I cannot believe there is anyone who thinks the prosecution made their case beyond a reasonable doubt.
No doubt she’s a killer.
Beyond reasonable doubt isn’t a 100% certainty test. I think the defence was just good at creating smoke screens are hyping up irrelevancies (everyone with a phone fitness app knows it takes time to update steps if the app isn’t directly open on the screen). I’d vote guilty.
Just curious even with the unbiased accident reconstruction guys saying he couldnt have been hit with a vehicle?

24 years in a squad car, and I have to say I have never seen cops so unprofessional in my life . Things have sure changed since I pulled the pin in 1993. There has to be a Not Guilty here, the case is such a horrid mess of unprofessional acts by LEOs and the DA.

My first comment on a UA-cam video! I was in an accident. I asked how the other driver was and was told they were unconscious. I freaked out and started crying saying, “if they die, it’s my fault, I didn’t see them.” It wasn’t until the other driver’s hearing I found out that they were driving 80 in a 25, drunk, unlicensed, being chased by highway patrol due to running two other cars off the road, no lights on at dusk, and never touched their brakes as they hit me. I think in a panic, some people just start blaming themselves.

AJ is a terrific pro. The judge answered essentially, “this is how we always do it.” How we always do it is not the same as the best we can do… she’s totally outclassed.
I think Karen was laughing at the irony of the judge saying “I was tired/ I am tired.” because she (Karen) probably didn’t sleep at all last night and likely won’t until verdict day. My heart breaks for Karen. She doesn’t know if a group of 12 strangers will determine if she rightfully goes free or is locked up for the rest of her natural life for a crime she didn’t commit.
The fact that it is taking this long is infuriating. She is factually innocent!!!

We’ll that’s your opinion - I would vote guilty. I have no doubt personally. I’m not buying the made up conspiracy theory. You can’t just tell me a story and think I’ll believe it. Who else is charged with anything here? Believe the evidence. She did it. Hopefully the jury gets it right - guilty of manslaughter and leaving the scene.

She absolutely was and that is the very reason it is so inappropriate that she has the audacity to call out Karen Read especially to embarrass her intentionally infront of all the people who are there blatantly against her who probably are the guilty parties

A police officer not coming out of his house when another officer is injured or dying on his front lawn is someone who is hiding something. And he knew because Jen ran into the house. Dog was already gone. No way that dog would have let her just run into the house all the way into the bedroom without barking. She heard no bark saw no dog. RIP Chloe.

She either has no self-awareness, or she simply doesn't care if she sends an innocent person to prison without their guilt being proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
This is a great point. Along the same lines, how dare she admonish the defendant for some nervous laughter as she's fighting to keep her freedom. It's just another day at work for the judge (tired or not - shoot, I work tired all the damn time) but it's the rest of Karen's life at stake. That "excuse me, Miss Read, you think that's funny?" was so immature!

As a lay person he is one of the best criminal attorneys I’ve ever seen
To be completely fair, the common wealths case was insanely horrible. It didn't take much to poke holes in the "witnesses" testimonies... I mean the reconstruction "expert" was horrible and then we got that Jen lady who was interesting, then proctor trooper... I think most people would look amazing going against these goons

As a retired paralegal of many years, I have to agree with that assessment! It's pretty bad when he out-lawyers the judge and prosecutor at every turn, and bar room bare-knucles classy while he's doing it
As someone who has NEVER sat as a juror, not giving the CLEAR OPTION for Not Guilty would confuse me. And the Judge knows it!!!!

If you google Mass Jury forms you will find several examples where there is a yes/no or guilty/not guilty for each charge.

Her tendency to leave things to the last min, & seemingly, not make ANY decisions... to just leave them in limine puts a larger imposition on the defense... it's screwed up that the forms aren't throughly prepared & finalized by the FAY PRIOR. If she needs to put off the jury instructions for a day, that's what needs to happen so the lawyers can work out the instructions. COME ON!! Shes unorganized & ridiculously confused & confusing, unnecessarily! Bev... this isn't ur calling. Get back to lawyering. Ppl- VOTE HER & DA OUT!

