I have just the Actron connector to read the flashes off the dashboard on my 92 Buick. It was a step up from using a paper clip. However, I do like that OTC tool.
Thank you for sharing, I own a 94 Chevy impala SS. I love my 94 & as a mechanic. I’m never selling her. Love what you do & thank you for sharing. I jus subscribed 💯🇺🇸
Hello. I have a 94 lss 88. 62K miles. Bought it for 2K. I just dumped $1900 to fix a coolant head leak. It took forever for my mechanic to find the right seal and downpipe. Now the check engine light and the battery light comes on and off and it seems to lose power when driving. My mechanic says he cannot read with the OBD2 if the light is off and that he needs a special convertor to read the codes. And he can't find the right convertor. So I'm miffed as to what to do next. The battery and alternator is good. Any thoughts? Thank you very much.😊
The earlier GM’s with the rectangular connector can be jumped to get the codes to flash using the check engine light. There are lots of possibilities, but low power is usually MAF, MAP sensor or fuel pump related…usually. :)
Hi, my 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, is in an auto mechanic shop. The issue with the car is it will drive but will shut off when idling. My car has been in the shop for 5 months because my local mechanic claim they cannot find the right OBD to run a diagnostic, any suggestions, it’s urgent.
The 92’s use an OBD 1 connector, many shops won’t have them because of the cars age many are no longer on the road. From my experience with them, either there is a vacuum leak, a problem with the idle air control, or if the problem occurs only coming to a stop at lights the torque convertor clutch system. Hope this helps.
@@JimmyMakingitwork thank you, I appreciate your time and advice.I’m really anxious to find out what’s going on. My car is in good condition other than, this problem, I’d hate to let it go over an easy fix I can’t diagnose 😕 I found a Bosch 1300 OBD1 scanner on Amazon. Hopefully it works
@@JimmyMakingitwork Oh good tip, Jimmy. I didn't even thi nk of that, considering I use my jump pack for a small compressor to check and air up my tires. #Brainfog
I would not try it unless you can find a connector pin chart that identifies the wires. They usually allow it, but the 30 pin is different from the OBD1 connector.
Yes Tony, should work great for that! I use it on all OBD1 vehicles with good results. Make sure the power outlet has good power and you’ll get some data to help with diagnosis!
Any of you guys still work on OBD1 vehicles?

What do you do if the lighter doesnt work in the vehicle ? Does it come with a wire to clamp to the battery ?
Yes Wolley, it includes alligator clips and I usually use a jump box for power in that case.

would this work on a 30 pin OBD1 Citreon Saxo?

Hi would this work on a 95 olds cutlass supreme with obd1

@@JimmyMakingitwork Thanks for the reply. I just ordered a Bosch OBD 1300 scan tool. Supposed to work on cars with obd 1, 1.5 and 2 👍🏼
That scanner looks the same as the Bosch 1300.
It may be rebranded by several manufacturers and Bosch actually makes them?
@@JimmyMakingitwork I'm guessing you're right. Nice little scanner!
@@JimmyMakingitwork I'm wondering of the OTC, Bosch 1300 and Actron CP9690 are the same scanner, all three-look similar maybe rebranded?
