Yall are missing the point - there are so few combos he loses to here that rampages move should practically NEVER be a bluff. That fact alone makes this a rough spot for KK. Think about it, a bare queen never raises here - same for hands like JJ or TT, so now KK is either really good or stone dead vs this shove. Rampage could certainly play QQ or AA this way. You barely got away with a couple of the bluffs - against both the 10s and Ks. I get the impression you feel the need to try it routinely here too. @@noaod agreed. He's not the only one though. A lot of these vloggers aren't very good at the game. They just have entertaining channels and everyone sees that as actually being good at the game. Just my opinion on it all. I do enjoy his videos though
Good analogy. I love the OG players but a lot of them just don't play cash well. Hellmuth and Negreanu come to mind for that. Not that it's an insult, I suck at cash too and feel more at home in tournament settings and I'd never have the courage to do what Rampage did in this video. I feel that Rampage has actually had much more success at tournaments though from watching him the last year and a bit and maybe stick with what you're good at, but I suppose at the same time you can never get better at something if you don't try against the best, so I respect him for going against Garrett too.
I think you played well or fine in some of the featured hands. Here are the hands in which, in my opinion, you made mistakes, sometimes big ones: 1. QTo. If you are going to 3-bet as a bluff preflop, you NEED to take the lead post-flop and BET (either with a value hand or as a bluff), especially when you flop top pair!! If you were planning to play this hand passively post-flop, don’t 3-bet preflop! It was entirely your fault that you lost a big pot in this hand! (You made a similar mistake on the first night in the last video with AJs, where you 4-bet preflop but played passively and check-called post-flop, allowing the villain to suck out and win a sizable pot.) 2. ATs. Check back the turn to let Eli catch up or induce a bluff on the river. Betting the turn is too strong. 3. AQ. You already noted that you got too sticky and played this hand pretty poorly. You lost way too much unnecessarily. 4. A8s vs KK. You should have folded on the turn, as you noted. Your bluff on the river was terrible and suicidal and should not have worked! You got extremely lucky that your opponent was a weak player who gave you too much respect. 5. 54s vs T9s. From a theory standpoint, you didn’t play the hand that poorly, except probably the flop bet (you should check there with almost no equity). HOWEVER, practically and from an “exploitative play” standpoint, your play was horrible. First, you DO NOT have the necessary bankroll to be able to pull off this bluff and be okay financially if the bluff fails, especially after your big loss on night 1! Second, Garrett had just witnessed your big bluff with A8s against Nik, and he is much more inclined now to call you down light (and this time, he actually had a great hand) OR to trap with a good hand and let you blast off (which is exactly what happened). I hope you learned some very expensive and good lessons from these two nights at Hustler! Again, PLEASE GET A GOOD POKER COACH NOW, especially if you wish to return to these high-stakes games in the future. Although you have improved greatly as a cash game player in the last year, you still have some surprising holes in your fundamental understanding of the game. A good coach can plug these leaks in a short time. If nothing else, ask Mariano and Wolfgang for some free coaching - they are both better players than you at the moment, especially Mariano.
This is such a good comment. He is the biggest fish at any high stakes table he sits down at because he feels the need to think about ranges and bluffs exclusively and ignore his actual cards. Financial suicide for him to keep donking these stakes. I would expect better play in this game from a tight 1/2 player.

Game Selection is the most important skill in poker. It is more important than learning the hand rankings... lol. Tough break Rampage! Better luck in the future.
@@philliesphanatic6020 Honestly game selection reigns supreme over everything in modern poker (after reaching a certain level of strategic acumen), someone with mediocre BRM practice in the best games is going to fare a lot better than someone who is incredibly responsible playing in tough/nitty/OMC games. Gotten to the point where there are games in my area that I feel comfortable sitting with a quarter of my roll, and then others where I’m not really interested in buying in even if I can 50+ times. Online is basically dead unless the flood gates open again. Profiting in poker since like 2012 has basically been all edge seeking, the community on average has progressed to where variance and rake eats you unless you hone in on game selection or are absolutely elite. People often forget that challenging yourself in poker is in fact bad.

It's always funny that you mention how a card hits your range while dismissing others range. Feel fortunate that guy folded his kings for no reason. Too many checks and bluffs and the pros are seeing through your card play.
If he is not hitting his miracle cards to bail him out on the turn of the river ..this the results of every session he plays he spazzes out n runs out of patience n attamps his idiotic bluffs ...

