You know what's ironic,Maynard the lead singer of Tool now owns several wineries lol. He making that good stuff to,he's been drinking forever..he's not an alcoholic by any means but i don't think this song was about him. Think it was about one of his buddies,in all seriousness I myself am a recovering alcoholic(strictly weed now)and nothing fucked up my life more than that bottle. Withdraws from booze can literally kill a person..you can die from not drinking if you're that bad. Seizures, heart attacks all that. It is not a fun existence at all. This hits home for me and I'm sure many others. The way they depicted it with that clay figure in this vid was spot on..how he was shaking, looked decrepit cause that's how it feels..man
@@austinblake55 Do it sooner than later man. I've only been sober for a few months now, but it took some really scary shit to get me here. Everything the OP said is true and if that doesn't scare you, I was waking up coughing up A LOT of blood. The alcohol had effected my liver so bad that it was causing what's called esophageal varices, nasty stuff. When they pop, if you don't get them taking care of, you can bleed to death. I hope you can do it man, I know how hard it is, but never give up trying.
DUDE, You described it perfectly. I was in that place, drinking a bottle of rhum a night to sleep. Drinking when I got out,. even when I was getting up, would make a drink before I even drink water in the morning. did not think I had a problem since I was functional, going to college and working. And most people are unaware of what you mentioned, it is one of the only drugs, that can kill you in withdrawal, when you are way in. However, since it is socially acceptable you can be thought of as a cool party guy, when you are in fact poisoning yourself to death. I had a reputation when going out, and people would want to party with me. Ironically when I got into weed (did not start until I was like 27), a lot of those people and some close friends said they were dissapointed I was a junkie now, and treated me like a drugadict. When in fact I was one before. I actually had to trick myself, to slow down, and eventually almost completely leave it. I started drinking milk, when I felt like a drink. I was so used to have a glass in my hand, that I kinda felt something was missing if I didn't. The milk fills you up, so you will not be feeling like drinking very soon after one or 2 glasses. After that it was easier to get off of it. Weed helped a lot. Better benefits, lower price to pay.

I remember the first time I ever heard TOOL I was at work when this song came on the radio. At that time I was maybe a month into my now 5 years of sobriety. About 30 seconds in I stopped what I was doing and just stood there amazed at what I was hearing. This song and this band changed my life and changed how I listened to music.
You two are awesome. As a longtime fan I love seeing the next generation really listening to the lyrics and appreciating the genius that is Tool. Keep going, listen to more!!
Tool doesn't often talk in depth about the meaning of their songs, but there has been a lot of indication about this one being about one of their friends who also was a musician and had gotten heavy into drugs. The song has a lot of feeling in it about the conflicts coming from wanting to get clean, but the fear that you wouldn't be able to have that same creative state without the substances. Its really powerful. They are some of the top musicians out there with the complexity of their music, and their lyrics are often pretty heavy dealing with psychology and philosophy.

My first time ever hearing Tool was on the second stage at Lollapalooza ‘93 in Waterloo, NJ. It was the summer between 8th grade and freshman year and they blew my mind. I was able to see them the following December in Philly at the Trocadero. It got so hot that they turned on the sprinklers in the middle of their set. We waited out back at the venue and I got Maynards autograph- but my giant 90’s skater kid jeans were completely frozen by the time we made it to the train to get home. What a night. What a band. Thanks for bringing back some very fond memories.
I had watched you two before and forgot how much I liked your videos. Both of you really grasp the concepts quickly for never having heard Tool before. I always want to correct on lyrics and themes but you always end up getting it. It really is fun to relive songs I grew up with while getting a fresh perspective. Keep it up!

Artist friend of the band who can only create while fucked up. Listener can interpret how they want but most of Tools song have an intentional meaning. Example: Stink Fist is literally about Fisting. No interpretation needed, totally about shoving a fist up someones ass.
You guys are awesome! Breaking down those bars and damn accurate! You go lead the young generations and invite them to listen to music where they can learn a lot from.
This is one of many songs that got me through as I am a recovering addict. I have cried many nights with terrors and sweats. It felt as if my body was filled with acid and was eating itself. Felt as if it was eating my soul and (not to get all christian) I was fighting my demons in my head telling me it would be easier if I killed myself. I admit it sounded very tempting as many things would when you are weak. I fought it, I fought for my life back. All of this while dealing with a broken heart also. It hurts to even think about it because of the intensity and literal physical and mental pain. Yet here I am almost eleven years clean with no relapse in site. I am thankful and glad to see someone enjoying something so close to me. Second hardest thing for me was to admit to myself i had a problem so i listened and sang this song out loud alone the confession "I am just a worthless liar/trust me in and fall as well" I had to realize I was destroying the lives of the people around me. (Which is why I broke up with my girl) so that I wouldn't bring her down with me. (She had never done drugs and I didnt want to expose her to it).
I’ve been a Tool fan since ‘93 ,I’ve seen them live 4 times & by this point they’re the best band on the planet, nobody else even comes close (89-94 era Soundgarden is the only competition I’ve ever heard) once in a lifetime band for sure

