Good ole' Chrysler....Always making even the most basic components easy to access. (such as a fuel filter) I swear their engineers received their degree from Mickey Mouse.
You made a short comment in this video about removing the drive shaft if it is an AWD. I had this car on a lift to try to do this and after a couple of hours of removing every bolt I could find, prying, pulling, and some choice words, I still was unable to remove the drive shaft. Do you have any videos that show the drive shaft being removed. This is also about the most convoluted drive shaft I have ever seen. Only Chrylser would make something like this.
Great video. Was told by mechanic we did not pass emissions because the vapor return line needed replaced as it was leaking (did the smoke test). Now the mechanic is saying the entire fuel pump needs replaced as the line or hose is fixed to the fuel pump. Would you agree or disagree?
I have a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica 3.8 L base model. My fuel needle is all the way down on E and stays there no matter what the gas level is. Still runs and drives just fine. Would that be the primary pump on the driver side with the fuel reader attached to it? Do you think that the fuel reader mechanically failed inside the tank? Thank you very much! Also, do you think the 2007 base model has access through the back floor?
So which one is for the right side? It says Airtex E7226M Fuel Pump Module Assembly Doesn’t fit an 05 Chrysler Pacifica Touring I need the right side one,
I have Chysler Sebring, Its fuel pump similar and is located in the back seat. Can I replace the fuel pump from my back seat without taking out the gas tank?
Hi, I have a 2004 Chrysler pacifica and it has the primary and secondary pump. I went to Chrysler complaining that the gas wouldn't last long. So they told me my pumps were bad. I bought used pumps thinking it was ok & I had my old pumps switched out. After that, the gas issue got worse. So I went back to them & they said the used pumps that I bought was faulty. So I had those pumps switched out. Still the issue was there. Now, I'm going back & forth to Chrysler because they'll tell me one issue & once I do that, nothing changes. I even had to buy a whole new tank because they said it was the breather on the tank & that didn't fix it. Here's what it does: if I put gas in it let's say $10, the guage will jump to 1/2 tank . After driving it for about 5 mins, the guage drops to E & the gas light will come on. As a result the truck will shut off. This happened too many times. But the funny thing is, when I took it to Chrysler the gas light was on & the tech said there was over a 1/2 tank of gas in it. So when it reads E & shut off, gas is in it. If I park on a hill, the guage goes up. So the guage flips around. Now, they ordered new pumps & I don't believe the pumps or the tank is the issue. Please help me!!!
Vickie Willingham how did this story end? How did you end up fixing it? I have an 05 Pacifica and the fuel gauge isn't reading correctly and after all my research apparently there's and air inlet filter that get full of dirt and debris causing the issue. Apparently if I replace this single cheap part it'll fix my issue. I heard replacing the fuel pump and sending unit won't do shit.
Here's the issue. The sending unit in the primary pump on the driver's side is not reading correctly. The ohms are not being read by the contact points. This makes it read either half of empty. It pumps all fuel into the right side tank....then only reads half or empty no matter how much fuel is in it. Seen it first hand. Replacing the driver's side pump (it includes the sending unit) is the correct decision. We have monitored the contact points while connected but outside the tank. Ours does exactly as yours.
my 2004 pacifica won't rev past 3000 rpm while I'm driving. i won't gp over 10 mph. It also died twice on my while I was moving it. What could be the possible cause of this?
The Dealer is telling me that the fuel pump is leaking vapors, causing the check engine light to come on. Is that just a seal or do I have to replace the whole thing?
@ariass9345 yup and a big restriction in the middle for ths shaft. One pump is on the hump on the driver side which is electric. One on the passenger side hump is not electric.
It is not a split tank-it is a saddle tank. You can see both fuel pumps on top of the tank in the video. The pump on the driver side pumps fuel over to the other side which pumps it to fuel injectors. They used the same tank for the fwd models as the all wheel drive models. The tank is molded like a saddle to accommodate the drive shaft-or the drive shaft would of run right thru the fuel tank.
@@Scrub868 I wonder if it's possible to diagnose them separately without removing the tank. Got one that's hard to start, have to cycle the key to prime, but runs great afterwards
@@grapeseed427 the tank is one piece so if the tank is full the main fuel pump should have adequate fuel supply to start the car.