Completely agree. AJ is fighting for his client. On such a high profile case surely she can see the reason for making the form absolutely clear. This is just lazy. Why is she over complicating this when she couldn’t be bothered changing it in the first place?

If she said she would consider it, then never told the defense lawyers, at least, that she decided not to change it, and sent it in with the jurors, she's playing dirty! Her excuse, that she was "tired", fell flat with me, because everyone is tired, and this is a woman's freedom at stake! Did she let the prosecutors know? Did she call someone for advice, like Procter? LOL. Her attitude today is terrible!

@@hnraj9441 I don't know anybody. It looks to me like this entire free Karen Read campaign has poisoned people's minds. That turtle and Karen Reid worked together with countless, secret, encrypted communications. FACT.
In fact, she might be charged with witness intimidation or tampering just like the reptile was for harassing families and friends of witnesses, and even showing up at a child's sporting event. There is no way these good, law abiding families would have done such a thing, any more than YOU would kill your friend in a most brutal way for no reason and then blame another friend and their entire family of framing you and covering up your crime. Like they would all stick to the script and no one would have a conscience and report It to authorities? This is what they want you to believe. Oh, and their pet dog suddenly became an attack dog and they said "go bite him Chloe." Think about her story. It is insane to think that would happen anywhere, ever.
Let's not forget, this state turned a 5 year old innocent child over to another state because of the blasé attitude like this judge has and now we're looking for a body of an innocent child. Her attitude is offensive to this future potential juror.
Oh my goodness, which case is that? The cases of children falling through the cracks of the system anger me more than I can say, especially after a friend of mine was harassed for 6 mos by DCFS because her babysitter’s toddler threw a sippy cup at her toddler daughter and a small bruise at her eye prompted daycare to call (not saying the daycare was not wrong to call, don’t get me wrong). So they investigated, and the babysitter confirmed it happened in her care, what the incident was. But because my friend was a single mom and working long hours to support herself and her child, that caseworker was an absolute terror. My friend was a single mom because her partner died of a vehicle accident before she knew she was pregnant. His family never helped or wanted anything to do with his child, and her family was very much “float on your own,” too. She is an amazing mom, but I’m not kidding when I say that caseworker was a terror. Used the long work hours to keep the case open, made scheduling visits difficult, hounded her on length of mini blinds and other small bs. Mini blinds put in by the landlord. She kept her apartment immaculate, and did everything right as a mom. And yet the children that really need help, like Harmony Montgomery, fall through the cracks because the caseworkers are “overloaded.” Maybe if they wouldn’t harass families that are investigated and found to be clear of issues, they wouldn’t be so overworked 😡

I'm maybe repeating myself but what's funny is that the Judge asked the District Attorney to back her up and he didn't. She essentially told the out of state defense attorney "That's how we do it in Massachusetts, right Mr. DA?" and he essentially said "NOPE". Karen is right, that's hysterical!

@@theghostofrethsich2813 Spoken like someone who hasn't bothered to speak to or ask anyone on the ground in their communities working on prison reforms or even abolition. There are a lot of people with a lot of ideas about how to change the system for the better. The issue is that all of them involve dismantling the prison industrial complex as it exists and the profits involved and fascists don't let you know implement policy that remove their power or their capital peacefully.
I feel very emotional about case. I lost faith in Canton police already but if they say she is guilty , I am going to be so upset. Over 90 percent of people watching the case think Nancy is innocent. If she is blamed for John’s death , cops like Proctor will continue to get away with covering up crimes.

How many experts does it take to convince a bunch of people from Massachusetts that a person being hit by a car travelling at 27 mph will bruise?

