    • @suzyrebelo
      @suzyrebelo 14 днів тому

      Hi there. I’m using raw propolis and extracting its benefits using the oil. It sounds like you already have a finished product. They most likely extracted the propolis using alcohol or another method. I would search the product you have to see if and how it can be used for topical healing. I’ve never used extracts or tinctures so I can help with that. Thanks for watching

      Hi. I looked it up .I have no idea how they extract it using water. I’m using raw propolis, it’s a sticky resin with bits of bees wax. This is what thickens the oil into a salve. I use many sources like the beekeepers who supply my raw propolis. My beeswax’s alchemy recipe book. Mountain rose herbs website where I buy ingredients, their UA-cam tutorials. Herbal academy is also great source of information and many others. The general rule is to gently warm the herbs without destroying their properties. I believe no more that 140 degrees Fahrenheit which is about 60 degrees Celsius for about 3 hours. I used 122 degrees for 4 hours. It worked great and I could see the change in colour and consistency. I did try a second batch and reused the propolis with new oil. I only managed to extract a bit more , judging by the colour and fluidity of the second batch. The real test was applying it to a small wound and it healed beautifully. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

    Hello Suzy a question. Did you ever get a chance to Go back an make another batch of the propolis salve by reusing the propolis you started with to see if it was still as good ?? . I have been using your recipe an I love it . Thanks

      So glad you like this. I think it’s has amazing healing properties. I have tried reusing the propolis. The end result was a runny and light coloured salve. By observation only, it seems there was less propolis infused into the oil. I did use it by adding fresh propolis and repeating the infusion process. This isn’t scientific, just my observation. Hope this helps.

    Do you have to use a preservative? So these ingredients disperse the oil? Or does it remain separate?

      Hi there. This toner keeps for 3 months or so. I’m using commercially bought aloe and glycerin which already have preservatives in it. The vitamin e and essential oils help with other beneficial properties. My toner is cloudy, it doesn’t look separated….i think the glycerin and aloe help keep the toner emulsified …but I always shake before using it so it’s well combined. Hope this helps. It feels great on your skin.

    Hi what is the quantity of propolis flakes and oil used in the recipe? And is the final salve soft enough for a pump bottle, or squeeze tube?

    • @suzyrebelo
      @suzyrebelo 2 місяці тому

      Hi there. The ratio is 1 oz propolis to 8 oz oil. 1/2 oz vodka The salve is very soft . Its firmness depends on how much wax is in your raw propolis. My propolis was soft enough to use in a pump that is appropriate for lotions. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

      @ did you get any condensation on the inside lid of the jar? If I use cheese cloth instead is it fine to let it infuse longer?

    • @suzyrebelo
      @suzyrebelo 2 місяці тому

      @ValencerShand hi there. No I didn’t get condensation. Make sure the temperature isn’t too high. I used the lid to prevent any water getting into the propolis. You can infuse it longer if you think it needs to release more of the propolis. You can tell if the colour has deepened. I would recommend you remove it from the heat and let the jar cool. It should be creamy when set. Then , if it’s not infused enough , warm it up again for another hour or so. Remove cool and it should be ready to use. Hope this helps.

      @ did you use raw propolis with bits of bees in it? Or did you freeze it, blend it and separate those parts? Or did the bee keeper do that already for you? Thanks

      Hi there. I ordered the propolis from local bee keeper. It came in its raw form , crumbled, and ready to use. No bits of bees in it.

    so...are chili and cayennepepper the same? I thought that was two different peppers?

    • @suzyrebelo
      @suzyrebelo 2 місяці тому

      Hi there. Cayenne pepper powder is what I used. “Cayenne is a specific type of chili pepper, whereas “chili pepper” can refer to any pepper in the capsicum family” Hope this salve helps. Thanks for watching.

    Is it fair to assume that the more porous the material, the better it works?

    • @suzyrebelo
      @suzyrebelo 2 місяці тому

      Hi there. Porous ,yes, but also textured. Pipe cleaners work excellent at creating crystals because they both absorb the borax water and they have texture for the crystals to grab on to. Hope this helps and happy crafting.

      Wonderful. If you decide to spray them , do the lightest spray from a distance. If you spray too much, the crystals become dull. You don’t need to spray, they keep very well. Me be still look great after a year of sitting on display. Enjoy.
