How could you sew exactly the same look on a wool blanket, using waxed canvas as a border, not as a whole piece? I’m to sew picnic blankets, with a canvas border, and would like the grommets so it can be tied after rolling up.
Can the marine grade canvas be used as tent material? I have a old pop up tent trailer. It's really old... REALLY OLD. It needs some love. Ok a lot of love.
When I use the #129 I have issues. When I try and sew through it, it appears like the thread is missing some holes where the needle is sewing. then my needle is all gummed up from the tape. I was super excited about the product. now I'm not sure it's going to work for me.
A couple of suggestions - 1. Try the next smaller needle. Sometimes you just need more friction between the needle and the fabric to clean the adhesive from the needle. Otherwise the adhesive fills the groove in the needle and keeps that groove from performing its function - allowing the thread to slip on one side of the needle to allow for thread loop creation. If the loop is not created then the machine will skip a stitch or stitches. I can see the adhesive buildup very clearly in your photos. 2. Push the needle into a bar of Ivory soap repetitively to coat it prior to installing it in your sewing machine. Adhesive just doesn’t stick to this soap and it sometimes works really well. 3. Make sure you are using the right basting tape. This application of light spinnaker cloth would dictate use of ¼” standard seamstik (our #20306). If the tape you are using has too much adhesive content it will stick great but will also potentially cause stitch skipping. 4. Final, check your machine’s timing. The needle bar could be a tad too high or the hook could be slightly delayed in rotation.
Some snaps and even some grommets are made for different thicknesses. If you have questions about it let us know, we can help guide you to the right product. info@sailrite.com
Does this technique work for acute angles?

Great information. I work with many grommet projects and will definitely use this.
Thanks! Glad we could help.

awesome technique!
Good to know. Nice work.
Great idea. It’s too bad grommets, snaps etc aren’t made for different thicknesses
