This is such a good basic explanation of IFS and I highly appreciate you bring Scripture into it. It demonstrates that God can use counseling as healing. Counseling and God go hand in hand; they are not against each other.
as a therapist I can say IFS is the most effective therapy I have come across.. It is non shaming and respecting and works by collaboration. Win-win. I have seen powerful progress with people I have worked with... and I love the connection to God in us... this therapy has changed me for the better...
I love this information! I started listening to the podcast but switched to the video to see her props!! Makes such a difference to have visuals. I can't wait to see her at the conference! Thanks for all the good content!
Resisting Shame. How about humbling ourselves and living in meekness owning our crap, Crucifying the flesh and going to the foot of the cross? The only thing that unburdens ourselves is asking forgiveness thru Christ. Your version of unburdening ourselves is actually convincing ourselves sinful parts are ok to live with.
There's a lot of good here. There are a few things that I scratch my head at but wonder if it's just a different way of looking at things and one or maybe two I'm not sure quite agree with Scripture but mostly really good stuff. I do wonder, if she's going to use Star Wars props, why she doesn't utilize the built in material that's already there. Use Luke instead of Grogu (aka Baby Yoda), summarize Vader's origin story, and how Luke is trying in his own sometimes flawed way to accept him and bring out the good in him. Draw the existing parallels and the thing does the work for her. I kind of think, though, that the way a gps unit works might be a better illustration of how our past can mess with our connection to God and really send us off in the wrong direction if any one of a few things is blocked, dirty, or otherwise interfered with might be a better illustration. That could be just my own overactive imagination at work, though
Some proponents of the Enneagram attribute it to the Desert Fathers, Kabbalists, Sufi mystics, Pythagoreans, the Chaldeans, or other ancient groups. Claims for an ancient origin, however, have never been substantiated. The earliest mention of the Enneagram is found in the writings of the Russian occultist P. D. Ouspensky, who attributes it to his teacher, the Greek American occultist Georges I. Gurdjieff. Gurdjieff considered the Enneagram a symbol of the cosmos, but made no connection with it to personality types. It was left to another occultist, Óscar Ichazo, to connect the Enneagram to personality. Ichazo claimed to have discovered the personality type meaning of the Enneagram when it was taught to him by the Archangel Metraton while he was high on mescaline.
God sees our core in his image and says it is profoundly good? Where is Christ in this theory? His presence is what gives us access to God. The grace we receive when we believe is what makes us acceptable in him. It is the saviors blood that purifies us to receive grace. Are you teaching a different gospel? Please correct me if I am missing your intent.
If someone can not think to call a sponsor when flooded why would they think of your three letter NKN notice know and need, asking multiple questions. Noticing body awareness... Need a snack?!! What are you trying to do. What makes you think this is better than just saying no?
I am open to IFS but initially seems overly complex. Mankind (unbelievers and believers) are spirit beings created in God’s image. We have a soul made up of our mind, emotions and will housed in our brain. We live in a physical body. If born again my human spirit is perfect in Union with a perfect God the Holy Spirit. It is in my soul where I experience transformation, sanctification and healing from childhood abuse and the resulting injury to my mind, emotions and brain. It is my wounded soul, the lies I believe about God and myself and the associated painful emotions that are in need of transformation. The conflict for me as a believer is the war between my born again spirit and my soul housed in my brain. I am only spiritually mature to the degree that I am emotionally mature.
trauma is the experience from sin, it is not the same thing as sin. Jesus died for the sins of the world that cause trauma...Please do not minimize our rebellion(sin) that mocked Jesus, tortured Jesus, spit in the Creator's face, plucked out His beard, put a crown of thorns on His head, whipped Him until almost dead. It is not a "religious" word. It is the word God uses for our selfish, broken(yes broken) hearts that harm ourselves, others and God. It is the thing that will ultimately separate us from God in an utterly tortuous place called hell unless we turn to the loving, gracious Saviour for the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be born again or he would not enter the kingdom of God. That means he does not have "the Divine" within him. Yes we are made in the image of God but at the Fall we lost fellowship with God and were left with darkness(the hiding of Adam and Eve, the blame shifting and denial of wrongdoing). And when we receive the Lord Jesus He gives us the Holy Spirit to live within us and makes us new creatures. There's so much I'm concerned about with IFS and yet with anything there is some good to it. Fellow Christians please be discerning of this. The Lord is so gracious, kind ,gentle understanding...He is the wonderful counselor and we need Him to counsel us. He has done tremendous healing in me...but with IFS it sounds as if I don't really need Him for every part "is good". Remember satan disguises himself as an ANGELof LIGHT. that is what I think this is. Once again some good stuff here wrapped around deception...
She says “at our core we are good.” I respectfully don’t see how this is biblical. We were created good before the fall! And each one of us has dignity because we are created in God’s image, BUT because of the fall we have original sin. Apart from Christ, nothing in me wants to be good or do good - I’m a sinner. And I don’t have shame because of that, because of what Christ did for me. But he didn’t die for a “part of me” that is sinful or traumatized. He died for the whole of me- which is full of sin. What about David saying how he was surely sinful from birth. It seems as though this system is trying to get rid of shame by breaking up a person into parts. But the reason I don’t have to be ashamed is not because I have so called islands of righteousness in me, I don’t. The reason I don’t have to feel shamed is because of what Christ did for me despite my sinful nature.
Wrong. Original Sin is a doctrine read back into the text. “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” Proverbs 4:23
Where is Jesus in your IFS model. Yes Paul was in distress but his conclusion was who can deliver me, wretched man that I am?! It was Jesus. I think IFS is a good tool to help identify what parts of us were hurt, traumatized, etc. I can accept that managers and firefighters can be seen as good for that time. None of them are bad. I have the use, several times, putting trauma aka sin, sin aka trauma. They inter-relate yes. I agree about moving toward parts, and not hiding them into the “basement”.

Phenomenal. So worth the time to listen.
This episode is really healing and helpful Thank you for bringing her to the episode, Im now looking for her book
Excellent presentation. Much appreciated. The props really helped to explain how this all works. Thank you.
I needed to hear this. Speaking sooo much to me and about myself. Thank you for doing this.
I’m ready for the “Altogether You” audiobook 😊
Let’s start a petition (aka go fund me?)
This information was so interesting. I learned so much. Thank you for the information.
this is amazing

So what does the death of Christ on the cross, Christ having to go to his cross, symbolize in the IFS system?
Yes, was wondering the same thing. sounds like there's really no need for salvation. I hope she answers you!

Thanks for your thoughts, Noah! You should become an IFS expert and use ALL the props! We support it!
@@PureDesireMinistries Maybe someday that's where God will lead me.
Agree, some good points from her but ... definitely a twist of some new age stuff. Thank you God for the Holy Spirit.

There is none good except God Jesus said in scripture

This is what I was thinking listening to them speak.
20:09 mind blowing
