The creator of “Hamilton” and the director of “Crazy Rich Asians” invite you to the event of the summer, where the streets are made of music and little dreams become big... “In the Heights.”
Lights up on Washington Heights...The scent of a cafecito caliente hangs in the air just outside of the 181st Street subway stop, where a kaleidoscope of dreams rallies this vibrant and tight-knit community. At the intersection of it all is the likeable, magnetic bodega owner Usnavi (Anthony Ramos), who saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines and sings about a better life.
“In the Heights” fuses Lin-Manuel Miranda’s kinetic music and lyrics with director Jon M. Chu’s lively and authentic eye for storytelling to capture a world very much of its place, but universal in its experience.
“In the Heights” stars Anthony Ramos (“A Star is Born,” Broadway’s “Hamilton”), Corey Hawkins (“Straight Outta Compton,” “BlacKkKlansman”), singer/songwriter Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera (TV’s “Vida”), Olga Merediz (Broadway’s “In the Heights”), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Broadway’s “Rent”), Gregory Diaz IV (Broadway’s “Matilda the Musical”), Stephanie Beatriz (TV’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), Dascha Polanco (TV’s “Orange is the New Black”) and Jimmy Smits (the “Star Wars” films).
Chu is directing the film from a screenplay by Quiara Alegría Hudes; it is based on the musical stage play, with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, book by Quiara Alegría Hudes and concept by Miranda. “In the Heights” is produced by Miranda and Hudes, together with Scott Sanders, Anthony Bregman and Mara Jacobs. David Nicksay and Kevin McCormick served as executive producers.
Behind the camera, Chu is reuniting with his “Crazy Rich Asians” production designer, Nelson Coates, and editor, Myron Kerstein. He is also collaborating with director of photography Alice Brooks (TV’s “The Walking Dead”) and costume designer Mitchell Travers (“Eighth Grade”). The choreography is by Christopher Scott, who previously teamed with Chu on the award-winning “The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers.”
“In the Heights” was filmed in New York, primarily on location in the dynamic community of Washington Heights. Slated for release on June 26, 2020, it will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. - Розваги

Bahahahahaha
I saw this off Broadway years ago. We just stood in line for whatever tickets we could get from the booth in times square. We had no idea what it was but we gave it a shot and it absolutely blew us away. It is, to this day, the best play my wife and I have ever seen. Maybe it was because we were on vacation and the energy of being in New York added to the excitement of the play but it left a lasting impression on us. It became the best part of our trip and the only thing we actually remember from it. It set the standard for us and we judge every play we see against it.
Yes you can!
I can assure you that this musical will not only have you on your feet dancing to the catchy Latin melodies composed by Lin Manuel- Miranda, but will also have you searching up every song created by this musical genius!
The musical In the Heights is a raw yet beautiful story about following your dreams and paving a path for future dreamers. With the many conflicts that arise throughout the musical, it is hard not to relate to the rejection, failure, grief, discrimination and sacrifice Usnavi, Vanessa and Nina faced.
As a Mexican American first generation college student, I can strongly relate to Nina’s fear of disappointing her father as he constantly sacrifices every penny to put her through college. With having to face similar circumstances, Nina, played by Leslie Grace, symbolizes a small glimpse of hope for the long and overwhelming journey that comes with pursuing a higher level education for immigrants and dreamers.
Finally, I would love to give a round of applause for the diversity and depth given to these characters. I especially am proud to see a strong Latinx characters going through hardship, failing and rising up against all odds. Let this musical be a reminder to rise up because si se quede!

I've been seeing people complaining about how boring it is.. Not all films have to be exciting to be amazing, it's telling the story of Uznavi's life. Even the most normal of lives can be an amazing experience.
I think it's more the amount of singing in the movie. I personally did not enjoy it, but it was only because they were singing when they didn't need to sing. The storyline was beautiful, but at times there were points where u didn't really understand it because singing literally took over the whole show. I went to see it in theatres and ended up walking out unfortunately, it wasn't the type of musical i enjoy but nether less totally can see why people enjoyed it, but also totally understand why people didn't.
Well, I watch movies to be entertained. Movies do not have to be a big chore.
@@idkwhatimdoing8929 it's based off of a musical and it is a musical lmaooo
@@destinym4349 Can u read? I never said it wasn't a musical u dim wit. I literally said "it wasn't the type of musical i enjoy" Indicating that it's a musical, just not the type I enjoy. For example, i enjoy things like the greatest showman, walking on sunshine, so on and so fourth, all musicals that don't sing every 5 seconds. Never once 'dissed' the show, i said it had a beautiful story line which it did, but i can see why some didn't enjoy it because it was a very typical old fashioned musical which is the type of things some of gen Z in particular don't really enjoy. Ik it's based off a musical and know it's a musical so don't go pulling words outta my mouth when u clearly can't read.
This movie is garbage and any moron who watched it makes me sick why don't you go to a real lower middle class "neighborhood" this movie glamorizes and see if it's as pretty in person all You Outsiders Trash ignoring the Ugly Truth i live in a Red District and anyone who touches "the Ghetto subject" better know WTF there talking about.