Not the only one, seeing it live twice. Amazing experiences
1st comment, tool family welcomes u with open arms, you 2 are DOPE
AYYYE!! Much love‼️🔥 GANG🤟🏽
Every song they sing is this deep. Do me a favor? Do puscifer potions. Same singer.
The lyric is "Jesus, won't you fucking whistle," but this is a censored version for MTV, so the lyric was altered to "Jesus, won't you try and whistle."
Good reaction. I like to think of the claymation puppet thing there when his arm shakes or handshakes that's the DT's you get from alcoholism when you don't have any alcohol in you.
Or other Gvnt meds
I'm 39 years old. I grew up listening to Tool. Watching you both listen to this for the first time is bringing back so many memories of what it felt like to fall in love with this band. Right now, the 17 year old me is raising his fist and loving the living hell out of the both of you.
The beauty of TOOL's art is that it's open to interpretation.
Underrated comment
Yes, TOOL has stated that they will not put their lyrics in their packaging. Its for the listener to take it in.
You two make my favorite reaction videos on UA-cam, you've got open minds for music regardless of genre and your excitement is infectious. It's beyond heartwarming to see you jam to some of my favorite songs after just one exposure.
Tool is my favorite band of all time, I'm so stoked that you found them. Their lyrics always make you think towards your own conclusion. You two draw your own meaning from these songs, and that's the beauty of lyrical music.
Keep going y'all, I love your energy.
Hey guys. Im on my girlfriends account my nsne is Dale Im 51 years old been a metal head all my life. I just wanted to tell yall I love your Chanel. Music is transcendent spanning all generations and races i love your reactions god bless truth told
Also listen to A Perfect Circle.
Deftones "Passenger"
Just get in to deftones!
Definitely Passenger! And My Own Summer and You've Seen The Butcher are great too
True!
Maynard did the chorus on the Deftones Passenger and A perfect Circle is one of his other 2 bands.
Probably my favorite deftones song with a collaboration
Thank you Chris&Rheasia very much.
What happens when I watch a reaction, is that I get a deeper understanding of the song sometimes.
I'm a wet alcoholic, who has had recovery in the past that helped me.
I heard this when I was in HS when it came out more than 20 yrs ago. I immediately loved it. Loved Tool all the time.
Your perspective on this song is new to me. It should not be.
Thank you. ❤❤❤
I love watching people experience tool for the first, second, or whatever time. Learning the lyrics, understanding the complexities. This shit is great.
Love you guys!! Your listening to the best era of music and I love your reactions and actual understanding of what is being sung!! YOU GUYS ROCK🤘🤘
Mannnn when this quarantine thing is over y'all HAVE to go see some of these bands live
I have watched a lot of reactions from different folks and you two are by far my favorite. I love watching young people giving honest reactions to these great older songs in a genre that you are not familiar with. It’s really cool and believe it or not, you guys are bringing people together through music and we need that now. Keep it up and I wish you nothing but future happiness. Too cute the two of you are together.
Such a gorgeous song. Your reactions are priceless, love how yall pause to think about the meaning and pick apart the lyrics. Definitely try Millionare by Queens of the Stone Age if ye haven’t. It’ll kick your ass
One of my favorite bands, along with my favorite song from TOOL! Glad so to see everyone appreciate one of the greatest bands of all time
Do Tool videos with lyrics! I'm telling you even when u think youve got it by listening just trust pull up the lyrics for their stuff... This song is one of the easy ones to get the lyrics down but most of their songs the music / the band drown out his voice a lil and he whispers a lot
I love watching you guys breaking down my favorite songs. Your enthusiasm lifts me up. Love you guys!
Wow Keep watching and stay tuned We love you too welcome to the FAMILY💯🙏🏽C&R GANG!!
C&R Gang, really dug this reaction, been a fan of Tool for quite sometime, thanks for sharing this!!
Nick We Appreciate it Brotha🙏🏾🔥GANG🤟🏽
You two did a great job analyzing the lyrics. That is part of being a Tool fan listening to good rock and figuring out the message.
I love how deeply you get into the lyrics. Tool is the perfect band for y'all for that reason.
Also gotta love that they make these songs full of layers of meaning and metaphor and their logo is just a dick joke.
I watch several reaction channels but y'all are by far my favorite. Y'all take the time to analyze & understand & appreciate the songs. It's awesome. And y'all look like you're having so much fun 🤩
The way they depicted it with that clay figure in this vid was spot on..how he was shaking, looked decrepit cause that's how it feels..man
Good job man. I'm struggling to get off the bottle
@@austinblake55 try Kratom,it's an herb you can buy online. Do your Google on it and see if it will work for you, alcohol is a slow way out the door..hope you do alright
@@panchoperfulcro8708 Im glad I just read this...
You to are adorable, great reaction. Its great to young people appreciate it,this song is awesome.😎
6:45.. The allure of drugs and alcohol is just a worthless liar... that lifestyle seems like a great time and then you begin to partake and you find out later that it's just a sham and a scam.... it's a lie... it's not what you thought it would be 5,10 ,or 15 years in.... when you're addicted and CAN'T stop....
The best, and most correct breakdown of this song. Ever. As someone who been rockin this track since THE DAY...you guys reaction drew a tear from my eye. Bravo
Sound a lot lot lot better with headphones :)
This is by far the best reaction channel PERIOD the way you both are able to break things down ( while still feeling the music ) is amazing.
"The Pot", "46 and 2", "
2 of my favorites by them!
love watching you all evolve on learning music outside your comfort zone...your getting better at breaking down lyrics...kudos and much love!
Pretty sure some of the lyrics are from the perspective of alcohol, like "I will only complicate you, trust in me and fall as well".
U should react to Aenema, H, Eulogy, Stinkfist and Fear Inoculum
You two are awesome. As a longtime fan I love seeing the next generation really listening to the lyrics and appreciating the genius that is Tool. Keep going, listen to more!!
React to Parabol/Parabola next!!!
C&R GANG!! LET'S GOOO! ROAD TO 100K 🔥🔥🔥 WAGE WAR - LOW or WHO I AM 💯💯💯
Nice reaction you two.
I loved the revelation part the most.
The live version with the lead singer in that pink one'sie is powerful also.
Cheers
Check out some Type O Negatives "Love you to Death". Think you would like it.
Best review I've ever seen for this song ! I'm a recovering addict from all drugs and this song touches my heart and soul. Thanks so much. One love y'all,♥️🎵💜🎶🌍✌️☯️💯💯💯🖤♠️
Ya'll together are adorable AF fam! Keep up the love!
Y’all be the only ones that actually broke it down correctly Thats what’s up
I had watched you two before and forgot how much I liked your videos. Both of you really grasp the concepts quickly for never having heard Tool before. I always want to correct on lyrics and themes but you always end up getting it. It really is fun to relive songs I grew up with while getting a fresh perspective. Keep it up!
TOOL!! hell yeah...😊😊 Let's hear some System of a Down ''Chop Suey!''
Great call. They’d love that.
Been watching these all nite & yall are the best reactors/reviewers. My son brought the Aenima dvd home when he was about 13. He's 39 now and I still have the dvd. It's one of my all time favorites. Is so cool to see younger people listen to Tool. Anyway, watched lots of these and appreciate your take on it
He does say "won't you whistle." That section is talking about a man calling out for God to give him a tangible sign and not just words from the Bible which was written long ago. Something to help with his addiction.
I'm ecstatic that you guys are reacting to more Tool , means a lot to those of us who are in recovery! I'd love to see you react to this song Live(Pro Shot) Remastered version. ✌💜🎶
City of Angels - The Distillers
Roots Radicals - Rancid
Down With the Sickness - Disturbed
More Human Than Human - White Zombie
We Will Rise - Arch Enemy
I am a revenant by the distillers instead :)