It’s too hard to play the Variance when your whole Bankroll is on the Table. That Game is too high for your Bankroll to play. Even if you won all the Games that you played at that Limit it’s not sustainable because the Variance will get you later. Basic Bankroll management says to play 5% of your Bankroll. And as your Bankroll goes up then you can go up accordingly. Yes, taking the shot is fun. You took a shot Last Year and lost around 20k of your Bankroll. But this is another level. You have to protect your winnings. And pick your spots well. Be patient, because who’s to say you’re going to win Big Tournaments every Year. There’s variance there also. And you need to separate your Tournament Winnings and not use it in your cash Games. Because now it’s showing you have a leak in your Cash Games. Because you’re losing your Tourney money in Cash. And you’ve only won a small amount in Cash Games. Before you played these Nose Bleed levels. You can hang in big Games. But I don’t recommend venturing to it unless you’re properly bankrolled. Losing 100k means you have to have 2 Million that you accumulated in Cash Games. Numbers just doesn’t support it. Building up a 2 Million Bankroll should be your Goal now in Cash Games. And by the Time you get there. You can run circles against these Pros. Because you’ll accumulate a wealth of knowledge by the Time you get there. You’re good now and can hang with them. Just imagine how good you’ll be by the Time your Bankroll is built up to their level. You’ll be 10 Times better than them. So let’s work up to their level patiently. And get some experience along the way. This one is a good experience. It’s a good teaching moment. But you’ll look more comfortable in there when you have 2 Million you’ve accumulated through the Year’s. Don’t need to rush it. It will all come naturally...
Tough break Ethan. To be fair, Garrett is just an absolute beast of a player. @Dayve Stewart actually board was J25”6”. 1) David is extremely tight, nitty. 2) David was playing out of his depth, he doesn’t have the bankroll to hang. 3) happened not too long after Ben stacked Tiger? Think Tiger had big ace(top pair w nut flush draw)? flop was KQT and Ben 3-bet All In Tiger immediately after flop w AJ for Broadway. And so David was sitting immediately to Ben’s right when this happened. This was prolly on his mind thought Ben holding 34 suited lol. But yeah I’m not folding there, if he was so unsure than run it 2x, he still has redraw even if Ben has straight.
Ethan your punts are so epic. I love the Vlog and I hope you can keep it up but the unhinged aggression that works wonders for you at low and mid stakes are going to get you in a lot of trouble in a big boy game.

@@georgeseemon9559 He's right. If Rampage sees fit to post his sessions on YT he deserves constructive criticism and some hard truths. Pretending he played well helps no one. He has said himself the financial impact of this loss was massive to him.
@Adrian89 wouldn’t say he’s out of his depth. His style of play is very aggressive, bluffs a lot and bluffers tend to think others bluff as much too. Sorta like Antonio, Jen Tilly they see weakness when ppl check/call and continue to bet under strategy that it’s very difficult to get good hands(straight, flush, boat) so when cards fill out those hands, he bluffs repping those hands. His mistake was getting involved w Garrett, cuz he doesn’t get involved in BIG pot w hand that doesn’t have large equity vs the other players he was able to bluff off cuz their hands didn’t have as much equity. And also, Garrett checking doesn’t mean weakness like other players but is strength/trapping.
I’m gonna go against the grain here and say this: to hop in and play these stakes was honestly really stupid, you’re playing for a big portion of your net worth and against the best cash game player in the world (who is on a heater and at the top on his game). So yea this should have been easily avoided…
Agree. Even though we don't know his actual net worth, it's hard to imagine that he is adequately rolled for these stakes. Even the best player in the world playing perfectly is going to take some huge losses at this level, just through the natural variance of poker, coolers, etc. And there are always going to be the people for whom even these stakes mean nothing (trust funds, business owners, etc) who come to gamble, and you're going to occasionally lose big pots to them, even when you get it in good.

Crazy play with those stakes! I'll be in Vegas in May playing much lower stakes lol. Impressive to see the huge stakes play though Unbelievable Bluff btw!!!
Those are "nosebleed stakes" where I live. I couldn't scrape together a real small percentage of what you bought in for, so losing half of that would be painful. I think the "Solve for Why" people might have a better breakdown of how big your losses are, you better hope you get major wins in tourneys or REAL huge series of winning sessions to come back from a nearly 100 grand loss. Now I think I would get worried if I were you, you're going to need to play smart and win, because one major six figure bath after another would be painful to endure, and you might find yourself hocking those you love if it keeps up. The punting streams might have been good at lower stakes, but they get more painful at higher ones. To borrow from Weird Al's "I can't Watch This" from his "Off the Deep End" album, "That's as funny as a kick in the crotch/and that's another reason why I can't watch"...

