I care and I'm glad you took the time to explain the work ethic a person like Whitney had to have and the responsibility that she carried. I have enough compassion in my heart to understand the pressures of her life. Whitney was a superstar and I don't think there has been a vocalist that was in more demand to constantly sing than she was. People don't get how huge of a star she was. When I want to hear some for real, straight up, beautiful singing, I listen to Whitney. Her voice is like medicine to the soul.

I appreciate this reaction by Ken Tamplin for a number of reasons which coincide with how I saw Whitney:
    A) She is always "in it" which means her performances are not just a "put on" ( a show), but she sincerely believes what she sings. In other words, she sings in service to the sing - got it?!
    2) Her emotive ability is legendary - she is so believable!!
    3) She never overdo her runs, vibrato or Melissa. These are always strategically delivered for maximum effect, and not for showing off her licks
    4) Her legendary ability to command an audience, just by opening her mouth and releasing that God given instrument ( her vocals). Note, she is never skimpily dressed to attract attention- her stunningly natural beauty and God given instrument ( vocals), accompanied by a one of a kind tone, subtle transitions between head and chest voices, tremendous power and beautiful lyrical phrasing among other notable qualities easily sets her apart from her competition and peers collectively.
Whitney is in a class all by herself - very difficult to question this assessment, given this Queen of the Divas' career achievements !!
    Love you and always will!!

What's amazing about this performance is that Whitney is not in her prime. Her lifestyle choices are clearly having an effect on her breath support and tone AND SHE STILL SERVES US KILLER VOCALS.

Pop Land Folks always credit Whitney's vocal decline to drugs, No other singer music had their voice tossed thru the ringer the way Whitney's was and I really wish people would take that into consideration more regarding her decline.

Winette86 yes. She toured severely, had multiple miscarriages, immense fame, rocky marriage, being a mom while being a singer, etc. the woman went thru so much and it shows through her art. Usually a artists best work comes from the pain they have endured. Whitney really was a great light and not a lot people understand that.

I miss Whitney so much. Thank goodness we have so many albums and recorded performances of her to enjoy again and fo ever. She will never be forgotten. You are so right that there is far too much stress on recording artists and infact people in general and the situation continues to get worse . As the husband of a naturopath and practice manager for our Clinic "Oakmead Clinic" I fully support the use of first natural methods rather than western medicine with its heavy reliance on pharmaceutical drugs to look after health and wellbeing, As ever love your reaction and commentary on Whitney.

Again, excellent critique from Ken Tamplin. Apart from highlighting the many unique qualities of Whitney's vocal perfection/prowess, he reminds us , the audience, of the tremendous pressures artists/singers of the calibre of a Whitney Houston are under every time they perform before a live audience, due mostly to the abnormally high expectations to which they are subjected by such audiences. There is this perception that it was all glamour and glitter, but behind that show biz persona was a kind hearted, bona fide and most loving of human beings, who just needed someone or people to understand that like all human beings (not all singers) she was not perfect, and above all else, did not ask for much. All she asked for was some privacy and to be loved in return, since she clearly and in no uncertain terms, epitomized true love!!!
The world has lost not just the most talented and gifted singer that ever lived, but a most caring, selfless, humble and above all, most loving human being to ever grace mother earth!!
I will always be sad because of her passing, but take comfort in rich, unparalled musical legacy she has left us.
    Baulbeer

Perhaps part of Whitney's brilliance was her sensitivity. I appreciated your discussion about all the responsibility that was put onto her, & my condolences about your brother. That kind of sensitivity can easily get dragged under by addictions. This world is not easy for highly sensitive people. I am glad there is more attention being given to the causes of addiction through people like Gabor Mate. Looking deeper into this allows for compassion for the person suffering from addiction rather than strict blame or anger. With this awareness, I believe more people can be helped with kindness & understanding of the true source of the need to escape.

This is my favorite recording of this piece. I’ve listened to it often and between her soft voice, half chest, full voice, head notes, squalling and runs I’ve detected that she employed at least sixteen different vocal techniques in this song.
Judy Garland set the standard for female vocalists in the 30s and 40s, Barbra Streisand in the 60 and 70s and then Whitney raised the bar in the 80s through the 90s.
She was more than a pop singer. Between her mother, legendary gospel singer Cissy Houston, her aunt Aretha Franklin the most legendary soul singer and her cousin Dionne Warwick a great singer of standards and popular music, Whitney Houston became the greatest and most technically trained female vocalist in history. They’re going to have to invent a new musical scale to top her.

Yes the pressure she was under,
    It’s say to say I’m
Not surprised how we lost her. She was literally the most famous and in demand voice in the entire world and EVERYONE wanted her to be in perfect voice every minute of everyday, while also constantly hearing every new singer with a strong voice that came out was the next Whitney. We propped her up, tore her down when she missed one note, then reminder her constantly that the next singer was ready to take her place. Combined with a destructive marriage, thousands of people and family depending on your for their livelihood, and drugs is the only escapism. Who could survive that?? RIP Whitney. Love you always and forever ❤️❤️❤️

She also suffered devastating miscarriages back to back just to do the movie and the tour she was in a lot of pain and even one miscarriage is enough to really destroy someone and nobody knows if she had postpartum depression she also wanted to stay home for 2 years with her daughter and was constantly pushed to make more music. It's sad how she was constantly treated as if she was a slave to the world in a human zoo. Sometimes I wish she never sang at all maybe her and Bobbi Kristina would be hear.

