one of the better videos i have seen this year on all youtube. i'm getting in to woodwork and its so nice to see the more natural side of wood work. tree to item. so nice
Impeccable editing and a super cool project. The fact that you build that tensioner just shows how dedicated you are to this! Keep it up, been loving all the content and watching this channel take off.
Y’all the smell of fresh cut cedar is delightful, fam. Such a creative use of materials for this project. I took a cycling class in college. There were two of us with mountain bikes. On rainy days we all had to do rollers inside a gym. The sound of mountain bike tires on rollers i swear is louder than those cedar rollers. ‘good times.
Nothing but absolute respect! Simple idea, impeccably executed (MTB driven lathe...stroke of genius!), and a beautifully edited video...cannot wait for more inspiring videos like this! (Y)
This is sooo cool. Usually have no interest in riding indoors on a trainer, rollers or stationary bike. I live in Alaska and ride down to 0 deg F all winter. BUT, I would do this just cuz its so cool.
For someone who's never ridden or seen rollers before, you sure got the hang of them really fast. I know roadies who took upwards to 2 weeks to learn to get on, let alone ride hand-carved wooden logs! Sweet rig!
Man I just discovered your channel by reading T&M magazine and...you rock! The biking powered lathe is a highlight. Great song by the way! Keep up the good work!!
This video is amazing. I'm a mountain biker but I live in the north east so all winter long, I spend about 5 hours a week on my rollers. On a mountain bike. I love this homemade wooden roller! Although I think that long term, you're going to have a few issues: If possible, I would re-make the rollers themselves. Try to use a lather or a homemade lathe like you did to make them much smoother. You're on an MTB which is good, it's going to absorb a lot of vibration and keep the wheels glued. But even so, , that vibration is going to get old fast. And it will help shake the thing apart. Air up your tires!! I run maxxis hookworms at no less than 40 PSI. I'm not sure of the exact PSI but you want a lot firmer. When you ride low pressure, among the many problems is that the roller starts to separate tire layers and ruin the tire. I think a better belt solution would work better. If you could find something like an automotive fan belt, and then if you could work in a tensioner that actually has a spring, that might work really well. The problem with your system is theres no real tension. Once the strap stretched even a little bit, it will start sliding. You can keep manually adjusting tension but it won't be ideal. Plus I think that strap will wear out pretty quickly compared to something like a rubber fan belt. Otherwise I love this thing! Especially the width! When I was new to rollers, one of the big problems I had was how narrow they are. I'm fine now but years ago, I would have loved a wider setup. Once my plastic drums wear out, I'm going to see if I can build my own wooden ones :D
Usually i have a short attention span for videos but everything from the editing to the music and content was seamless. I tip my hat to you good sir, bravo!
Dude. You're brave. Dedicated & very inteligent, I'm really impressed, seen 2 or 3 videos from you, and I'm baffled by your resourcefulness. Keep it up.
Yes good video! I like it when you don't talk and just do. It's so much better. Makes us think what ur gonna do next, like a surprise. Do more videos like this, I'm liking the style.
Woww.. Woww.. Gran bella idea x dare mountain bike in casa... qua in ITALIA siamo in quarantena x il corona Virus!!!... Un Grande lavoro.. complimenti!!!... Ciiaaaooo
My friends have one of these and I’ve figured out that it’s much easier to ride with a high seat and when you stare at something straight in front of you🤘🏻
The 715 dislikes are the guys who did NOT get a tingle in their spines when the bike-powered lathe started. That is one of my favorite UA-cam moments ever. I used to watch the Woodwright's Shop on PBS, and Roy Underhill would have loved that.
I've been watching your videos the last 6 months normally while waiting for the next of Seth's, however if you come up with videos similar to this I think I will be tuning in a lot more!
Backwards, I know, watched the lathe video first, but you're killing it man, awesome, awesome stuff, way to help keep people at home entertained and enthused. Only thing is though, that thing is noisy AF :-D LOL
I love how the wood is cooked perfectly to medium rare.
So cursed
Gordon Ramsey would approve
You had me from start to finish.
DUDE! Thank you. That's like the ultimate compliment