You had the balls to play in these games so respect. Your self awareness of your table image and how others perceive you along with general gameflow bit you on that last bluff, If you noticed Garett was eyeing you like a hawk, you just didn’t sell it and there was lot of perceived weakness in your actions. Did you feel Garett was strong there? Also you shouldn’t have shown your A8 bluff, because Garett immediately knew you were capable of making big bets, he was also watching how you behaved when making that bluff. Game flow and table image is important and I completely understand man it’s a nosebleed high stakes live game on livestream, which definitely has a lot of buzz so perhaps you weren’t as adjusted to the game-Sometimes focusing on the hand and range balancing is not as important when taking shots, It’sok to play ABC in these ssessions since you are playing to profit and playing above your means, you are ok to give up on boards because profiting is more important than focusing on balancing your bluffs and value in these spots that is something you should do if you’re playing in these games more often and have the bankroll to do it, because range balancing is not urgent in the short run your better off more profitable if you’re perceived as a nit when taking shots, and then coming back to this game when comfortably rolled is when you can open up your game. Props for putting yourself out there though Like my feedback may have merit to you but again massive props for getting up thereto play at the hustler at the nosebleed. No one can tell you anything if they themselves haven’t gone up and played at this main stage, my feedback is with the deepest respect for what you are doing man. Good luck and 1 love

Kudos to you sir for having the balls to play with these monsters…but I think I can say with 100% certainty, if you played 100 times against a player like Garrett you would more than likely lose 100 times. Definitely out classed from a poker player stand point but big ups and major balls for even sitting at the same table and playing those kind of stakes with some of those guys 👍👍
He wouldn't lose close to 100% of the time, due to the luck element. I'd say your average 1/2 player would win at least 20% of the time, as long as they weren't playing scared.

Ethan I really hope you have a rich asian background because if not and you continue to play these stakes you're going to be vloging back at $1 $3 lmao
Hey. I am a relatively amateur poker player playing at low stakes. I was wondering if @rampage you had any tips for bankroll management. Also how did you manage your bankroll when you first started.
You should have started playing a lot tighter after revealing your suicidal bluff against the other player. The moment Garrett saw that, he not only knew that you could be bluffing, but that you were willing to bluff very large pots. He expected that you were likely to bluff, or be splitting the pot, very very unlikely that you had the Full House in that spot, and equally unlikely that you had Q 9 for top straight. If you had gone all in at that point, he would have almost instantly called. Your table appearance was heavily bluff-y, and there were only a few other hands that really beat him. Playing extremely tight, and showcasing only very strong hands after that earlier bluff could easily have made the difference if you had gone all in on the flop, or even the 7.
I don't hate the bluff on the last hand. Garret doesn't know for sure that Rampage didn't miracle river a boat. I think the bigger issue is playing appropriate stakes for your long-term bankroll/net worth so you can make those plays.
Been watching since the (your) beginning! Great job on handling the stakes!! I'm straight to the point, that wasn't a punt with AK, you just ran into it AA. What a great moment to have, in life!!! #winning #rogerthat
I really like the 54s hand. Makes a 3-barrel candidate as it unblocks pretty much every hand it's trying to fold out. Too bad Garrett happened to hold the nut bluff catcher (blocking Q9s, JTs, TT, T8s, and 97s. If he has anything less than that, it's a really tough spot for him. Both players played that hand really well, imo. (Solver seems to prefer larger flop bet, which makes sense if Rampage has Q9s and 97s and G-Man doesn't.)
The 54h hand is a good hand to check behind on turn (in position), because you are very likely to get checked raised and get blown off your equity - and if you make the flush it's very disguised. Even though we cap our range by checking behind, that's okay, we don't always need to rep a big hand. I know in some situations we want to barrel turn when we pick up equity, but I just think we have the wrong hand to do it with considering we have no fold equity on a very wet board. We much rather barrel on a 2h, 3h, 6h turn card with the AhXh or KQh hand. The 7h is a really terrible card for us here, and we don't need to rep a 9, when Garret could easily have sets and is never folding, or have a 9 himself.
Not going to try to bash your game, BUT (a serious but) you should review your game with someone who’s a better player and with more experience from these type of games. Practice your range construction, what type of hands to bluff catch in certain situations. Let your ego aside for a few months and go down in stakes to work on your game and come back as a better player. These games will always be there, trust me!
Ouch brother!!! I love the play and you're such a baller for having the heart and the commitment to follow through! It definitely should favor your range and you should have all the boats. You just got unfortunate to run into one of the few hands that super blocks all the nut hands that you're supposed to have there. Keep at it! Can't wait to see you crush the $50/100 or $100/200 game someday soon for a six figure score!
that hand where you flop the nut spades flush with A10 don't bet the turn when you're so nutted. Checking back would induce a bluff from Eli 90% of the time given how aggressive that guy is. When you check back that turn you certainly show weakness he would put you on one pair type hand like QJ JJ 10-10 or some A high like AK AJ with one spade and barrel pretty much any non-paint or spade card on the river. Betting small there just looks extremely strong bc you just check call flop now lead turn it just cannot be a bluff there. Also, when he checks that turn he certainly have something not air bc he would double barrel air, however, it might not be strong enough to keep betting so he just playing pot control. That information should give you a good idea that he would certainly put money in the pot on the river if you show weakness on the turn.
You definitely have the fortitude and gumption playing ultra aggressive. This is a learning session. One question you may want to ask yourself while you’re being aggressive, should be why are they calling me down. It’s really hard gauging professionals because they know how to shift between aggression and passive play. Keep your head up, and keep playing.