I so appreciate your reaction and insight into both this and the All The Man I Need Whitney video that you did. That woman often punches me in the ❤️, and seeing you get emotional over her ability, also punched me in the ❤️. So true what you said, and I'm sure people can't really grasp, the incredible pressure she was under for so long, with millions of people including her huge crew, wanting miraculous performances from her relentlessly, never enough. I've never heard anyone point that out so empathetically before. So thx. I'd love to hear you one day, if you had the time, review one of her early and other-worldly live vocal performances that are ridiculously superior to the two you've done. Eg A Quiet Place 1987 and I'm Changing (live 1986) - audio-only but unbe-freaking-lievable

That "rant" was perfect. Really beautiful and I'm glad you said it. Whitney actual spoke of "running all over a note" and how that's not what makes a great singer.

Whitney will always and forever have my heart! Godbless your brother!

Apart from Whitney's genius and legendary status, and vocal perfection, abundantly expressed in this performance, I really appreciate Ken Tamplin's reaction, as he said a number of things that I have always emphasized regarding Whitney. Among them, her one of a kind tone, pitch, compression, runs etc. In addition, the most important thing he said was that Whitney did not just sing impressively, but she believed every word she sang. In other words, not only was her emotive ability exceptional, but she sang in service of what she sings!! That is a very rare quality. She will always be the voice. Thank you Ken for a reaction well done. Oh, and lest I forget, you raised the issue of the tremendous pressure legendary singers like Whitney experienced continuously, to deliver every time they hit the stage, regardless of whether they are not well, tired or just plain bored with doing the same thing repeatedly. The thing that assisted her through all these challenges, is that she believed in what she was doing and enjoyed it to the max!!
    Will always love you Whitney

This is a great performance and it wasn't even her prime anymore. Vocal issues started during 1995. The worser the pain in her private life became and on top of that her extremely demanding career, the more she needed relief with pain numbing substances. Whitney sought help many times, but too much harm was done to overcome.
*Whitney's demise started the day she was sexually abused as a very young child and all the other violations against her that never ended!*
Whitney had many very painful childhood and adult trauma's that pushed her towards numbing substances.😭 People kept violating her till the day she died and many vile scum are still doing it!😡😞
Though Whitney had everything when it comes to talent and beauty, her personal life was a far cry from that. 😭
Whitney's addictions were the result of psychological traumas that started very early in her childhood and the immense pain she carried never ended!
*On the surface it seems like Whitney had it all, but as private person she didn't.* Whitney fought a long and very hard fight against her demons that she couldn't win!
*Substance abuse is an illness in Whitney's case and also millions of people suffering mental issues.*
    - No little girl wants to be a victim of sexual abuse 👉 Whitney was!
    - No child/adult wants to be bullied almost their entire life 👉 Whitney was!
    - No child should live in a neighborhood where riots and shootings threaten their live 👉 Whitney did!
    - No brown person wants to be a victim of racism 👉 Whitney was!
    - No one with mixed genes wants to be a victim of colorism 👉 Whitney was!
    - No one wants to be the child of divorced parents 👉 Whitney was!
    - No woman wants to go through several miscarriages 👉 Whitney did!
    - No one wants to be the victim of mental and physical spousal abuse 👉 Whitney was!
    - No one wants to be betrayed by her own family and friends 👉 Whitney was!
    - No famous person wants to be relentlessly hunted and haunted by the media 👉 Whitney was!
Also never forget that Whitney had a very demanding career that also had a major effect on her mentally, her voice and entire body!
Whitney did 130 concerts for 'The Bodyguard Tour', Award show and other live performances, recording, work, countless interviews, photoshoots, and many other professional work in 1year and 4,5 months. That's just 1 world Tour!
Whitney recorded her very first solo song at the age of 15! She did background vocal for artist like Cissy Houston, Chaka Khan and others starting at the age of 14. Whitney worked as a model since the age of 16.
Conclusion: Too many psychological traumas and an extremely demanding career caused Whitney's downfall and early death.

@tintinesk5 Thankx for your kind words!🤟 Whitney deserves compassion and people mourning her untimely demise.
No one is perfect. Whitney wasn't and neither am I, but I know I'm a good person with big heart for others and Whitney was that way too! I recognize characteristics of me in Whitney like being: compassionate, caring, genuine, sensitive, witty, but also cautious, apprehensive, defensive and indignant when it comes to people who don't have a good personality.
Like many people i've been hurt too. I understand how Whitney must have felt about some of the violations she went through because I experienced them too!
Because of my own personality, experiences and job that involves taking care of people with physical and/or mental issues... I can relate to people like Whitney and how their life ends in tragedy despite of seeking professional help many times. People often judge others and don't have a clue about who and what they're talking about. I've read many disrespectful comments from ignorant people judging Whitney. When hearing/reading those, I get in defensive mode!😉
💞I'll keep supporting and defending Whitney and those who can't do it for themselves (anymore), cause they all deserve it and are all worth it.💞

    • @ninamo7969
      @ninamo7969 4 роки тому +3

@@afrolatino89 Wrong! Robyn said Whitney didn't talk about the abuse to her. That doesn't mean it didn't happen!
When victims find the strength (what takes many years, even decades) to open up about the abuse, they mostly talk to someone who isn't too close to them and the abuser. Like many victims Whitney feared disbelief and aggressive actions towards the abuser if they did believe her.
Whitney knew Robyn loved her deeply and would fight the abuser with all her might.

Ms. Mo I always felt sad about Whitney's background, as well as you. At this time, I will only comment on sexual predators within families. My personal observations have sadly revealed that very attractive children are especially vulnerable to abuse, when pedophiles exist in a family. People don't inundate my box with disparaging remarks. Just let the readers beware.

@@afrolatino89 Robyn was not around when Whitney was a little girl. Moreover, I know silly teenagers sometimes experiment with life issues. If anything did occur between those two, I believe it was part of the teenage phase that Whitney knew was not appealing to her. I am so glad she left Robyn alone.
