More natural selection: the mother who flies away will live to lay more eggs and pass on more genes, the mother who stays gets killed and her bloodline stops then and there
I rescued some ducklings once and fed them for a few days then went to release them at a lake. An adult mallard duck immediately killed one of the ducklings and the other duckling got swooped up by Crow. It was horrible. I grew up duck hunting and this happened when I was about 12. I had been duck hunting since I was 9 but it made me mad.
Well hawks are powerful birds for their size. If the mother duck dies, the ducklings will die anyway. If ducklings die, she can have more. Ducks breed multiple times a year, and often majority of ducklings are eaten by predators even with the most protective of mother ducks.
The mum wasnt trying to defend herself but instead lure the predator away from her offspring by making herself the target and trying to out-fly the predator as she stands a better chance. If you go to a place that has pheasents when they have chicks, the parents will fly away even though their chicks are hidden in the grass to take attention away from where the offspring are. Ducks arent smart, but they are still good parents.
These wgite beak ducks near me do the hey look at us approach while the ducklings stay near the middle of the water. I want to see where they are at during this heat wave. Still kicking myself for not sleeping in this chair outside at 5am. Had a mallard hatch her chicks the same day I came back from an out of town job. I thought she was still incubating then I checked later that night 30 mins after and saw tye newborn ducklings head. Used a dandelion stem to kind move the mothers wing a bit to get a better look. So suprises that she didn't use her beak attack on me since she was doing the equivalent of hissing. So pissed at myself. I wanted to see them wadle to the water. 7 eggs but like 6 hatched and saw them later that day in the storm pond. Evening only 4 and the next day didn't see none... I know they were constantly swiming and couldn't even get rest at another waterborn nest (the white beck ducks where like back off this nest is a resting spot for our kids only). Crow was near the banks.... I will check tomorrow to see the 8 white beck ducklings but not sure if the heat wave zapped the young ones.
Nah, she ran away to save herself, but if that somehow works out better for ducklings, then natural selection promotes that. What you're saying would be like "ducks mate with the intention of ensuring the furthering of their species," when in reality, they're just driven by the urge to get a little bit of quack-quack.
HEY!!! Is what you say if a human kidnapped another human. What happened in this video is nature of the beast, you should never interfere man...c'mon!!! Bloody hell...
She knew that the open field in front of her was dangerous to cross because she had to have known the hawk was close in the trees. It would of been nice for someone to have walked her and the ducklings to the lake.
Eaten duck had one little slip, fell in a hole which delayed it a second and separated it from the pack leaving it easy picking for the bird. The others, as ducks are, could care less about its sibling and headed to safety. The hen as well.
Dude yells at the hawk like it was going to say, "shit sorry" and turn back.
lolllll
😂😂😂😂
Lol... well yeah.... duh. 🤣🤣
🤣🤣
that was the best reaction at that moment to try to save it, stop being pretentious.
"Sorry kids but you're on your own! Make good life choices, bye, momma loves you!"
Was a little surprised she dipped so fast. Most of the time mallard mothers are fierce protectors. Even with BOP
@cliff yea typical western mothers
@@bmr1113012 I know, right? This one spotted an incoming bird of prey and she was all "beep beep" *zip-tang* she was outta there.
😳😬
😀
"Kidnapped" is probably the wrong verb. No amount of ransom is gonna see that duckling back with its nearest and dearest,
Natural selection in action: the slow duckling was the one that got picked off.
it wasnt slow it just got pushed off to the back
look likes it tripped. was just unlucky.
@@Ascend777 shouldnt be fucking tripping then XD
More natural selection: the mother who flies away will live to lay more eggs and pass on more genes, the mother who stays gets killed and her bloodline stops then and there
lmao he yelled out ''HEY'' like the bird was gonna stop
Everything has got to eat something...
Lol yelling "hey" like the hawk or whatever it was is gonna be like "👀! Oh shit! My bad." 😂😂
yes!🤣🤣🤣🤣 Ridiculous
"Understandable, have a nice day."
@@walkera170 no just human....yeh AO
Lol, most of the time when a predator goes for a duckling. The mother tries to defend them.
But a hawk comes and she's like.
"Fuck this!"
That was a big Red Tail. Mama wanted no part of that Hawk. Told her ducklings, "see ya".
Well, you know what they say :
You don't need to be able to outrun the bear. Just outrun the guy next to you.
Ya, we know about the bear, but what about hawks?