The FLINTSTONE Version of a bike roller. Nice idea ...
Man...I'm a cabinet maker by trade, and seeing a MTB powered lathe in a trail building video channel has just got me way too excited! Love it!!
one of the better videos i have seen this year on all youtube. i'm getting in to woodwork and its so nice to see the more natural side of wood work. tree to item. so nice
Your videos are so good and you are so creative.
Your videos only get better man, we are so fortunate to have you to inspire us - much love from Texas !

I was like how did he find music that sounds so much himself ! So many talents !
He's singing the song
@@JMcGwyer yep
At first: “This guy needs a lathe” _____ Later: “Never mind”
Hahaha. It works!
If he would have turned the whole log, he would have smooth rollers
@@MikeBarbarossa he did it on purpose to for more mountain bike feel and not road bike

Ingenuity, editing, soundtrack, original content, and over all rad video
I don't even mountain bike but I love watching your builds and ingenuity. Music is chill too.
Good song choice 👌👌
Love your videos. Real, unpretentious, and no filler VO BS. Great stuff man!
Heck of a complement! Thank you!
Genau so muss ein richtig gutes Video aussehen ! Geile Auflösung, Geile Musik, Geiler Schnitt, Geile Arbeit...... Absolut Sehenswert !

I have built some jumps and things at my house, when I’m older I want to live like you man so cool
The world need more people like you...
The enthusiasm the two of you had made me smile. Good job.
Dude!!! Awesome project and even cooler original soundtrack! Really digging your tunes bro 🤘
Thanks, Bobo!! Means a lot coming from another music man!
I like this chilled-out vibe!
Man I just discovered your channel by reading T&M magazine and...you rock!
The biking powered lathe is a highlight.
Great song by the way!
Keep up the good work!!
I can imagine this being way better because the rough-ness of the wood would make it feel like an actual trail
It honestly does! haha But it could do with a little less bumpiness. Might be more like riding down a washboard at the moment.
@@BackyardTrailBuilds You could "Bike Lathe" it a little smoother without taking out all of the bumpiness.
Mean woodworking skills and creativity! Loved it
I'm sincerely impressed. lots of effort in this build.
I have to say, that is quite ingenious...bravo, well done!!
I was just vibing to the song and then you tell me it's your music!! Will definitely be following you on Spotify. This was a really cool video, Seth!
Indoor bikers: yes. Yes! YES!!
Downstairs neighbors: no. No! NO!!

Brilliant work! I like the theme “if it can be store bought, it can be built”! You even introduced a new product concept 😂😂😂music’s great!
This is so awesome man... Bike powered lathe... next level... LOL
What a great video and very cool build... but OMG when you used the bike as a lathe that was Beeping AWSOME...
Brilliant. You must have confidence to ride the rollers (log rollers at that!) for the first time near a woodstove.
I was captivated from start to finish! Very cool!
Dude. You're brave. Dedicated & very inteligent, I'm really impressed, seen 2 or 3 videos from you, and I'm baffled by your resourcefulness. Keep it up.
Wow. Thank you so much! That's a very kind thing to say!
okay mad respect.. I love you guys for showing this off.. helps us out a lot
Dang you built that like a pro! The music, editing, and being able to make it work on your first few attempts is epic. Nicely done man.
You're living the dream dude. Sick build, and sick channel.
Man you never disappoint! This was some killer content and done with your style even better. So sick!!!
That was so freaking cool!!! That lathe- brilliant!! I so want to make one!
Not sure if I would ever want to build one but you are definitely clever for building one the way you did.
I saw the bike lathe coming. Excellent!

I approve! This I thinks is your best video yet, at least my favorite.
