The 16GB of VRam would also be of benefit to anyone who connects this laptop to an external monitor to game at 4k, because at that resolution you can quickly fill up 8GB if you max out the settings, in some games. Not always a big deal, but something to note if someone is going to use it for life, production and 4k gaming.
This review is amazing. Honestly, its kinda nice to see areal world test vs the reviews others do that are written and tested in a studio environment. I am looking to buy a new laptop for college and this is one of 2 contenders for me (the other contender is the Blade 15 because my last blade was amazing and i only got rid of it because I didn’t need it at the time and could use money). I think i am going to get a blade 15 to get the RTX 3080 16GB since i am a game design major at your suggestion in the video, but I am still not sure. I also hope you enjoyed your trip out to Louisville. I am from the area and love it here.
I am a game and media undergraduate and have a 5 year old msi with a i7 and 1050 to and works more than fine for everything from Maya to unreal. Now, you wouldn't be expected to make extremely heavy games anyway but if you would do that it would always be on a desktop.
I'm not even focusing on the review. My attention is towards the vlog style video. It's fascinating That airplane charging trivia was very nice to know haha
Nice review. Always enjoyed these real-world tests with a little story/trip showing cool new places and giving us good education about new products. Keep up the good work. Maybe for this video, it would be nice if where clearer what IO was available on the 14inch model instead of what you get when you pay more for the 15.
This what I’ve been searching the Internet for, thankfully you put in the effort and information to make it worthwhile watching the whole vid. Vid style is supercool but I’d suggest make those visits like a montage and short.

This is the first time viewing your channel. First off, this is by far the best review format I have seen for a laptop. Anyone can rattle off specs. It's so hard to quantify living with a product. I am in the market for a new laptop and can't decide between the Razer 14 or Asus G15. I might be sold on the Razer now. Great job bud. Thank you.
165hz requires dedicated gpu use. If you were on intel it would save battery using Optimus. Without that you are always using the 3080 so it makes sense the 60 or 165hz won’t make a difference in your test scenario. Same would happen if you played a game on battery at 60 but didn’t have sync on.

what exactly is the advantage of soldering ram apart from ripping people off. i dont get it. every laptop now has a solder ram, and you have to pay extra if u want more soldered ram
The regular blade 15 and 17 have upgradeable ram. The 14 and 13 inch (stealth) models are soldered because it saves space. Any type of upgradeability will make a laptop thicker because that section needs to be walled off/separated from the rest of the hardware.

@@4-0-Kit looks good at first, but long term, that's a different story. I have had to razer blade 15 advanced 2070 max q late 2019 model, and about 1 and a half years later, the battery has expanded and thermals have been getting worse and worse. I am not the only person who has also had this issue too. If you check the razer reddit many other people with this laptop have also had this issue. Long story short, the longevity of the razer blade is something to worry about, I'm not sure if it will be the same on the razer blade 14 as it was with the 15, but just keep longterm issues in mind when purchasing a razer blade.

The hard wired memory is the deal breaker for me. I don't mind the memory being on the board as long as I can add at least one chip. When you spend that much for a laptop I'd rather not be limited for upgrades, it's why I won't own a Mac.
Razer Blade users, I am new to this laptops and there is one thing that I want to know. Is there a fan noise in daily routines like web surfing or office work, I am a student and want to play at home ant keep a silent laptop in the university and do my typing without disturbing 😳
5:00 How does that non OLED IPS look on the 14 inch in real life? On video the OLED looks way nicer, both the screen itself and the bordering. For this reason as a content creator I was surprised you decided to switch to this (yes, I get it half a pound or whatever...but still). The thing that kills me the most about the 14 inch though is no option for more than 16GB.

Always a solid real world review. I ended up getting the early 2020 4K stealth 13” and I have put Ubuntu on there with its own challenges but I am not too happy with the battery in both windows or Linux. It’s not going to be any good on a 12 hour flight without power in the seat!
The 2021 model doesn’t have a MUX switch that’s why. It relies on the DGPU. The 2022 models do have a MUX Switch which switches between the 3070Ti and the internal powersaving GPU
bit late, but you can circumvent this by creating a powerplan that on battery will switch to igpu instead of the dedicated gpu, i do this and get up to 8 hours of battery life on a blade 14. @@DaniiG2251
I know it is not an AMD processor but I own the 2021 11900H 3080 Blade Advanced and I noticed my performance is horrible on battery power. I see on Synapse that you can only use Balanced profile on battery and I even tried settings Windows to High Performance mode but the performance is garbage without a power cord. I know that the chips use less watts on battery but I think Razer set a ridiculously low tdp on their laptops when running on battery power. Does anyone have any advice for me on how to improve performance on battery?
When editing how is the heat? 🤔 does it get really hot? And would you take this over the 13inch MacBook M1 🤔 because I’m just trying to find a laptop to do tethering for photoshoots and really just light editing on DaVinci resolve.

Love the review style. You mentioned that Razer worked and studied airplane outlets to not blow the fuse on an airplane. Do you have any more details? Does it just pull the amount of power it needs, ie if my laptop doesn't pull more than ~65 watts during use, the OEM charger won't blow the fuse? Or is it just magical? Curious because it'd be nice to game at full power on a plane.
I think the chargers always pulls the amount of power that your computer uses. I imagine that Razer controls or suppresses the initial “inrush” current that can blow fuses when you connect your device to outlet. I don’t have deeper knowledge of Razers solution, but inrush current can be a problem in industrial applications.

PWM murders the eyes. Ever wonder why your eyes are always feeling tired or having headaches etc…it’s OLED and LCD that utilize PWM for brightness control.💁

What about using the external GPU? Is it compatible without the thunderbolt? Because you have a lot of power with your 3090, i thought that might be a key point for you. Great video I'm sad i didn't get to see your previous videos when we're upload, but there is some nice thing of watching it like in the old day when you posted 3 or 4 videos a week.
No thunderbolt so no eGPU but honestly the 3090 doesn't do well in the egpu anyway. Something about it being in an egpu makes it not perform as well as it should. Regardless though this has a 3080 in it so it's not really a point to plug into just go from that to a 3090. The egpu is a lot better for netbooks or computers that don't have a powerful GPU.
@@TheUnlockr I'm truly thinking on this laptop, it's too expensive for me the 3080, i might probably aim to the 3070, the size of the screen is kind of an issue because I don't have much space to plug it to a Monitor and I don't move the laptop from it place much, so I would like a 17" model maybe with the option to upgrade RAM and maybe adding one more m.2 drive, but for you, it's amazing that the power is great enough to considering not using the external GPU case. As always, liked and nice Min took a look to the tweet at least

The laptop 3080 is based on the desktop 3070. Hence why they both have 8GB/16GB, depending on the config.

One advice to get rid of finger prints off the laptop, you can get a skin from a certain brand and forget about finger prints and scratches.

@@TheUnlockr I'm truly thinking on this laptop, it's too expensive for me the 3080, i might probably aim to the 3070, the size of the screen is kind of an issue because I don't have much space to plug it to a Monitor and I don't move the laptop from it place much, so I would like a 17" model maybe with the option to upgrade RAM and maybe adding one more m.2 drive, but for you, it's amazing that the power is great enough to considering not using the external GPU case.