I think it’s losing strategy long term at this level. Bluff, yes, but learn to let stuff go or book a small win only. Good luck my dude.

Only Andy can go toe to toe with Garrett
Good analogy. I love the OG players but a lot of them just don't play cash well. Hellmuth and Negreanu come to mind for that. Not that it's an insult, I suck at cash too and feel more at home in tournament settings and I'd never have the courage to do what Rampage did in this video. I feel that Rampage has actually had much more success at tournaments though from watching him the last year and a bit and maybe stick with what you're good at, but I suppose at the same time you can never get better at something if you don't try against the best, so I respect him for going against Garrett too.
Garret’s and Tiger’s reaction to that bluff on Nik is GOLD. Never seen Tiger smile. 😂
I think you played well or fine in some of the featured hands. Here are the hands in which, in my opinion, you made mistakes, sometimes big ones:
1. (You made a similar mistake on the first night in the last video with AJs, where you 4-bet preflop but played passively and check-called post-flop, allowing the villain to suck out and win a sizable pot.)
That was a perfect analysis 👍🏽
Especially the KK fold/river bluff was so bad and hard to believe.
This is such a good comment. He is the biggest fish at any high stakes table he sits down at because he feels the need to think about ranges and bluffs exclusively and ignore his actual cards. Financial suicide for him to keep donking these stakes. I would expect better play in this game from a tight 1/2 player.

@@alexandermartires1108 the nicest thing anyone could do would be rip his play in these games. He is 100% going broke if he keeps playing them.
@@alexandermartires1108 I LIKE Rampage and his content. In fact, I am a big fan of his channel, and I want him to see him do well! It pains me greatly to see him lose almost $150,000 in two days mostly because he has irresponsible bankroll management and played poorly. THAT is why I wrote a longer comment trying to HELP him. Ethan needs HONEST criticism and constructive feedback, not just fans telling him “nice job” even after big losing sessions in which he made numerous mistakes, in order to improve and stop punting money. And I genuinely believe that is the intent of most people who criticize his play in the comments of this and other videos. They don’t come from a place of insecurity at all. We take the time to comment and criticize because we like or love Ethan and we just want him to do better and see massive success this year (which will not happen if he has another one or two sessions like this!). We criticize because we CARE about him.
What Ethan needs the most right now is a reality check and some “tough love”, not blind praise and encouragement. The latter can actually hurt him greatly!
What are you doing specifically to try to help Ethan do better? Or do you not care at all?
Please do not make assumptions about people simply because their comments are, superficially, negative or critical. Think deeper about their true intent.
Garrett just thinking: “fish fish fish fish”
sometimes it's fine to give up a hand instead of trying to bluff everytime
your opponents probably watch the vlogs as well and would bluff catch against you more often than they usually do against other opponents.
That's a great point!
Game Selection is the most important skill in poker. It is more important than learning the hand rankings... lol. Tough break Rampage! Better luck in the future.
And bankroll management
This was good game selection, just poor bankroll management. He’s a winning player in this lineup, most half decent players are.
Outside of Garret, game was soft.
Idk how he can ever fold that river that’s hilarious 😂😂😂 rampage ur the goat this was a tough session for hit but u took it like a champ your time will come
Garret at the top of his range their with 910. He blocks boats and has the straight. Never folding even if he shoves all in.