@@hollykeller1545 I've been knocked off a bike by a car and hit the road at about 5mph and I had terrible bruising along half my entire body. It's a no-brainer. I'm thinking there must be a family supporter in the jury.
@@TheGdav0202 It's important to keep in mind that a jury doesn't get to repeatedly watch all of their favorite lawtubers reviewing and breaking down the cases - often rewinding to rehear various bits of testimony, legal arguments, etc. - on a daily basis throughout the trial like we do. Until closing arguments are finished, they get what they hear in real-time with limited breaks and no opportunity to go over the what they heard and saw in any kind of detail (save perhaps for any notes they've taken) between each day's testimony.
A few days of deliberation - especially for a trial this long, and for something as serious as potential homicide - is hardly unreasonable or unusual.
@@VenathTehN3RD you are absolutely right. I think we are all just nervous about the prospect of an innocent person ending up in jail because of corruption and bias. It's terrifying because most of us wouldn't have the resources to fight this hard.
I think it has everyone who has watched this trial on edge and impatient.
The head injury slowed his heart rate. The weather was freezing reducing blood flow. Hence no bruising. Factor in conditions.
Interesting to see Brian Albert's facial expressions while Jackson was giving his summary. His diverting eyes, difficulty swallowing, and anxious movements, clarified any questions I might have about the conspiracy corruption. Sad that they have sucked the O'Keefe family in to their little web while out-casting Karen who was grieving after an overwhelming morning being played by Jenn McCade and finding John and dealing with a Section 12 hospitalization.

I don't think many jurors know this and it would be especially helpful knowing ahead of time when it's expected to be a long trial. Jurors will end up misremembering testimony and disagree with each other during deliberations over what was said by whom.

This trial was a clown show. Anything other than not guilty on ALL COUNTS would be a travesty.
The prosecutions cade is that a collision happened at 2:30am more or less, but her car's rear light was essentially intact at 6:30am.

That’s not what I see in the police car video. It looks exactly the way it did in the port. Cops hasn’t even gone beat her car yet. More lies from the defence. Guilty.
Sheer physics shows that the car didn't hit his body: 1. No lower body injuries - or car drives in air? 2. Bite marks? or car bites? 3. Went 30 feet through air. or has a throwing crane? 4. Body was not there on snow before 6 a.m. Or was invisible man. 5. Arm has only scratches for 7000 lb car at 24 mph? or he's the bionic man?
@@stevenprice6957 It would help if you watched all of the evidence, then you'd know the video was altered. For reasons that couldn't be explained they mirrored it so right is left, and thats how the cops thought they could trick the jury into thinking that they didn't tamper with the car. Every hour is amatur hour at the Canton PD.

The judge finding Karen's expression offensive is ridiculous. John's mother spent the trial laughing, gesticulating and pulling faces. His brother spent 10 weeks glaring threateningly at Karen. Then we have the judge, who every time a good looking male witness arrived, grinned at them with her chin on her hand like a lovesick schoolgirl. She made the trial drag on through lack of full working weeks and I would have believed it was just scheduling but then one day she just announced they'd be leaving early because (paraphrasing) the weather was nice. She's had to "sleep on" a number of things. Saying things like "I'm tired" to someone with multiple serious illnesses is likely to make them laugh.
"It's how it's done in Massachusetts" is the entire problem. It's why John is dead, it's why Karen was blamed and it's why the real culprits will never be prosecuted. Bev's little corner of Massachusetts might want to start working differently to how they have in the past. To be clear I'm not insulting the people of Massachusetts or the people of Canton, just the legal system there.
It’s how things remain or even become corrupt. No oversight from the outside. Or, perhaps that’s bad too.

I rarely saw Karen smiling and I watched the entire trial. Of course she smiled here and there over a 10 week trial and there’s nothing wrong with that. Why is everything so shady?!

I agree! I hope the FBI takes a look at her too! She's been bias towards the defense from Day 1! Her rulings thru out the trial has been pro prosecution. She clearly has an agenda! The Judge is doing everything possible to convict Miss Read. It was so obvious during this trial. The DUI test was done 6 hrs later.

