornado 2. And my biggest mistake is i def skipped the basics i can't push for shit lol
Ok, I gave you a 👍. I wasn't going to click on your video, because I've been riding since before you Mother was born, but I just ordered my first electric board for commuting in NYC and thought, what the heck. Your video is well done, no goofy antics and straight common sense advice. Good job and thank you. I'm wondering, can you ollie on a E-board?
You mention to learn the basic kick push, but you did not talk about the main reason to use it on an esk8: saving battery! Getting from stillstand into motion takes a ton of energy. You can actually save a bit of battery every time you get rolling by always doing a kick push to start, and that adds up.
2 things. I would never meed with strangers and let them try my board. They can damage it or at the speed that it takes off, steal it. And finally, There is nothing more peaceful than riding alone and not competing with yourself for more skills. The only skill that you need when choosing to ride an electric board is minimal carving and standing on it. You are there for the ride and not the tricks.
When I'm riding with traffic sometimes, I get a sense that cars don't know how fast you're capable of going so try to be aware of that because they won't look out for you. I always check to see if cars are turning before I ride across a street, alley ways can be concerning to if you're in a downtown setting
i just bought the ecomobl et2 for 1200 usd, haven't gotten it yet but i hope it is worth it, i needed way to get to work. i ama traditional longboarder so hopefully its not to different.
I'm curious what is the weight limit on any of those electric skateboards I'm like 320 pounds an 6'5 with any electric skateboard would even run with me on it
Yeah I definitely agreed do not ride in the rain I have a head injury that is still not gone away but I still ride just never in the rain anymore I ride teamgee pretty affordable skateboards and their loads of fun with great range if you buy the right ones

Great tips and info on electric skateboards 🚲💨💨💨 quick question besides the cheap or for beginner 💨💨 what electric skateboard you think is more reliable backfire G2 or a meepo board 💨💨?
Be careful when passing dogs! Most of the time they don’t care, but sometimes they’ll jump out at you and start barking. If you’re not ready for it it could throw you off.
I recommend taking a couple years of Judo before you skateboard just in case you fall. I have a black belt in it so I'm good to go. Should I also point out that I'm 71 as of July 2024?
I got a Tynee Ultra on 105 cloud wheels, coming from a boosted mini x with 85mm Caguamas. Let me tell you, I am the happiest rider out in my side of Virginia rn.
😊🙌 At some point we were all beginners. But now we can make less mistakes thanks to videos like this. But still, the best way to experience life is to make mistakes. 😊. Also yeah totally stay away from negativity on the internet. Negativity on the esk8 world is so lame 😂. Esk8 is all about fun. 🙌
anyone have experience with the backfire g2 black? I'm just curious about how it is from a more personal perspective than you'd see from most reviewers
*As far as we have come in esk8, it is still in it's infancy really* ⚡⚡⚡ Always new people comin to esk8 so great video! Still lovin that board setup, especially havin easy access to deck bolts! 😂 Love Vulc sole like Supras, better board feel than Cupsole. I gotta work on my pushin n footbrakin 😂 Got a nice double drop longboard for it! People really need to de-weight more, it's surreal watchin people stand still goin over cracks/bumps/potholes. A lot of people go straight to huge wheels without learnin on longboard size street wheels first 😭 Foam grip is nice but annoyin when you wanna change or update your truck setup.
The thing is eskate is a lot of peoples first board in general and the years of little things that are just habit to experienced skaters need to be taught to them
@@RonnieSarmiento I always wanted to skate but didn't like there were no brakes and haaated kick-pushin lol... As soon as I got into esk8, I took the time to learn everythin apart from foot brakin and slidin lol - how to tackle bumps, cracks, potholes, youtube skate videos are great tools. A lot of people in esk8 don't even learn what tightenin trucks do, or how any of the skate parts work 😭😭 I got an eBoard for All the good things of skatin without the borin bit of kick-pushin I thought 😂 I was wrong, pushin is great. I have few pairs of Five Ten mountain bike shoes, do they work for E-Skate? they are more stiff though.
Love the Revel Kit!!!
Hey bro! What a fantastic video! This is as real as you can get and 100% so true on everything you explained! Well done man! 👊🏽🤙🏽
I appreciate it, mark!
Very helpful Ronnie. Thank you.
Happy to help!
great video as always!
Great advice, and Wear A Helmet definitely should be #1! 👍
After getting used to a less expensive beginner I got a pricey board ( hey, I like gun turrets and a water fountain on my board!) ...which I love it but it is very heavy - pushing it like a normal skateboard will wear you out in no time, I learned, oh man.
Im looking at the tynee mini 2
have you tried the meepo flow? thoughts? thanks
Hey can you make a video or briefly explain what the heck to do about small rocks? Just started and everything has been fine except little small rocks completely halting my board and throwing me off of it. Would love a video on that
Thank you sir’ very helpful for beginners
Can you do a review on the summer board?
Hey Ronnie great video I have a SkateBolt tornado electric board, it’s not bad good stArter board, have you tested and reviewed that brand?
