I am so sold on Angelina
Angelina's amazing "signature" vocals breathes new life into this great Christmas song. and I am hoping it will put Angelina on the Christmas song map along side Kelly and Mariah Carey. This song is not well known in the USA, so they did not know about it whereas Angelina and Republic Records did.
Driving Home for Christmas has an excellent melody, tempo and her sultry voice is the cherry on top of this catchy song.
So much better than most of the Christmas music on the radio. Thank heaven for streaming!
Driving Home for Christmas is fire!
Angelina is no. 10 on world chart for all Christmas albums sold in 2023, up 5 overnight. (popvortex)
No. 1 in Norway! (popvortex)
It's also moved up to #5 for new Christmas albums! (popvortex)
That's awesome
So, the world is finally beginning to recognize this phenom. Her STAR is rising very fast.
First I want to congratulate you two on your wonderful selection of pictures of our beautiful Angie displayed while you react. Driving Home for Christmas is a song by Chris Rea released in
1986 so not an original by Angie but she did really Jazz it up with her wonderful breathy/whispering tone and Jimmy Z's great Sax upfront on the instrumentation. The original sung by
chris Rea who had a gravelly voice and the orchestration was pretty standard with no saxophone out front. Angelina turned this song into a Jazzier modern classic with her wonderful voice and Jimmy Z's superb sax playing out front....Merry Christmas 💖💖💖💖 (PS. the reason most people who are reactors in the USA do not recognize this song is because Chris is British
and it never hit the charts over here while in England it is a favorite during Christmas)
Thank you so much for your help. That makes sense.
The wonderful Sax solo was performed by Jimmy Zavala. He played sax for Etta James, Dr. Dre and others and he performed a LEGENDARY harmonica solo for the Eurythmics back in 1988 in Wembly stadium.
Listen for Jimmy’s beautiful, soaring harmonica solo in Angelina’s version of “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire.”
🫶💛💚🎄 🎶👣
Thanks Peter
Driving Home for Christmas, Chris Rea first wrote the song in 1978, 10 years before he released it.
He needed to get home to Middlesbrough from London's Abbey Road Studios. His wife had come down to drive him home in her Austin Mini to save money, as it was cheaper to drive than travel by train, and his record company was not willing to pay for the rail ticket.
Thanks for sharing the history
Only Angelina has an old soul to make these Christmas songs sound nostalgic yet fresh and modern. Other artists may do these songs pretty good too but only sounding modern. Only Angelina has the voice to transport you back to memories... She sounds Legendary at 17 years of age.
Well said.
She applies these 'raspy', 'breathy', 'soothing' vocals that bring back memories of
the great Billie Holiday to me, so no wonder that Billie was Angelina's true musical
mentor.
It's beautiful
The more I hear the 'Driving Home For Christmas' the more I love it! The influence of jazz and the blues in all her music is definitely her signature from this time on.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the moment you've been waiting for. Here she is, A N G E L I N A !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Thanks Robert 😊
Yes indeed!!
The Saxophone Player for all the songs played for Etta James for 16 years - the bass player was actually the one that came up with the bass line for the original These Boots Are Made for Walking - most of the musicians have played with Frank Sinatra and other big stars.
everybody that's anybody in the industry knows who angelina is...the GOAT
@@clydeatrowbridge The girl, among other things, as they say, pierces the screen. She too alone fills any stage mesmerizing the audience. We saw her posing in souvenir photos alongside Steven Spielberg (cinema), a friend of Heidi Klum (fashion) and a Norwegian TV star for 10 years. Let's say that Angelina affects different sectors of entertainment.
I love her singing this one. My new favourite Christmas song. Great reaction.👍🏼🎼🤗💞
Thank you so much 💓 💗
All of the songs except Driving Home For Christmas are from her 15 year old pay for view special. The band included Jimmy Z on sax, Rob Christy on guitar and former members of Sinatra and other top flight orchestras. I think it was Sinatra’s pianist
The song Driving Home For Christmas is not an original from Angelina it is a cover originally recorded by Chris Rhea in 1986 - it is Christmas standard in the UK and also popular in parts of Europe.
Thanks Robert
That's the Angelina magic. When she sings it takes you back through the roladex of your memories ❤❤❤❤❤
These are the musicians who accompanied Angelina on this EP:
Rob Christie on guitar winner of 2 Grammys as a music producer.
Shelly Berg on piano is the dean of music at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, recepient of many music awards and 4 times grammy nominations.
