Pete, you should mention how oddly satisfying it is to watch chickens peck the ground after a long day working on your property. It is my favorite thing to do on Sunday afternoon.

Brought back memories when you talked about saving nails. My father would do that and I still can see him straightening nails. I even saved the screws when I torn down an old chicken coop. Good video.

I am in the city on the Gulf. We have an acre. 18 raised beds and 20 fruit trees. Soon to get chickens and sharing goats with neighbors. Just had a whole house generator (runs on natural gas) and our freeze dryer is on order. I can a lot too.

Some people still reuse recycled lumber. My husband tries to be as frugal as possible with his building projects, usually spending little to no money. He gathers his materials and then plans what he’ll do based on what materials he has. Our barn blew down a few years ago and he’s been going through all that old lumber and metal (the pieces that weren’t mangled) slowly, but surely. Pulling out nails takes time and is a slow process, but it saves a lot of money. This is a great video and you were very thorough. I hope people take it seriously.

Great insight on what’s coming. I chose to leave east Texas. Just about every town had a masonic lodge and that small group controls them. Even left the country. My homestead is on a mountain in Greece. The property is only 500 square meters but it’s packed with gardens, goats, donkeys and chickens. The animals get to roam the mountain since I don’t have a large space of my own

Greece is beautiful too and yes to many lodges here in east Texas. We thought about moving to Sicily where I lived when I was younger but for now we'll stay here.

When we lived in south Florida our electric bill was over 300 bucks a month, here in Missouri we pay less than 150 a month and my building has it's own service figured into the price. When I met my wife she lived in the country and hated the city. So together we sold my house and moved to the city. And now living here in Missouri and we are living in the country and i would never move back to the city. Here we have a garden and room to roam and relax. Yesterday we went to Springfield and the crowds were just too much for us and we left. Sure with property there is a lot to take care of but wouldn't have it any other way! Sitting outside this morning listening to the birds and but not liking the shotguns going off because of deer season but there are abundance of them. We feed the deer here just to watch them. At onetime we to hunting them but not now. When we lived in Florida we were at the beginning living in the country but that soon changed and the traffic was overwhelming.

I’m so glad that we moved to East Texas. It’s life like I remembered in my childhood but better. I’ve been planting gardens and made my own greenhouse with a canopy frame and grommeted clear plastic. Seems to be fine so far. I’m in a very small town but we have piped in gas, sewer and a water tower. When the power goes out, only thing we lose is the internet. Oh yeh, heat or air but the weather here is survivable. 😂

I’m fully stocked ..here in the city .. I learned from my mother and she was a bulk buyer, and now I am a bonfire so even though we’re conveniently near stores, I don’t like to go to the store as much because just the chaos of everything so I’m by as much as I can we stay home I garden we work on this 1925 house constantly It’s always an upkeep….but I love my small Comphy home ..
    It’s my childhood home ..
Plus my husband and father in-law are I’ll ..I have grown children with busy life ..but if I need them they will come ♥️

It’s really bad when you just see the news and then see all the crime of the shootings all the craziness, and I even hear that people have to lock themselves down by sundown… I have a 6 foot gate all around my property rod iron. I have three German shepherds that I’ve had since they were babies they’re 11 and 12 years old now…but we have to be more vigilant on everything. I have the ring in my front yard in the ring in my backyard. Camera system on my neighbors are linked to a group text message so we can keep an eye on each other.

Man, you’re ready and you’re hitting those weights, you’re getting in fightin’ shape!
The Suburbs have changed and they’re not as they were, they are more of an extension of the city, as a matter of fact the term that is used here to describe them is “city suburbs” because they surround the major city and they are a hop, jump and skip away from the city, realizing this is when I got out and glad I did.

It is only bad when that is all the news reports. I have 8 brothets and sisters that all live in major cities. No crime. No problems near any of them. The news will only report the bad. I live in the county in Texas, it is getting crowded with city folk that only care about their grass being green. I grow most all our vegetables year long, some fruit trees and chickens. Our shed and hoophouse are in solar and i save rainwater because so many people have migrated to the country and the drought has caused water restrictions. Hindsight 40 years ago we should have done a well on our 1 acre but the city water was what we could afford back then. We try and leave the city and the news for others to worry about and fret over.

Pete, another spot on video! Have you thought about using shade cloth over the greenhouse in the heat of summer? It seems to make a difference on other homestead channels I've seen. Might not give you the entire summer to use the greenhouse, but if it even adds a month on each end, that is something.

Why is it when I go to Home Depot you can get a 100 gallon propane tank for like $150 or whatever but a 250 gallon tank is like two grand like you said? Couldn’t I just get two 100 gallon tanks or an my missing something. I’m going to be using it for my generator back up.

You’re spot on. We lived in Tucson and my husband had/has a great job he loves. Desert is a rough homesteading place. We found a little spot with a better climate with a little longer commute and hybrid location. We left the suburbs in our mid-fifties. I would add to your list, dairy goats. You need at least two, as they’re social creatures. They provide milk and meat. We breed ours with a meat goat. We choose to not have the buck on our property as the milk tastes sweet and not “goaty.” My husband said, as we sat on our front porch swing, “If I’d only known….”

Thanks, I like the cube over the harvest right. It's a smoother running machine and more efficient. I've had problems with the harvest right from refrigerant leaks, vacuum leaks, taking too long for a batch to complete and the oil vacuum pump fogging/misting up the entire room.

Congrats to getting new followers! I've been around since just before the pandemic started and you had the smaller chicken coup. I think you had all (or mostly) Rhode Island reds back then. You actually look happier and healthier now than you did back then. Not saying you looked terrible, just you look better now. And, yes I think I know what kinds of groups you're referring to. One of them has gotten a hold of my sister's oldest son, he's dating a "woman" who is actually a man that dresses like a woman and calls himself "Lily". It's terrible. I have no ill will toward any of those people, I just want this behavior to stop and for it to stop being normalized. It's dangerous physically, emotionally and spiritually. These people need help and deliverance, not their own story hour at the children's library. And now pedophiles and groomers are crawling out from under their rocks and taking advantage of all this... openly expressing their sexual preferences for children as a sexual identity. Public schools are ruining kids, too. Society is really a mess. Are things going well with the barn cats? Are you a cat person yet?

    • @petebeasttexashomesteading
      @petebeasttexashomesteading  7 місяців тому +1

Yes I agree with you. This all started with our education system some years ago and now we see the results of this. According to Scripture, it's not going to get any better. Just as it was in the days of Noah and Lot, so will it be before the son of man comes. I'm not a cat person but they are pretty cute 🙂
