What's your favorite Crowbar album of the last 30 years?
It's got to be odd fellows rest, such a good album.
Depends on the time of year, but Broken Glass might be the one. Odd Fellows Rest is a masterpiece. The Serpent Only Lies goes fucking hard too, highly refined.
I guess what I'm saying is I am now going to be listening to Crowbar for the rest the day.

Crowbar is one of those bands I can't just pick one. Same with High On Fire. One week their self-titled may be my favorite. Then the next week I'll be listening to Lifesblood for the Downtrodden

Peter's band Carnivore and the first Type O record were major influences on Crowbar and the NOLA metal scene in general, along with other young NYHC bands (AF/SOIA). Obedience Through Suffering has major Pete Steele influence.

The Crowbar song "Symbolic Suicide" came from a conversation he had with Pete about how a failed suicide attempt isn't really a failed attempt, but a symbolic suicide where you don't actually die.
@Tim Schmitz I wonder if it went both ways. The opening riff of “everything dies” always reminded me of crowbar.
I describe Crowbar's music as SOUL MUSIC. heavy soul music....
Kirk is up there with Iommi and Dime IMO🤘
Such an underrated and underappreciated band. I've been a fan since 97. Planets Collide is a superb song with one of my favorite riffs ever.
Kirk is a real stand up man, no bull shit, no side show...just a straight up genuine human..

I'd be lying if I didn't say Kirk is one of my biggest influences in metal guitar playing. You can always, ALWAYS, pick out a Kirk Windstein riff.... He has the beard of a god and the riffs of one too.
Talked to Kirk several times at Pats Pub in Metairie LA he is one of the nicest dudes I've ever met.

Its funny the first one was about him not being depressed. I saw them one time on a head full of fungus and remember him looking sooooooo bummed, like he was in pain. Was the funniest shit in the world to me at that moment. Crowbar rules!

Kirk should really remix and remaster Obedience Thru Suffering since he said it's more of a "glorified demo". There's seriously some killer songs on there!
Just revamp and re-record it. Throw the lyrics/vocals in the trash if you have to. The riffs are good.

Kirk is such an amazing musician, a real riff master with absolutely powerful guitar tone. Crowbar are one of most excellent metal bands. My favourite albums are Broken Glass, Sonic Excess in Its Purest Form, Sever the Wicked Hand and Symmetry in Black.

Thanks for this. I wish it was 3 hours longer. Love Kirk so much. Would give anything to be sitting across from the table from the guy, picking his brain about guitars, riffs, and I'd tell him that the riff at 1:37 in "Burn Your World" is one of the greatest things ever created on a guitar. \m/