THE BLACKOUT GAVE ME THE CHILLS
I just finished watching, "In The Heights", and I cannot express how wonderful this movie is!!!! After living in NYC, this movie brought back so many memories of struggles, joys, and just the sense of there is no place in the world like NYC. (I have literally been around the world) I love the focus on Brown and Black bodies that are the foundation of NYC. The immigration and Dreamer stories solidify the importance of authentic narratives that are rooted in relatable experiences. I felt a sense of nostalgia, almost a "Do The Right Thing" or "Crooklyn" flashback but with a Latinx emphasis instead of an African-American narrative. Leslie Grace hands down has the best range and vocal performance. This movie is amazing. Thank you!!!
I agree. I live in another state now ever since moving away from New York since my dad was in the army and now I’m debating whether or not I should go back.😂
I’m glad you enjoyed the movie!! Just a FYI- please don’t use Latinx! The latino community rather prefers just using “latino” or, if you really want to be gender neutral, “latine” (although it’s not really common).
Right?💯🤘🏿
There is no place like NYC, true, no other city in the world has out migration as fast as NYC right now.

This hasn’t even come out yet and I’m already emotionally attached to all of them
leslieee watch the musical..
Same here. It’s gonna be amazing
Good. They're all great!
Abuela dies
same
This musical is so underrated, it’s so flippin good.
NightBurst Studios I was literally justtt saying last week that I couldn’t believe they hadn’t turned it into a movie yet! Ugh I can’t wait
Exactly. Hamilton sadly overshadowed it.....
EXACTLY! I love it so much
@@xnovax4189 agree
im glad hamilton came out though because if I didn’t I wouldn’t have found the other musicals like in the heights
Producers : So, who you want for this movie; actors, singers or dancers ??
Lin : Yes;
This movie is like a 2-hour Pepsi commercial.
“Little details that tell the world we’re not invisible”
Yet they still are
Lmao haha 😂
And Allyson, you are not invisible. Why?? Well every time I watch the show COPS, I see plenty of latinos! LOL...Yes, you all are very visible....for all the wrong reasons.
@@popev3887 yo that was uncalled for...
jazzy jay I don’t think so :) after all Latinos are our jails main resident race
Haha 😂
@@mr.tandhiswaytobe8023 , Yes sir! LOL...If I want to see Latinos on the screen, I will turn on the TV show COPS! LOL
“This is going to be an emotional roller coaster”
* cuts to shot that fans will definitely recognize as “Alabanza” *
Me: Welp, I’m gonna be crying again, I guess.
😂

I balled like a baby when I saw the National Tour.
..SHMOZE ?! Lmaoo dat username
Dude this looks crazy good! I can't wait!!!!! Thank you Creators!!!!
Finally got a chance to watch this movie
Ngl the beginning was slow and I wasn’t feeling it but kept watching and glad I did, I ended up loving it and some parts hit hard since they were very much relatable as a Latino myself.
I would give this a solid 8.5/10, anyone wanting to watch a fun musical movie should check it out.
It was so nice to see the struggles and hardships Latinos face in their daily lives/have faced being talked about in a mainstream movie.
Cats: the choreographer of Hamilton
In the heights: the CREATOR of Hamilton.
Are you down talking Andy Blankenbuehler? Hes just as good as Lin, and it makes no difference who's working on what to the quality of the movie.
themodern-majorgeneral
I’m not talking down to him. I’m just saying how it’s funny how both movies reference someone form Hamilton. He’s a great choreographer I bet but he was just put in a bad movie.
@@channingbloom7125 Sorry, I was in a bad mood at the time, but the way you phrased it made me think you were comparing the movies quality because you capitalized CREATOR.
themodern-majorgeneral
Yea man no sweat. My apologies
@@benny569 dope user name btw
This musical is 10 years old and somehow feels fresh.
Leonardo Maranhao isn’t 15 years old?
@@Apersonwithideas yes 15 years old in 2020
Wowwww i know right!!!!
It's even older than that. The original version was in 1999 or 2000, when Lin was a sophomore at Wesleyan.
Leonardo Maranhao Maybe old school but still a thing of beauty
Oh My Goshhhh !!!!! such a gorgeous trailer ... can't wait to watch the flick .
This make me feel so proud of being dominican ✨ I already want to watch this.
Steve Spielberg: I’m creating a remake of west side story.
Lin Manuel Miranda: hold my piragua.
Perfecto.
This just in: Lin Manuel-Miranda is the only one allowed to turn musicals into movies. Everyone else is banned. BANNED!
Cats: what abou-
Me: the cats look ugh someone should’ve banned you from the start
@@hamiltonusnavibeetlejuicec4061 lol
When they're done with this, they should make an adaption of Hamilton
@@elise4020 There's rumors at one point they filmed all of Hamilton with the original cast, but Lin Manuel has the call on if that's released or not, could be a rumor could be real I'd love to see it. Regardless because it's still doing so well they say the movie adaption will be a long time coming if you check the industry news which is a bummer, it's the same for Wicked though which is finally supposed to be getting a movie adaption in 2021.
Kate they did Lin said so in an interview:33 he said it’s locked deep in a safe somewhere
Boy, am I so glad I studied this play for Theater class ❤️ I was in love with this back then, I’m still in love with this now. Looking back, this trailer really made me cry when I saw it in theaters for the first time. Ahhh I can’t wait to see this!
I saw this movie today and I can tell you that it's a masterpiece!! It was sooooo good!!
