FWIW I am a very fat rider at 260lb and 18XL has worked great for me in my first 100 miles. I live in a hilly area and haven’t gotten any overpowered warnings. I also try to ride at above 35% battery. I don’t use power pads and definitely am a more mellow rider. I don’t overlean etc. My max speed on it has been 28mph but am usually cruising closer to 17-22mph.
Someone had said I’d get the urge to get a faster wheel and cruise in the 30s in no time. But that hasn’t happened. This wheel truly is good enough for my use cases.
Anyways this comment is dedicated to other “heavy” riders. If I were you I’d probably avoid going full lean on anything (maybe Sherman??) and from that perspective you may as well go with the 18XL. It’s such a smooth ride and it can support up to 300lb according to eWheels. Of course the more buffer there is between your weight and the max, the better. But this wheel hasn’t yelled at me yet

I have a master and a lynx but still bought a KS18L with the 2200w motor. I take the TGV with it, 13km to go to the train station from my home, it is so smooth... You cruise at 40 to 45km/h and just enjoy the ride. When riding my master, I cruise like 20kpj above that but it's not the same pleasure.... Really, being so low to the ground, so light, so well put together.... It is an experience on its own.

I just upgraded from V8F I got in August 2021 to 18XL V2, which comes with spiked pedals and mini-power pads (protrusions at front and back of upper pads). Pedal height is about 15 cm (manual states 16 cm), with a slight angle. With the increase from 16 kg to 24 kg, the tire flexes more over small bumps, resulting in a smoother ride (vs V8F).

Clocked 4000 km on my 18L not so long ago. Been riding (and falling) on it through whole winter. If I'd have to point out any issues after that mileage it would be that trolley handle having quite the opposite issue to yours, have to wiggle it to be able to close it. Also sometimes when you'll close it too... "accurately" the lift switch just won't turn the motor on once again, so gotta inspect that. Apart from that there's some water filling my front light probably from the bottom so I gotta check seals. Other than that, no issues at all. I also hope for new revision of 18L/XL with slight improvements, because for now... if I'd upgrade my 18L then it'd be only 18XL.

I have 9000km on my first KS18XL I broke the inner shell after 8000kms with a lot of offroad, after its replacement (100€ and labor) I decided to sell it, the new owner is at 11000 kms without problems. 2 months after selling it, I missed it so much that I bought another one 😆😅 (I have a Sherman, MSP, ks16s and ks18xl)

I have an 18XL with over 15.000 km on the clock. My trolley handle has the same problem as yours but it resulted in dropping the wheel several stair cases in a row. I tought I destroyed the wheel but only the handle took minor damage, what really surprised me. Once I broke the inner shell. I have now the white one which is more sturdy. From the outside it is still black. Newest problem is that the handle doesn't stay in its lower position which makes the wheel hard to cary. Also I had to replace all screws because the stock ones are garbage. But over all I am really impressed with the quality and the reliability of the wheel. On tire changes I noticed water getting inside the wheel, but it can't reach important parts like connectors or even the mainboard. I used the wheel in monsoonal rains which killed my IP rated headlamp but not my wheel. With beeps and tiltback this wheel is pretty much foolproof unless you really try. Still one of the best and maybe the best all around wheel.

As an interested euc entry, i decided to look back at such wheels because they suit my interests: sub-70 lbs, good portability, commuting speed/range. My wishlist in addition to my interests would be a 3” tire, ul and ip ratings for safety, suspension (older knees) thus the coming s19 is on my radar. Back to reality, i am considering an entry so the learning curve is a consideration, crashing/injury to me and the euc, but i don’t want a fleet of PEV’s. One to buy, learn, ride, and decent euc for when i’m beyond a beginner (not adventure riding, just comfort commuting). WW, please review the more boring commuters euc’s that one could carry up 2 or 3 staircases.

we don't need IP rating. Just the manufacturer to put the effort in for water resistance. IP ratings are expensive. I'd be happy with a manufacturer guarantee. May sound weird, but as a OnePlus (phone) user for multiple generations all without an IP rating (well they do now), but you can see that the manufacturer still put the effort in.

      @@laniakeafilament2730 it's not a static amount.
The way I understand it is that the manufacturer has to buy specific equipment to test their stuff in order to get an IP rating. That equipment is expensive and when your margins are already pretty slim, I doubt they would just eat the cost of the equipment.
They would increase the cost of their wheels. Which personally I'd rather they just put some basic waterproofing on the wheel and let it be.

