  • This was a fairly time consuming fix for an evap leak. The gas tank had to be removed, the fuel filter replaced and a pressure hose fixed.

    Same issue with mine!
There needs to be a recall and this video needs to be submitted as evidence!
Plus my search module burst into flames! No recall there as well.
    Thanks for the video!!!

Fuel pump engineering was done by someone born feet first.
Birth was his debut job of making something so simple difficult.

Yikes! This video clearly shows that auto companies design products that assemble easily at the factory, yet they have TOTAL disregard for the mechanic who will someday need to remedy and repair their shitty products and design flaws. It should not require disassembly of the entire underneath of the car to make such a minor repair. But you guys do have a great video

Did you remember to put the Schrodinger valve back? If you did, how do you know if it's really there? Did you look? LOL

Just had my complete fp replaced. Smoke test (check engine light on) revealed smoke first from gas cap. After 50 miles check light again smoke from gasket leak transfer side. After 100 miles light again. Test resulted in New fuel pump. 3 hrs time, pump ($250) labor $300. 208,000 miles 2005 California.

Why not clean off the top of gas tank before taking pump off

So these cars has two fuel pumps? Thats the reason mine is working half tank only.
Every time my fuel gage is in half i have to fill it up otherwise the car run out of gas. So maybe one of the pumps are not working? Any sugjections?

Voice of reason is that you should never lose a bolt unless you drop one in under the hood there's no reason for you to lose a bolt underneath the car there's nowhere for it to drop except down don't take your bolts and set them down anywhere but where you are working and you won't lose stuff that was a waste of energy to put those bolts back

I mean if you got it all off and did all that work why not replace that whole line instead of gapping it with flex line and two clamps I would have just replaced the whole thing so you don’t have to take it all down again later and do it again

And just like that a lots of dirt went into the tank, unprofessional.

Such a big job and the only simple thing and cheapest thing to do was not done. The lines and plastic knuckles connectors. This is a flip a car dirty type of move because the lines are brittle. You just snapped one and you patch it? I assume that doesn’t strengthen them. 🤦‍♂️

They didn't even have the decency to remove the dirt so it wouldn't fall into the tank... lousy job