There were several CW “witnesses” that sarcastically laughed while testifying and it was so rude but Judge Bev didn’t reprimand any of them.
We don’t know if she laughed or smiled. But I thought that was out of line. Who is she to dictate what emotions the defendant may experience. I’ve never seen a defendant treated so poorly.

In that same clip, before Canone admonished, Canone, herself, had seconds earlier inappropriately chuckled at important decisions that would determine Karen's freedom for years to come. Steps should be taken to replace Canone with someone whose goal is fairness, whose accomplishment is not abuse of power. Canone is diligent, but justice is not her pursuit.

To me this case boils down to 3 unbiased witnesses. Snow plow driver and the 2 engineers hired by the FBI. Lucky says he saw nothing after 2 passes and noticed a ford edge by the body at 3:30. And both engineers said the vehicle didn’t hit okeefe.
This judge is horrid. She should have recused herself from this case. I feel like she’s biased against the defence. She makes things as hard as possible for the jury and she picked on Karen. I hope the judge knows how unlikable she is. 🙄

She "considered it" because she didn't want it to be an appellate issue and then take a big risk of getting reversed on appeal. No judge wants that on their jacket! That's the real reason that she agreed to change it even if she didn't say so.

The closing argument was spot on. That could be YOU! Don’t look the other way. People were also making comments about her expressions when proctor was up and she was making facial expressions. I feel like she was “c’mon Proctor explain yourself” look. She was treated and degraded by the very same people that are there to serve and protect. I hope she is fairly just in this trial. I also hope that the BPD and other police departments ensure that we rid of the big headed officers of the law who use their position to treat citizens as if they are beneath them. We have them there to serve and protect us. We should also give grace to the good to those who risk their lives on a daily to protect the citizens. Get rid of the garbage. Start screening them out and clean house.
I actually agree with the defense, about the box checking. Because if I’m filling out paperwork and I don’t check a box, I’m always looking for the opposite box to check. If i leave it with no boxes checked, I feel I haven’t completed the form. It’s a psychological thing- we feel like we need to check the box if there’s boxes to check.
As a juror, I would rather see a guilty/not guilty box.
It’s like forms at the doctor’s office. There’s “I DO give my permission” or
“I do NOT give permission”. There’s a box to check either way.

When the jury went from 9 women 6 men to 6/6 split it worried me. Only a women can understand when we get angry and ignored we yell or cry we don't run people over.

@@Faretheewell608 you do realize that jury verdict forms can be written in a ridiculous amount of different formats/versions, right? And that they are written by both prosecutor AND defense atty., going back and forth until they are satisfied or the judge orders it written a certain way. However, it's the juries that have to understand them and most are not schooled in legal verbage. If she were to be found guilty there is a fairly good chance of reversal on appeal if proven that the jury form(s) confused the jury. No judge wants reversal on their record. That is the real hidden reason for her change of mind, IMO.
Still confusing! If no juror believes John O'Keefe was killed by the vehicle, then it should be NOT GUILTY and whether she was intoxicated or how much has nothing to do with it, since he was not killed by the car. Are they allowing her to be charged with a DUI even if they believe John was not killed by the vehicle? This is what it's about either he was killed by vehicle or some other way. This judge has put a stain on MA and the judicial system.

I can understand KR smiling, its just one BS part of this trial. Smiling can be a stress response, so much of the Judge's rulings are so absurd. KR is an intelligent & expressive woman, its been hard to sit without emotion for 30 days.

Right off the bat - Why doesn’t the judge simply make the changes that Jackson has requested? It’s probably a 1-page replacement assuming the jurors have hard copies. Or - she’ll need to reconvene the court to amend her instructions. Is she getting on a plane next Monday? I’ve seen trials when the jurors “think” that a hung jury equates to Not Guilty verdict. Jurors need to know what they’re doing, they’re not lawyers.

So when Jackson said he "just saw the verdict form" he was referring to the fact it didn't include the changes he'd requested the day before, correct? And she answers basically that she didn't see fit to make his changes.