2100 urban miles on my 18XL, only issue I have at this time is a over sensitive lift switch that I don't trust to not engage at the wrong time, so I disabled it. This can be a pain when getting off on public transportation as I have to turn the wheel off to ascend/descend stairs. I will open the wheel later this year to do an inspection, cleaning and possible adjustment to see if I can make the lift switch function to my satisfaction again.
For my usage I probably would have been better off with the 18L as I might enjoy the lighter weight more but I can't complain at all about the range ability, so that is kind of a tough trade off in choices. I don't want a screen but I would like a battery level indicator like the V10F etc. Overall I am quite happy with the 18XL and will be keeping it for the foreseeable future.

hi, im from spain, excellent video, you can see that you enjoy your wheels a lot, I have a question, I am a heavy user of 110 kg and I learned a 14 d which cut me off and shot me, well normal since it is a lot of weight for the wheel that is small and I was thinking between the Kingston 18 L and the XL I think the difference between these two is only the battery, right? Could the fact that the XL's battery is larger prevent it from being low and I demand a little more from it to be more sure that it doesn't cut me off? Now I was looking at the kidston 18S but I'm not much off road, I'm more of a city. Is it worth making the investment for the Kingston 18S? Does this wheel require more maintenance and care? I would say 18XL for range, V11 for comfort+range, 18L will be useless compared to those two 1500wh batteries...

I couldn't decide so bought both. 18XL feels a lot more responsive. The v11 is much more comfortable

Goodnight. Sorry to write in Portuguese. Someone can help me? I bought a second hand kingsong 18XL 2200W with 1500 km and updated the firmware to version V2.18. Now I am afraid that it is not for this unicycle and that it is not safe with this version. Can anyone tell me if it's less secure and if I should try to switch to another version. Thank you very much. Greetings from Portugal

everyone doing s20 videos, and talking about Master.
adam: here is the king song 18L. a 3 year old wheel. XD
ahha its cool. tho i wish they made NEW wheels that is in this category, but with smart BMS, safer, IP rating, built in GPS tracker(you just put in your own sim card), built in speaker and mic, and video cam so when someone steals it you can take pictures of them, and talk to them like hey!!! gimme back my wheel bro!! works great as proof to cops, great lights, hall-less sensors, keycode, etc. this will usher in and open up euc to a whole new segment of ppl looking for a sexy, hyper portable, personal electric vehicle. imho. too much to ask? 20 years too soon? no demand or interest? time will tell.

Only issue is it has an axle that might break after several thousand kilometers. Check out my latest “do not buy these EUCs” for further advice :)

How does the 18xl compare to the V12

    • @richardsulc183
      @richardsulc183 2 роки тому

V12 is a much powerful wheel, 16inch = way better torque. 18XL is a 40km/h cruiser, V12 is a 55km/h+ rocket. Range will be probably similar.

    • @familytvbox5218
      @familytvbox5218 2 роки тому +2

They have about same range, 18xl 20kmph slower than v12, but 18xl is around 10kg less weight.
18xl cheaper and has bigger 18" diameter wheel, v12 has wider 3" wheel.
18xl packed with waaaaay better handle.
18xl older wheel, way older, so almost every issue that it had in the past is already fixed by now, and it is ready to be used out the box, where v12 has cutout motherboard issues yet.
Plus, there is two options 18l or 18xl - depending on your needs.

KS18L is solid but outdated (4 years), weak performance, small battery, thin tire, bad lights, no seat option. And very high price - more than Rs.
It definitelly should be upgraded, but probably wont.
For today Rs is much better choice, offers more for same price.

Kingsong should seriously consider creating new version of the S18 and 18L(18XL), with the same shell, but with a more powerful motor, and a higher top speed.
For example, a Kingsong S18 ''V2'' with a 2500 or 2800 W motor, and with the same 1100 Wh battery, but with a max speed of 60 or even 70 km/h would sell like crazy.
Also, a Kinsong 18XL, with a 2500 or 2800 W motor, with a top speed of 60 or 70 kph, with the 1550 Wh battery, would be a great success.
Smaller battery size cost less, and weight less, and are great for city erands. Both would become competitor of the Inmotion V12.
Engineering would be simple, both wheel shell are already designed....

You need a larger battery with more powerful motors for it to be able to handle voltage sag without a cutout