Welcome to life. 'No excuses, only consequences'
Lol
Mallard ducks are freaking ruthless.
Duck: That's my boy
Duck: NO MY BOY
Duckling: Mother Help
Don't quite understand yelling at it. Let nature take it's course.
Its even more sad when you see the ducklings siblings trying to run after the hawk trying to get their brother/sister back at the end 😢

1:00 "Hey!"... Put that back?
Bird : hunting for it's life
This guy : hey! Stop kidnapping youngs!
LOL momma duck was just like Fffff dat shit, bye guys
Lmao the guy, yelling ,"Hey!!" to the bird 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣🤣 hawk; ok sorry and give duck back
This year's mother of the year award goes to......
0:58 you can hear the panic quaking because of the Eagle🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What is "Hey!" supposed to do to the hawk? Hahaha
Ducklings...the chicken Nuggets of nature
mother only thought of herself
Ron Veri I think thats why she has only few babies.
If 1 of 4 babies dies, she can take care of 3 others. If she dies, all 4 are ded.
Ron Veri mom can live to have more babies
Yes but she can mate again
did you not think that she was trying to distract the predator.
I now see why she had like 4 out of 15 left. She actually probably would have attacked it if it had been a hawk more her size
Duck: Adios....
Poor baby got swooped by the hawk while the other ones tried to run to the bushes :(
Mom just dipped💀
I saved 5 ducklings .... best Nuggets i ever had
it's just nature taking its course
@Milan4ik hahahah youre funny you know
the way you can see the duck jumping and flapping its wings trying to fly away 😭
You can't escape the jaws of the hawnk 😊
Wow, what a great mother...
It's definitely a hawk. Owls hunt at night!
hey. HEY. 🤣🤣🤣
Seeing the hawk, mother duck said, " You are on your own ducklings?"
Only 4 ducklings.....
These guys BEEN getting picked off...
Oh shyt mama duck got the hell outta the way. 🤣
What a good mother
"Kidnapped"? Did you think the bird that grabbed the duckling was going to hold it for ransom?
Red tailed hawk right there. Big one too or the mother duck would've tried to fight it.
Funny!

Did the mother tell you this?
No ,the mother was not luring the hawk.

Thanks for giving me a great excuse to use the next time I cowardly run away from someone being attacked 🙏
So is this where the term sitting duck originated from
I thought mother was going to protect 😂but she ran away👀
That ducking wasn’t kidnapped. It was eaten, no need to sugar coat it.
mother of the year
ItS tHe CiRcLe oF LiFeEeEeEeE
Remember a few years ago where I lived a duck had 11 ducklings, I think at only 3 made it to adulthood
because u probably murdered the 8 others right?
Ducks have large broods because most will not make it to adulthood and are eaten by predators or die.
"Au revoir, Shoshanna!"
If it was a hen, she would have tried to protect her chicks.
Trinston was here...
HEY!!! Is what you say if a human kidnapped another human. What happened in this video is nature of the beast, you should never interfere man...c'mon!!! Bloody hell...
The mom straight up left the kids. Lol
MOM FORGOT TO SAY, "DUCK"!!!🥴
Well, you're watching this in the middle of the night...
You don’t usually see the mother bail like that.
I think it's a bit more then kidnapped
Duck..Duck.. Shhiiiittttt
Imagine getting kidnapped
Damn Hawks always aim for the slowest one..smart
*Boondocks*
the duckling had messed up by tripping... sucks tbh
Bir tanesini kaptı gitti

Duck sees bird: IM OUT
Ducklings: U son of a bitch
Seriously that duck is a bitch
I doubt it was an owl since they are nocturnal animals.
Wtf your screaming at? That thing took his breakfast he got right to eat too

imagine if the hawk just stop after the guy yelling " EYH " and start looking the dude and say " wtf? i need to eat, nigga"
Nature can be cruel. Still this is very very very sad.
its normal. this is food for the hawk
Weakests never survives
its sad and funny at the same time
