    The best point of the EUC for me: Integration with public transport. There's simply no other vehicle that I can take with me in a train or a bus as easily as the EUC. It's the perfect "Last mile" vehicle. You can even use it as a portable chair when train is full. =D

    • @frederickoparah1669

    • @Lucaslfm1
      @Lucaslfm1 4 роки тому +29

      @@godless9010 I don't need a high speed/long range wheel since the main part of the commute is done by train, my v8 is more than enough. I don't wear any protective gear as well, since I don't need to go over 35km/h. Any how, it would still be easier to commute in train with a V-Sherman and bike gear than with a E-bike or Scooter.
      I'm looking toward to get a V11 with a seat, It's so tall, would be great to use as a chair in the train =D.

      The only problem with euc’s are the significantly higher price point to entry vs a scooter. A nine or max can be had for $800 with a range of 24 miles at max speed, or even a high powered 60v 30ah Samsung powered scooter can be bought off of alibaba for $1400. Eucs start above that price point for the most part and the learning curve is much much higher. You can pass a scooter off to anyone and they will be up and riding in 5 seconds. The mastery of learning to ride an euc is where the risk/reward is at.

    I think EUCs are a lot safer than OneWheels also. I love my OneWheel, but the sideways stance makes it much harder to run off falls and the nosedives are a constant threat which can't be completely eliminated by rider skill.

    Being a motorcyclist for 60+ years, I wish I could have one, but now can'i afford a fall.
    I really envy you younger people.
    What a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and urban transportation.
    I honestly don't believe they are viable on unprotected roadways, like unlit roadways at night.
    Drivers in vehicles may not be able to see riders well enough.

    Very informative, well presented (as expected) - I particularly like the emphasis on developing your own exoskeleton - even with experience you will part company with the vehicle from time to time and you want to bounce, not crash.
    I think it helps to know how to fall, and I think you pick that up early or not at all. With me it was sports like skiing and soccer ("football" in EU, but even American football helps). Something like gymnastics or martial arts would be excellent. You seldom have the time to think or plan your landing, so it has to become instinct.

I have an electric kick scooter w/c weight 30kg... it's a problem lifting it 'coz i have stairs going to our house that's why i've bought MCM5 340wh yes speed & range sucks but enough for commute going to work & home also i have abit play time before going home... Portability 17kg easy lifting it going upstairs & space management easy to put on a car compartment of in-between ur leegs... Not in a hurry to upgrade but waiting for your review on RS HT 'coz its a very hilly place here in my place... Gotta love that water crossing wish all euc can do that...

    Which EUC were you riding in this video? There are so many qualities and cons with each EUC, I can't decide which one to get. But I do like the foot stoppers on the one you are riding, and the sharp turning radius it appears to have, without peddle bite. Edit: Never mind, looks like the Inmotion V11. I didn't know you could add those foot stoppers to it. That certainly helps narrow down my choice. Early videos I saw of it, it looked and sounded like it was difficult to speed up on or to jump with because of a lack of contact and grip with the device. Doesn't seem like an issue with those. I just wish it had a speedometer and odometer without needing to use an app. Otherwise, it might be perfect.

      grow a pair )) sorry for that. you have to mod your wheel for solid grip to fully utilize it, put some Kuji pads or cut yoga mat and glue it on hard edges, replace bolts in pedals with set screws. I had ks-14d which weights ~14kg and put neoprene pads following Kuji guide in "How to jump with any electric unicycle", I was able to hop on 23cm curb every time (watch Sidestreet Reny for ks-14 tricks, he is really in to jumping), after 2500km I turned it and got ks-16s v2, which I really love, I learned to idle and reverse with it, it weights 17kg and I can travel 20-30 km not getting too tired, i glued some eva pads and able to jump on 33cm curb like 9/10 times now if I'm not too tired, that's my physical limit - I weight around 70kg and do more sitting (coding) then walking.

    Ok a one wheel scooter is called a EUC. So what is a two side by side wheel called? I’m talking about the original self-balancing Segway style scooter.

    2 more things I would like to know!
    1. What to do when a wheel gets punctured?
    2. Can I go to office in a professional attire, and without safety gears, when I become ride-safe ?

    • @monowheeling
      @monowheeling 2 роки тому +2

      1. Either use Slime which with some luck fixes it or you need to change the tube. Depending on the wheel and your skills this is a 20-120 minutes job. UA-cam is your friend on how-to. 2. I bought some gear 6 years ago and used some of it maybe a few times. I haven't been wearing any gear since in more than 20,000km of riding (same for cycling). I have taught quite a bunch of people without using any gear. Learning to keep your knees flexed and how to let go and step off rather than be sent flying when something goes wrong is more important than any gear. However, if you want to ride the EUC like a motorcycle or above 25km/h, I guess you better keep using gear.

    Here in Sweden. You can not go over 20km/h on eBikes, eScooters etc. has there is no road insurance for them. Fast then that you need a moped AM liecnce and insurance and must have a number plate. I have seen police take away eScooters at the roadside and make the rider walk has they are going to fast. But we do have great sidewalks when riding all over Sweden.

    • @MrMuzica69
      @MrMuzica69 3 роки тому +1

      Stop asking others what is safe for you! Just feel safe. Of course he will say... get protected from top to bottom as he doesn't want to feel responsible that you felt and hit yourself. For almost 3 years i ride euc (V8 and now v11) and i have never ever wear any protective equip. And here i am after more than 5000 km without a scratch! Be responsible, be safe and you will feel the freedom of riding the EUC light as a feather without tons of equipment. Have fun and be aware of your surroundings.

      I would never ride anything without a helmet, gloves, wrist protection and knee protection. Doesn't matter how skilled you are when someone else causes you to go flying. Even pedestrian can suddenly be in your way and make you fall hard.

    thanks for the video! that answers most of the questions I had so much appreciation for your thoroughness. One question though related to "exercise". I have an e-bike and when I ride it, I'm always "air-pedaling"...meaning pedaling but not fast enough to match the speed of the hub motor. LOL I pretty much do it for at least a tiny bit of exercise. Would you say you get more exercise riding an EUC than riding a E-bike? It looks like there's a bit of isometric tension going on in the legs and also you're standing as opposed to sitting.
    I know...stupid question...and why don't I just go for a run, right?
    The answer is: Because a run isn't very fun! And swimming (my usual exercise) isn't something I do anymore since COVID because you don't have to wear a mask in public swimming pools and I have become a total germ-o-phobe!
    Thanks for additional information here! and sorry for the looooonng winded approach to asking it.
    Give me a short story and I can make it long with added details no-one cares about! Maybe I should do youtube videos,right? LOL

    • @znail4675

      It's actually a lot of work when you are a new rider and you may need rest breaks. After you get used to it so is it more work then walking (time wise, not distance). You could compare with it with downhill skiing in very gentle and flat slope. It's not bad exercise as it fills the most important criteria, it's fun. Any excise you do is better then one you wont do because it's boring.