Chuck Berghofer on Double Bass has been in the music business for more than 60 years. His credits include working on more than 400 movie soundtracks. He accompanied Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Barbara Streisand, Paul Anka, and Frank Sinatra among many others.
Jimmy Z saxophoneist and Harmonica player played with Rod Stewart, Eurythmics, Etta James, Bon Jovi, Dr. Dre and many others.
Greg Field Drummer nominated 22 times for Grammy, Latin Grammy, and Emmy awards and winner of 9 of them.
Randy Cooke drummer who collaborated with Alanis Morissette, kim Mitchell, Edwin, Amy Skye among others.
Victoria Fatu is a very talented and well respected pianist. She is the mother of the talented young singer Sophie Fatu who at the age of 5 appeared on AGT season 13.
What an amazing line up.
Great song from 1986 from Chris Rea an English singer...AJ puts her beautiful spin on it. Sax is beautiful..❤❤ from Ireland 🇮🇪
Chris Reas version is raspy but Angelina did not choose her raspy tone and succeeded in making a song that is very nostalgic but not cheesy. Love it. Put it on repeat to keep me chill as my husband breaks yet another glass ornament. 😊
Interesting!
@@TouchyReactions he meant "Driving home for Christmas" is Chris Reas 1986 original, it's actually a cover.
What a wonderful gift from Angelina for all her fans, mainly ♥
A fabulour jazzy Christmas EP!!!
The "band" was put together for her 2021 Christmas concert by Rob Christie studio director of Republic Records and Angelina's mentor. It is not just another "band", it is composed by music legends who played with Sinatra, Etta James, Rod Stewart, Seal, etc. etc. People who were amazed and honored to play with Angelina, who was 15 years old in most of the songs except "Driving..."
The saxophone in "Driving Home..." is played by Jimmy Z who was with Etta for 16 years.
I can assure you this is not an ordinary "Christmas album" by no means!
P.S.: It's not an original. The song is from English singer/songwriter Chris Rea.
Thanks for the help
Sax player Jimmy Z and other base and piano are Frank Sinatra’s musicians these are the same guys who were in her christmas concert, in fact heard that voice in the back ground was her producer from republicans record so I’m guessing this was made at the same time of the concert
One of my faves....Chris Rea's most played Christmas song
Unless the description on Angelina's Official channel is incorrect, Rob Christie plays piano, guitar, bass and synthesizer on only "Driving Home for Christmas". He's listed as the guitarist on all the other songs. The pianist on the next 3 songs is Shelly Berg, and 39 year old Victoria Fatu is the pianist on "The Christmas Song." Vicky has her own UA-cam channel. All songs list bass: Chuck Berghofer; saxophone, harmonica: Jimmy Z (James Zavala); and drums: Gregg Field 🎶💕🎶
Hi, Touchy couple, the slideshow with Angelina's photos was a very nice touch... That way of playing the standup bass (that you mentioned in "Let it Snow") like dum-dum-dum-dum-dum - is called 'walking bass', precisely because it gives this sense of a sound that develops as if it were walking along a path step by step (note by note), giving a playful rhythmic and harmonic basis to the music.
Love from Brazil,
Pedro
Thank you very much Pedro.
Wishing you all a jazzy Christmas with AJ !!!
Thanks Lars
That stand up bass is played by Chuck Berghofer, a multi-Grammy award winning bassist who played for Frank Sinatra in the 1990’s! Love your reaction guys! 🫶🎄💛
It sounded amazing
Thank you both as always for the great reactions and comments with Angelina. Though 4 of the songs are from her Livestream concert 2 years ago (age 15) the Driving Me Home is as you now know from Chris Rea, 1986. The wonderful part of that cover is Angelina reached down into her vocal Toolbox and gave us one of her many many vocals that she keeps for special occasions like this and the Sax Player is the very famous Jimmy Z. So many voices and all are beautiful. Looking forward to the next two from the EP (I have already purchased) and Merry Christmas!! The slide show with Angelina was a very nice touch as well. ❤❤ Just joined your Patreon guys...love the channel and your reactions with Angelina and my favorite Rock Band The Warning...keep them coming!!!! And BTW Cindy.....you pictured Angelina younger in her beautiful white dress on "Let It Snow" well guess what, in the Livestream concert she was wearing an absolutely beautiful White gown with fur frills ....she looked gorgeous....which of course she is....I smiled when you said that. 😃😃 So this is part 2 of this lengthy diatribe, just for some info on the band playing for Angelina that you seemed to enjoy.
Rob Christie, 2 time Grammy winning musician (also Director of Republic Records LA) on Guitar (piano on a few of her vids as well) and the MC
Chuck Berghofer on Bass (has played with everyone over the years including Frank Sinatra.