Best advice I can give is to realize when you feel totally comfortable on it. That seems to be the time accidents will occur as you suddenly 'feel safe'. When you're carving, GET LOW. Bend your knees. Closer you are to the ground when you fall, the better.
On point. Well done 🤘
This edit was epic my dude!
Throw a couple of pushes in there, but keep on skating!
Ok, I gave you a 👍. I wasn't going to click on your video, because I've been riding since before you Mother was born, but I just ordered my first electric board for commuting in NYC and thought, what the heck. Your video is well done, no goofy antics and straight common sense advice. Good job and thank you. I'm wondering, can you ollie on a E-board?
how would you say ownboards support is? your zeus video hyped me !
Hey I have been thinking about buying my fist board it’s a mepo V4 S is it good or no because people reviewed it and said it was good so is it??
You can also hit the cracks at an angle, and if you do that it bring you closer together
Good Video Ronnie!! PS: kicking an AT board is HARD!!
Is there a video on how you added the leds to your board ?
Nah but just get a cheap led light strip and a power bank and tape it to your board
Solid vid bro.
Love the color grading on this one
Thanks dude, just threw one lut over everything lol
What kinde of eboard you use in this video? What's the name of this model???
I'm curious what is the weight limit on any of those electric skateboards I'm like 320 pounds an 6'5 with any electric skateboard would even run with me on it
Amazing vid ronnie
Yeah I definitely agreed do not ride in the rain I have a head injury that is still not gone away but I still ride just never in the rain anymore I ride teamgee pretty affordable skateboards and their loads of fun with great range if you buy the right ones
nice one Ronnie, great tips (and basically the exact same thing I tell people who ask me for beginner tips, but yours has mint video editing 🤩)
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@RonnieSarmiento my Girlfriend is learning to ride, so it's great to be able to show her some of the things i'm trying to explain, hahaha. always enjoy your vids mate :D
Thanks my dude
Great tips and info on electric skateboards 🚲💨💨💨 quick question besides the cheap or for beginner 💨💨 what electric skateboard you think is more reliable backfire G2 or a meepo board 💨💨?
Both are decent tbh, depends on you how riders treat em
Be careful when passing dogs! Most of the time they don’t care, but sometimes they’ll jump out at you and start barking. If you’re not ready for it it could throw you off.
Facts
I am a electric skateboard owner and my belt is loose how do I fix it
I recommend taking a couple years of Judo before you skateboard just in case you fall.
I can say i have done almost all of these. Great video ronnie, glad to have you posting again!
Awesome, Caleb!
Is that trail next to the wall in Arlington ? If it is, I know where you are.
I had to ride my backfire mini a couple of times in the rain and it's surprisingly doing great I don't do it all the time it can if need be
Nice 👍. I try to avoid the rain, it’s not fun lol
@@RonnieSarmiento oh ya its always a panic formed when I get home I dry that shit as much as possible
Bro are u from Arlington, that’s around blumont
anyone have experience with the backfire g2 black? I'm just curious about how it is from a more personal perspective than you'd see from most reviewers
Is that a bustin bag? also saw you in the meepo live stream!!! big fan (:
*As far as we have come in esk8, it is still in it's infancy really*
⚡⚡⚡
Always new people comin to esk8 so great video! Still lovin that board setup, especially havin easy access to deck bolts! 😂
Love Vulc sole like Supras, better board feel than Cupsole. I gotta work on my pushin n footbrakin 😂 Got a nice double drop longboard for it! People really need to de-weight more, it's surreal watchin people stand still goin over cracks/bumps/potholes. A lot of people go straight to huge wheels without learnin on longboard size street wheels first 😭
Foam grip is nice but annoyin when you wanna change or update your truck setup.
The thing is eskate is a lot of peoples first board in general and the years of little things that are just habit to experienced skaters need to be taught to them
@@RonnieSarmiento I always wanted to skate but didn't like there were no brakes and haaated kick-pushin lol... I saw an eBoard a few yrs ago and thought real life Scaletrix! 😂
eBoardin is my first Real experience of skatin long term and now I wanna get good at "real" skatin, longboard, kick-pushin and footbrakin. As soon as I got into esk8, I took the time to learn everythin apart from foot brakin and slidin lol - how to tackle bumps, cracks, potholes, youtube skate videos are great tools. A lot of people in esk8 don't even learn what tightenin trucks do, or how any of the skate parts work 😭😭
I got an eBoard for All the good things of skatin without the borin bit of kick-pushin I thought 😂 I was wrong, pushin is great. Still all about ride feel for me, not torque, power etc. I do love range though.
Honestly, I love just a really good push. It’s so underrated
@@RonnieSarmiento 100%
I dont know at what point but one day whilst watchin videos of people kick-pushin, ridin together, some people had a lotta style in their push and that's where it clicked for me, pushin is so frkn cool. There's a magical flow to a good push, freedom, "unlimited" range.
Foot brakin always looked cool, especially when eBoarders do it 😂 I remenber seein Slydog footbrakin on a Boosted
Unfortunately even if I live in a major city, I don't think we have any rider groups
what shoes do you have
