This is a great video! I wish I knew more of this going into projects. I’ve been programming since about 2016, and a lot of the stuff I learned during the early days, comes from your channel. One of the biggest issues that I always had, especially early on, was that I’d plan out these huge ideas, down to every feature, and I would get really excited for a few weeks and work on it, but when it came down to getting the little stuff done, I would burn out, and a lot of games I worked on were never finished. The last game I worked on was my sophomore year of high school, or about five years ago. I ended up moving more towards DevOps/Software Engineering, where I have most of my professional experience. Interestingly, I’ve been keeping up with your return, and it actually inspired me to get back into some Game Development, so I ended up starting a small series (a two week challenge) So I didn’t get burned out, I intentionally set some ground rules. 1.) the only things I’m willing to plan are big picture, and very significant details to an overarching story. Everything else comes as it comes. 2.) During this challenge, I do not expect the cleanest of code, that can come later, 3.) Expect bugs, and not a full game. I’m only expecting the base of a single area, as I don’t want to overwork myself and burn out. This isn’t my full time job, and I’m doing this for fun. It should stay that way as long as possible.
My first priorities are to handle my life and work, and then move on to the game. I’ve had so many ideas that never got far or finished, due to burn out and lack of experience, so I’m glad that I’m able to come back when I have the experience to do a lot more, a lot better.
I’m currently a week into this challenge, and am really enjoying it, though the last couple of days, I’ve had to manage my personal life. Thanks for all you do.😊

Good advice on the dream game. When I had time to dedicate, I tried making an rpg in the style of older FF games and just got discouraged. Start small and slow and learn a good foundation before trying to match a big development studio.

I'm using the Unity 6 Preview, but I love it!
