I've started posting more! I used to post a photo maybe once a month , but now it's 2 feed photos & 3 reels a week. I engage with followers & update my story daily. While my likes have decreased significantly, I have finally reached 3K followers
amazing work! that's a huge amount of work and you should be so proud! i've definitely experienced a similar thing - I get less likes than I used to when I posted less often, but if you think about it on a longer term scale - like how many likes (or other engagement) you're getting a month now - I bet it's a lot more! it's just that it's spread out over more content, if that makes sense. and congrats on 3k!
Hi Katie! I'm an artist that's trying to grow my following. In February I was able to grow my account from 200 to 280, and the two things I did was post consistently with a little art challenge and posting reels. Reels def helped me with exposure, but even with the same kind of content (speed paints/ before-after videos), I feel like posting time made a big difference with how many views I got. Do you have any tips on when to post reels, and how long they should be?
@@cookiescream2456 Hello! Since I had a little art challenge where I tried to draw and post a cat-themed illustration every day, I had some kind of plan, but nothing like a batched schedule. I was able to make a post every other day, and maybe a reel every 2-3 days using the new art I made. Posting consistently with new content can be pretty hard as an artist though, since making the artwork itself takes time.
@@adadpapapiro Sooo so true. I'm kind of doing like a post daily, but i tried to go like two versions of the same art... will see the result in weeks hehe.. thank you so much for your answere, and keep working hard and having a great time!
Great video! I would love a video on how you can take UA-cam videos (like this one) and crop it so it can also be shared to reels and tiktoks. I've seen a lot of people do it, but I end it on imovie so maybe that's the problem. Seeing how you do it or would do it with your software would be super helpful though!
Love this! Each month I’m seeing a loss! I’m at 20.5k but started the year with 21k, I’m trying reels, hashtags, static posts, stories…. i saw huge growth in 2020 but now my reach is around 5%!? heellllppppp
yay, that's the best! having fun is so important! and will definitely add that to my list - I want to explore making more creative, viral reels - so hopefully I can conduct an experiment with that and then report back!
Great Video about info I had no idea about! I think you will get lots of followers over time as people discover your van life and making a living as a nomad. I know everyone talks about niches and it just doesn’t feel like the right route for me. I posted several hiking videos when we were on an adventure from Colorado to California last November and that created new followers. However now that I am in Europe and posting more about travel here ~ lost some of those followers. We have so many interests ~ hiking, kayaking, biking, LOTS of traveling, RVing, nomadic lifestyle, becoming residents of a new country, etc. Anyway ~ right now I am trying to create better REELS about all the awesome places we visited recently and posting 4-5 times a week. I had a couple of REELS seem to completely bomb (even though they were good) ~ I think due to music choices. I kept getting messages from IG about limiting them????? Also planning to review some videos about creating a You Tube channel and video editing to start making longer travel videos.
Its because IG are video focussed. My reels are getting thousands of views but if i post a photo, its a waste of time, max 100 likes and my audience is usually very engaged but just not seeing the photo posts!
it's definitely true that IG is video focused, but it's also that video just naturally tends to be more engaging and eye catching (across the internet, not just on IG) - but that doesn't mean that you should stop posting photos! even if you get less likes, if it connects strongly with some of your audience (or if you just really enjoy it) then you should definitely keep posting photos
I have a question about cross posting YT content to IG reels. I’m pushing my UA-cam right now via IG carousel posts because I’m trying to get to 1K followers and get monetized. I would love to post reels 2-3x a week to help my IG continue growing also, but I can’t create that in addition to 2 YT videos per week given I have a full time job. I have seen some people in my genre use clips from their YT videos to turn into IG reels, but I’m afraid if I do that, no one will want to come to YT channel to watch the full videos. What are your thoughts on this? I’ve learned so much from you but I’m a bit lost on this topic. ❤️
Thanks Katie! I have looked at my non followers reach but I have notice I am gaining followers with a decreased reach. What’s your take on running ads to increase reach? And do you do an Instagram audit? I’d love your opinion on my content/pager and where you think I could improve on.
hey Tiffany! my team and I at my business, Creatorly Media , offer all kinds of social media audits, including Instagram audits! you can see all the details at creatorlymedia.com :)
So my problem is, sometimes I'll post a reel & it flops. I'll be happy with 500+ views. I normally get like 800+. Lately everything has been 1k+ in views. I've brought in so much growth thanks to it. But when the reel flops, I'm like huh. What gives? I'll take it down the next day, and reupload it same sound and all, maybe I'll change the caption a bit, but then it does way better. Why is that?
I would LOVE a video about possibly "cleaning out" your followers? Should we go through and remove followers from people who aren't really active anymore? I personally have a lot of my first followers who might not be on IG much anymore or who don;t even see my content, are they valuable followers? Something a long these things would be great!
I have a 13.4k account and got 100 followers but my engagement rate is 1% and my story views are like .05% And my reels are under 1k view. So definitely horrible
I'm a romance writer and trying to build my author platform on Instagram. It took me months to even gain 100 followers, even though I post reels/photos + stories on the regular. Any tips for authors specifically?
Love your clarity and great tips on growth. I record a daily Meditation from a book and want you start doing short reads from books when this book ends..can I do this in Reels? I want more engagement.. P.S..I love your glasses and no ring light. I need to learn how you do that..
my insights just give me the % increase in followers but it doesn't give me the actual number of new followers gained. does anyone know how to fix that?
Anyone has an idea if Instagram is willing to release Reels for the rest of the world? 😅 or the rest of us living in left out regions are doomed to be stagnant.. love the content about creating reels but FOR WHAT
I know it sucks so much that they don't have it worldwide yet! but from what I heard, with them releasing reels as a Facebook feature as well, I think it's going to becoming more global! like you might have access to facebook reels already? i'm not sure!
@@katie thank you for your answer Katie! From what I heard from my friends, they can't use it on Facebook either, but not for sure.. because on instagram it depends on the account, sometimes people get lucky here to have access already even if my country is an exception. But I will keep learning, thank you for your videos 😊
I have had a crazy month! From 1800 followers to 9,500 - due to reels! Thank you so much for all your videos
omg that's amazing! great work! 🙌🏻
I did this everyday for a month and nothing, we're you posting 7 days a week
It happened to me and I only posted two reels per week. You really have to make sure your content stands out for the algorithm to push it out.

that's okay! we all go through cycles of ups and downs when it comes to reach and engagement. the important thing is to keep on going :)
I don’t think my growth matters much because the likes still haven’t grown. Like what are they there for?? I have no idea what ppl want to see.
I don’t get questions from followers. They just put heart eyes and fire signs.
