By far the best floor plan for families who tow with a full size SUV!!!! Grand Design, you will sell many of these!!!
I was SO excited to see this model coming out! We have a 2800BH right now but love this one!
Good job on suggesting those hooks. Love this floorplan & I like the under 30ft legnth with a bunkhouse. Thanks for the video/tour.
Appreciate you watching!!
I never know how amazing murphy beds are until I got one in our new trailer. Such a floor space saver and no big deal at all to put down.
I agree! Maybe the old ones were different and earned them a bad reputation but this one is a breeze.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I’ve been looking forward to this floor plan. Can fit so many people under 30 feet.!
Yes! Lots of camper for the size!
Had a 2021 Grand Design Imagine XLS 23 BHE with the kitchen slide. It was a nightmare. The sink had a pump underneath to pump the drain water basically against gravity so that it would drain properly into the gray tank. This pump failed often. Before you would know it water would be flooding into the kitchen from under the sink. It got to the point that we had to stop using our kitchen sink in our brand new trailer. I'm hoping for this model they have a better pump or a better system to drain the sink.
You missed the flip-up counter space next to the kitchen sink in the tour and with so little counter space that would be a marketing bonus. I like that they put the hooks in all the right places.
I notice that there is no place to eat in this RV, so I'd opt for a dinette where the Murphy bed is rather than a couch. Kids can sit at the table if they want to watch TV.
The 4-bed bunk house is genius but I'd put opening windows down in the lower bunks as I can imagine how hot it could get down there.
A TV in an RV seems odd to me, but then I used to camp with 4 kids in a 14 travel trailer 40 years ago and the idea was to spend the time outdoors.
There is a 4 person dinette as you walk thru the door on the camping side. We’re actually camping in this unit right now. The bottom bunks are fine as hot air rises.
It’s a pretty good unit but not our favorite.
@@WanderingWeekends curious why not your favorite? thanks!
Well I said I'd watch the video when it came out. I'm 10 hours late because I was diagnosed with type one diabetes today. So I'm watching this at 10 till midnight!
Hopefully the learning curve is short. You got this!
I actually just went to look at one of these up in Ringold GA (2hr drive)... Wife and I LOVED the floor plan, but man. I don't know if it was at the fault of the dealer, transit issues, or the fault of GD.. But there was so much broken or damaged stuff on the thing (new camper on the lot). The sliding door to the bunk room was broken, and coming off the slide - the lower guide was bent - and the movable bunk did not have a solid wood ledge to rest on like the one in this video. It had some cheap little metal brackets and they were both bent down and the bed didn't lay flat. Another thing of note. The cabinets on either side of the murphy bed came in contact with the runner for the privacy curtain so they couldn't be opened all the way.
I'm curious if this is something you've seen in *current* GD QAQC, or if this is just one of those sample size of one situations. This wasn't the only GD model we checked out.. we went in several, at this particular dealer and one other a little further south. They all seemed to have similar'ish issues scattered about. Transition strips not attached on entry doors, trim coming apart, etc. I'm not trying to bash GD. We genuinely are actively shopping for a new camper as I type this.. and their floorplans across the board are what would work best for my Family with 3 small kids. But I have genuine concerns with their current QC.
Did the low CCC concern you? Any issues when hauling bikes?
Love the TT but not sure about not being able to get the Murphy down in travel mode and also highly dislike the place of the TV. I think the TV would have been better on the side of the pantry.
Love this model. Except. No drawers in the kitchen?? Not even for cutlery? I would rather have a large u dinette and drawers/cupboards in the kitchen than a 2 person theatre couch. 4 kids would be fighting over who gets to sit there.
Does the kitchen sink drain into a small tank and then get pumped into the gray tank ? Like the 23bhe ?
I don’t know! Good question.
What kind of vehicle could tow this? Thanks for all the excellent content! So helpful!
Heavy pin. I’d probably want a 3/4 ton.
Half ton
Any half ton from the last 10 years would tow this. Just to be safe, always pull with a weight distribution hitch. Happy camping.
Too bad I'd have to get a 2500 to tow it. The hitch weight is too heavy for my half ton. Not much payload left.
Yes, it’s a heavy hitch.
Is the cargo capacity also when setup for camping? Do you know what that weight capacity is?
Generally speaking CCC stickers state one should “never exceed” so I can only assume this means while camping as well. I’m sure most folks are comfortable overloading the trailer a bit while camping, especially since stabilizer jacks are also helping relieve some weight from the suspension.
Good question!
Where's the black tank dump? I only see 1 grey handle near the back of the trailer?
Why is it not possible to travel with the bed down? Im not familiar with Murphy beds and really like this trailer. My first thought was that I’d keep the bed in bed for all the time. What is the risk of doing that in this trailer model? TIA.
The slide won’t clear. 🫤
@@WanderingWeekends OOOOH!! Duh.🤪 Thanks much. I never would have guessed, as I've never had a trailer with a slide.
Roof leaking on first trip, probably has leaked for the past year. @GDRVTV customer service is no use. Need to take it in for service wait time 2 months. Now I need to cancel upcoming trips so the unit can sit at the dealer uncovered and take in more water. What a mess and horrible experience .
Purchased 12/30/23
First trip 01/26/24
pretty strange that it wins lightweight tt of the year and then immediately gets discontinued. Any idea why they are discontinuing this and 3 other bunkhouse models?
Bunkhouse sales are down I guess. Families with small children are the first to lose discretionary income or decide to use it elsewhere.
@@WanderingWeekends I thought it might be a conspiracy to force us all to buy 3/4 ton or 1 ton trucks! lol
Dealer I am talking with about this unit says my F150 3.5 Ecoboost #1853 payload & max tow will tow this unit. What do you think? I trust your opinion. Thank you.
Hitch will be around 950lbs. Add passengers and gear to the F150 and see where you think you’ll be. It’s a bit larger than what I’d usually recommend for a 1/2 ton. Your particular truck is setup well, especially with the twin screw. I’m on the fence. I hate to be wushu washy but you really are right on the yes/no line. 😩
@@WanderingWeekends Thank you so much for your honesty. We really like this new floorplan but want to be safe first. We plan to take it all over the country so we want to make the right decision.
I was surprised to see the folding aluminim steps on a Grand Design. Not a deal breaker, but it caused to think what else is scaled back on the construction. Also, is the outside kitchen mini-frig on a inverted plug, or will it not run off the batteries when boon-docking? The dealership said he could but solid steps "if" they would fit. He did not know if they would or not. I would much rather see a folding/portable table in the dinnette.
Black cap makes it hot inside.
We have a black cap on our unit… only one A/C and we stay nice and cool even in 98 degree weather. 🤷🏻♂️
Very roomy.
This is a large NO, Murphy beds suck, your stuck with a shit mattress and no privacy. I love my daughters to death but me and the wife need our privacy especially if they have friends on our trips.
We have a residential mattress in our Murphy and it works great. You also have a door AND a curtain for privacy. I’m not sure you’re gonna get much more privacy in less than 30ft of trailer.
Agree a Murphy bed is a good option. We had one and liked it because we upgraded the mattress as well. A question came up on this model with the Murphy bed down are you able to get in and out of the door?
Yes! You can leave the bed down at camp.
Plenty of quad bunks that length. The goal here was to be under 30ft
@@WanderingWeekendsYour residential mattress doesn't need to fold to be put away?