Jimmy Z (Zavala) Harmonica and Sax (has played for everyone over the years)
Greg Fields (8 time Grammy winner on drums)
Shelly Berg (4 time Grammy Nominee) on Piano.
Kept this info short. You can google anyone of these artists and their Resume's are freaking IMMENSE!! Not enough space here to do that. So the gist of all of this is that Angelina's talents attract the best of the best for good reason. Sorry for this long comment...hope you will read it.
I can tell that you are a big fan of her work. Thanks 😊
@@TouchyReactionsAs was noted, all but the first song are the audio recordings of her 2021 Christmas concert, when she was 15. You can find the videos for those songs. For example, - ua-cam.com/video/pQdJblE0g1s/v-deo.htmlsi=NUE6Ca3EAE5BQxIg . Enjoy 🤩👣🔥🧡❣️🙌
The description for the release clearly delineates the composer and the performers for "Driving Home for Christmas". So, not an original. It's been a top Xmas song in Britain for years!
It's just never been done this well before!
Thanks for the help 🙂
@@TouchyReactions Never been this good before. Sorry Englebert
The last 4 songs were from her 2021 virtual pay per view concrrt with an all star band. I was lucky enough to join and screen capture tthe concett. Angeljna was was stunning white gown and stole. Your bassist and the drummer played for Frank Sinatra for years, the sax player with Etta James and many others, the pianist a multiple Grammy winner, and the guitarist was Rob Christie, AJ's mentor at Republic Records. Thanks for another great reaction.
Glad you enjoyed it 💓
I think we can say that she just played with legends there ❤️ I watched that concert back in the day and it was wonderful ❤️
While only released yesterday, I believe all of the songs on the EP date to the time of AJ's Christmas Concert of December 2021. That was done with a group of highly-talented veteran musicians.
I love the band on this album.
I don't remember hearing " Driving Home for Christmas" on the 2021 Christmas concert (Yes I did Pay for that...best money I ever Spent!). The other songs May Have been from that show, but I'm Not certain that they are not completely new versions!
@@wayneraynal8487 Yes, 4 of the 5 songs are from that outstanding Christmas concert with all those absolutely famous musicians that accompanied her on that Livestream. The Driving Home for Christmas is a new cover that was not included in the concert but we still have Jimmy Z on Sax...beautiful cover of a 1986 song from Chris Rea.
@@wayneraynal8487 Driving home is a new cover of the original by Chris Rea, she did not sing it on her Christmas concert!. All of the other 4 are from her 2021 concert! So, yes, it is the same 5 great musicians. Jimmy Z (Sax) and Rob Christie (piano and guitar) are the only 2 of the 5 from the concert who are playing on Driving Home for Christmas!
Not a new song. It was written by Chris Rea.🎼🤗
Thanks 😊
A geat leyout with Angelinas Pictures 💯✨
Glad you enjoyed it 💓
La prodigiosa vocalista Angelina Jordan un talento único
Il bello è che, non è solo una prodigiosa vocalista, ma anche una prodigiosa scrittrice e arrangiatrice musicale.
This is all incredible, what's also amazing is that she uses a different vibrato here, it's incredible what she can do with her voice, even these breathy sentences
So good 👍
She just made this a classic
I bet that was a Great Surprise for your Mom 👍🙏💯
Angelina Jordan has put back something in both of you Touchy. I love the togetherness of you .
Thank you so much 💓 💗
This is a cover from Chris rea from the UK my favorite Christmas song still a great cover from AJ true to the original.👏👌
I'd never heard the original.
The last 4 songs are from her live x-mas special performance from 2021.
With Driving Home for Xmas her saxophonist is the legendary Jimmy Z. And i really reslly love the back and forth of her vocal and the sax. Its like a duet between her and Jimmz Z's sax.
So beautiful
😇😇😇😇😇🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
It's a song from 1968, a Chris Rea original, I believe. Of course Angelina Jordan makes it her own, so it is her song now as far as I'm concerned. LOL! I love her phrasing and little vocal embellishments. That whisper technique makes the song seem really personal and intimate. I like your little Angelina slide, Folks. Yes, this is very jazzy. Love the bass in this Let It Snow. There's the saxophone, too. Jingle Bell Rock: Yes, same band. There's the bass again, and sax, great drumming. Vibrato and vocal fry. So satisfying. The next two have even more vocal embellishments. Angelina turns 18 on January 10, 2024. Merry Christmas, you two. Much love, Grandma Ellen.