Absolutely amazing reaction. I echo the sentiments of other commenters that it is so refreshing to see reactions that analyze and take the time to engage with the music. Love your channel and your content!
Tool is amazing! Request: Qveen Herby Sleepwalker and Erykah Badu Apple Tree Live @ the Jazz Cafe.
Just wanted to say I enjoy y’all videos and listening to listening good music that I grew up I’m 30 and y’all know y’all’s music mad respect
Please do Fake Shark - Cheap Thrills!
Oh, I second that. They would love that song.
OMG.I love your honest reaction to the first time hearing TOOL songs. It really takes me back to the first time I did. You guys are awesome. It really takes me back to that time of discovery in my life.
Lmao nobody knows what tthe lyrics for this song mean. Thats the whole point though
Literally everyone will tell you something different so u can ignore ppl who say they know for sure :) The song is called Sober though so kind self explaining, but people go way to deep on the meaning.
Artist friend of the band who can only create while fucked up. Listener can interpret how they want but most of Tools song have an intentional meaning. Example: Stink Fist is literally about Fisting. No interpretation needed, totally about shoving a fist up someones ass.
I had more fun watching you two put it all together than I had trying to figure it out myself back when this was released. Love it.
Tool is only second to Pink Floyd,
have fun diving into their discography.
Shout out from Israel 🇮🇱 ☮️
And Karnivool is third 👌😳👍😎🎶
You guys are awesome! Breaking down those bars and damn accurate! You go lead the young generations and invite them to listen to music where they can learn a lot from.
"Jesus blows his f***ing whistle."
It’s really cool being able to experience these songs for the first time again
This song is what made me discover Tool. I've never looked back (except to listen to this song again and again)
You guys are making songs I've been listening to for years fun all over again!!!
Always, always, always have the lyrics on ANY new reaction. This will allow you to understand each reaction you do😊
I love seeing those moments of when the lyrics just hits you.......