“I’m happy I went for the bluff”
You ain’t gotta lie to yourself man
So true! It's not like he was in a tournament play and had to defend against raising big blinds. He could have just folded preflop with 5 high and saved himself, what? 60k????
He can’t help but bluff. It’s an addiction. And his opponents know it by now
Bro nothing but respect for this session. The balls to try and bluff Garrett is crazy lol. It was a tough beat but huge props for sitting down at a table like this. And remember, the comeback is always greater than the setback! Keep your head up! Better days are coming
Dude, that bluff was legendary... you got nuts, sir. Not THE nuts, just nuts
Garrett sitting there laughing inside godam rockies tryna bluff me. 😆
Poor Garrett looked like he felt guilty taking that last one.
He say you coming. Now you're easy to read. Your chest was pounding usually a worry
Tough break Ethan. To be fair, Garrett is just an absolute beast of a player. I'd easily say he is the best cash game player today or at least he's the best player to come up the ranks in the last few years. Can't say anything bad about him. I've never seen him misplay a hand. I admire that you went into the same game as him, an expensive poker lesson but maybe a needed one to get that "I'm only human" feeling back and constantly get better. Respect bro. Keep it up.
In a game where someone folds KK on a Q222x board I have to say, maybe going big baller with Garrett wasn't optimal 😄
And David folding 22 on a J258 board lol
Garrett is a king at the table no doubt.
And commentator saying it's a bluff catcher? Wtf are these morons thinking? Only things he doesn't beat are AA, QQ and a quad. Mind blown.
Rampage has graduated to punting Teslas!
Ethan your punts are so epic. I love the Vlog and I hope you can keep it up but the unhinged aggression that works wonders for you at low and mid stakes are going to get you in a lot of trouble in a big boy game.
That is SO true dude. Rampage got involved in so many hands he had no business getting involved in.

David was more than out of his depth. That guy literally folded bottom set on a dry board after tanking for 5 mins (he used all his time chips) what a moron
Disagree. This does wonders for his overall table image in the present. His aggression and style will definitely start to pay off over time.
I must say , this was one of you’re most heart pumping vids for me, great content

What intensity!! Almost a 100k punt.
Damn I’m sure I would have been looking for the nearest bridge on the way home after that play.
Bankroll management? Flying to close to the Sun and your wings melted.
And there are always going to be the people for whom even these stakes mean nothing (trust funds, business owners, etc) who come to gamble, and you're going to occasionally lose big pots to them, even when you get it in good.
a lifetime fan...of all the content creators, your play is definitely the most entertaining....congratulations on all of your endeavors!

Agression work one time, but not always, player thinks you buff too much, i really hope you can control yourself 😉

Hey. I am a relatively amateur poker player playing at low stakes. I was wondering if @rampage you had any tips for bankroll management. Also how did you manage your bankroll when you first started.
I saw this on live stream and was sooooo freaking happy to see Nik fold the KK... That was awesome. Nice job, bro.
dude i was SWEATING
Rampage will be playing $1/$3 NL soon enough folks...

Thursday Lunch content. Let’s go
The 54h hand is a good hand to check behind on turn (in position), because you are very likely to get checked raised and get blown off your equity - and if you make the flush it's very disguised.
Your face makes me laugh when Nik grabs your shoulders
Fantastic idea buying in so deep sitting OOP of Garret. Kudos to you 👍🏻👍🏻
Hard to get into trouble with 54♥️ if you fold it.

These games will always be there, trust me!
i promise garrett felt bad about that last hand his face is "why'd u go do that" lol
That bluff was freaking awesome!!
Bro what happened to your fold button
Do you feel like you learned anything about the high stakes game and playing with garret?
props for showin the bluff on thr boat that was a crazy hand!
that hand where you flop the nut spades flush with A10 don't bet the turn when you're so nutted.
The Q10 hand oof
That was a easy call for Garrett. He just saw you bluff.