Thank you Ellen 😊 🙏 💓
Greetings from Poland
Merry Christmas😀😀😀😀😀
Thank you, you too
Great Reaction 👍🙏👣💯
Thank you!! 😊
The last four songs were from her live stream in 2021. Thanks for reacting to this wonderful ep!
The assurance and musicality on this Christmas EP takes me back to popular holiday songs of my childhood and before. What an amazing talent Angelina is revealing. I really enjoyed the reactions and commentary you two shared as well. Can't wait for Part 2!
Thank you 😊
The Credits mention this is a Cover by Chris Rhea. Also, the musicians are the same Multi-Grammy Artists who have played with many of the Greatest Artists, like Frank Sinatra and other great Jazz Icons. I believe they came back together and recorded again these songs for the EP.
NEWS!!!!!! NOTE!!!!!!
Angelina Jordan sang a fantastic version of "Unchained Melody" live at the Nobel Prize 2023... 😊😊😊😊😊😊must listen!👍
Thanks 😊
@@TouchyReactions Her "softest" version out of 3 she has done in 2023.
I believe that the first song was re-recorded. At least it wasn't played at their 2021 Christmas concert. In contrast, the last 4 songs. In my opinion they are all from her concert when she was 15 years old. But I'm not certain.
Agreed!
Thank you! 😊😊😊😊😊😊
You're welcome 😊
"Driving home for Christmas" is originally from Mr. Chris Rea, Blues and Jazz musician of Britain. He was famous in the eighties.
Elmar from Germany.....just my 2 Cents😁
Thank you Elmar.
Absolutely Fabulous EP---the album title song is new, but the other 4 are from her 2021 Xmas Special when she was 15. Kudos to you two lovely people. You have almost 50K subscribers, yet you always try to respond to every comment. I have great respect for that. I also like the chemistry between the two of you. You are two of my favorite reactors, and I wish you great success. Happy Holidays!
You are too kind. Thank you so much 💓 💗.
Driving home for Christmas is a classic Christmas song , well almost everywhere except the usa .i think the other songs are from her Christmas concert 2021 .
Yeah, I've never heard it before.
@@TouchyReactionsAs I recall the video shows Chris driving home of course . It's a cool video and great Christmas song .
Super reaction and Merry Christmas to you guys.....
Thank you so much 💓 💗
Aside from the Driving Home for Xmas... The other four songs are all recorded live from her 2021 Xmas concert. And there are videos available from that concert.🙂
ua-cam.com/video/9wcEf_edAas/v-deo.htmlsi=464B3OMDf39ZXJRV
Concert starts at 11: 50 mark.
Thank you 😊
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤
The Bass player on these tracks, Chuck Berghofer, was responsible for the famous bass slide starting Nancy Sinatra’s "These Boots Are Made For Walkin’"...
That is such a famous bass line.
There are videos to most of these songs...
The vids from her 2021 online concert are heavily copyrighted by RR/UMG. Not good for reactions.
Great reaction 🔥🔥🔥♥👣
Lovely reaction ❤
Thank you 😊
👍👍👍
🎄✨🎵🎷💃🔥🍀
Happy Christmas from Sweden
Thank you so much 💓 💗
Nicely done guys! Loved the slideshow pictures.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! It seemed like a good idea since we were reacting to audio only.
Hi guys. The 5 tracks are all covers. Brithish singer Chris Rea wrote Driving home for Christmas in 1986 but released it 2 years later as part of an album. Bye.😍
I've never heard it before.
@@TouchyReactions check Chris version. I have. The beat, rhythm, timing are the same. The tell telling differences are 2. Angelina's voice and her band made of the top of the top professional musicians ever. Sorry, the only name I can recall is the sax player, Jimmy Z as they call him. Bye.🤩
👍🥰❤️🎁🎄
All credits are in the original song description .
Thanks Tom
Ryan, that funky Jazz band had together 17 Grammies, yes SEVENTEEN🤣🙃😇
EfG
They are great.
Hey guys she's always barefoot barefoot when she sings no matter what age she is
You've never heard Chris Rea's original? What planet are you people on?
That song was a big hit in the UK and throughout Europe but never charted in the USA where most reactors you see are from so I guess you could say we are all from planet Earth
but with this particular song apparently not in your realm..get it?
@@Krrazor Utter horseshit. Charting has nothing to do with i You have to live under a rock never to have heard this song
People never heard of Angelina Jordan before either, but this Christmas song will change all that.
@@leebrn8588 No shit, Chris Rea has had a 40+ year career.
