I bought a filter specifically for my BMW F850 GSA. To get the bag to expand sufficiently to allow fuel to flow relatively easily into the tank I had to remove the fuel cap and remove the lower end of the tank filler neck which was done by a simple twist and pull. I don't know what this extension is for and am hoping it's not critical to have it. I then fed the bag through the tank filler neck and had to force the plastic neck of the filter bag down into the fuel tank neck until the shoulders of the bag could expand into the tank. The plastic neck on the bag is a tight fit. I made a piece of stiff wire with a small hook and being careful not to damage the fabric I could place it under the bottom of the plastic neck and pull it out. I hope this helps others.
I have this on my KTM 1290 SA...Plus their filter that fits to the actual fuel pump in the tank. It’s great technology. I know of two people who have had their KTM fuel pumps fail from low quality fuel in Kazakhstan,so it’s not just poor running you need to worry about. However, as for the filling demonstration, it’s slightly slower only if you have a deep and unobstructed tank, however on tanks that are shallow near the filler neck because of an airbox sitting directly beneath the filler (ie KTM), it does slow down the fill time a bit more than shown, but that’s an inconvenience well worth taking if it saves your fuel pump.
Also look at getting a quick release fuel line coupler from Rottweiler performance, it's metal instead of plastic. Apparently the reason the ktm's weren't getting fuel is because that fuel disconnect was getting hot and closing things up. I just bought a new 1290SAR and I'm doing the Rottweiler performance dry break fuel line connectors, they're insulated line for the fuel crossover pipe and Guglatech fuel filter that just drops in the tank to filter out water and dirt. Hopefully by doing all of this I avoid any of these problems. Just my 2 cents.
Hi 👋 I damaged one fuel pump in Patagonia and I discover that I will need exactly this filter for my 100000 km trip on my HD Panamerica- Q are filters for the HD Panamerica available? 🙏☺️☺️David KR Jo
@@bestrestproducts648 honestly there must be a solution/ I am in contact with Greg from srewitletsride who is with his pan in SA presently. He told me about the filter system and told me also to contact direct guglatech with reference to him and his project- this as cross information ℹ️
@@bikerjomotorradtour-adventure if you will provide dimensions of the inner neck (in millimeters), dimension of the upper flange outer diameter (in mm), I can look at existing filters to see if there's a cross match. Also, look down into the neck of the filler nozzle and see if there's a cross-bar or restrictor plate of some sort.
I do a check twice a season, unless I'm riding somewhere that might have sketchy fuel. Back country gas stations sometimes don't sell enough fuel to keep their tanks clean.

great video and lovley you put the outtakes on as well (-:
Cool idear!, and you reminded me to get a cycle pump for our next rally.
Great video with clear explanation and demonstration. But I wonder how long would the filter last for the next replacement? Cheers!
The filter will last the life of your bike. The dirtier it gets the better it filters, but fill- time takes longer.

About every 2 years. That's what I do.

Many fill ups. To check for water and contaminants.

Those new EPA cans are the worst.
