Hi Suzy, this is an excellent/winner tutorial! You've covered all the bases here for anyone wanting to tackle an outdoor covering. I particularly appreciate that tip about the corners, giving just a smidge of extra room to install it while also making it snug, wow, that's great! I have an old Chandler commercial machine that I need to do a project with, thanks for the inspiration!

Wow, thank you for the video! I am actually sewing a 2 color Bimini for my Malibu Wake Board Boat. I got a little overboard and did a (foam sandwich) diamond stitch for the center piece. Anyway, was worried about exposed seams on the top or bottom. Thank you so much for the double side tape tip!

I’m saying wow right back at you! Diamond stitch centre, that’s ambitious and I’m sure it looks very professionally made. Good for you. The tape, I picked that up from “sail rite” UA-cam channel. They have videos on every aspect of sewing sumbrella professionally for boats and exterior projects. It also makes sewing such large pieces much easier. Thanks for watching.

Yes ma’am I hope it will look professional lol. I re upholstered all the seats in the boat. First time ever sewing anything. I bought my whole set up from Sailrite. I’ve had a blast learning. I am a metal artist, you can see what I do on any social media under Southern Fire Pits. Thanks again.

I didn't catch where you said it, but where did you get the Sunbrella material? I'm going to be looking for some for a project that I won't need until next year so I have some time to shop around!

Hi there. I bought the fabric at “ fabricland” here in Ontario. The fabric doesn’t have to be sumbrella, that’s just the brand. The service clerks at the store pointed out other outdoor fabrics that were water resistant, uv protected etc…made by other manufacturers. I was able to find the amount of fabric I needed from the clearance bins because they were sample rolls. Therefore, buy more than you need because it will be hard to match the fabric later, if you need it. Hope this helps and thanks for watching

@@suzyrebelo ahh, gotcha. I was thinking you found it online because I haven't seen the Sunbrella fabric here locally, let alone on sale. I have found a few brand options, but Sunbrella seems to be the best of the bunch from what I've seen - the most bang for the buck, at least. I'll keep my eyes peeled for some deals, but I suspect I'll just need to open up my wallet to get this project done haha.
      Thanks!

Hi there I went to the Fabricland in Barrie. They have a large discount / discontinued area in the back. There are other brand names for outdoor fabric. I asked the service people to help me find other, comparable outdoor fabrics. They were very helpful Good luck finding your fabric and happy sewing!

I found the make of thread. It’s by
COATS and CLARK-Outdoor Thread. This is the ideal thread when making or repairing items for outdoor living spaces. Use it on patio cushions pillows umbrellas grill covers and more. Made from 100-Percent polyester it is UV resistant to withstand exposure to the elements. Each package contains one 200 yard spool of Outdoor thread. Available in variety of colors (each sold separately). Made in USA.
