  • Hi again !
    Let’s talk about TRIGGERS !!! 🔥
Massive topic in the Metal Drumming World, despite its ability to divide people's opinions, and making some of them hate about this technology 🤬
I will try to explain how it works, its benefits and usefulness to us, Drummers.
Also, I’ll show you the new FootBlaster Triggers I’m using, which are my personal favorite when it comes to precision and reliability.
These little things are the products of years of research by the man Christian Giusto, Necrosy’s drummer himself !

Youre awesome Thomas!! I love your content man!! I hate when people say "TRIGGERS ARE CHEATING" that clearly tells us that they have no knowledge about triggers lol, triggers dont allow you to just hit your pedal once and produce insane double bass lol, still gotta play everything the same and gotta play TIGHTER because like you said its very easy to hear inconsistencies in the double bass with triggers, awesome video as usual! Love you brother!

    •  3 роки тому

Thanks for the thorough explaination! I'm not a double bass player (at least not a good one), so I was wondering why (only?) blastbeat/metal guys were putting triggers on their pedals. Why put triggers on the pedals instead of on the drum head? Do you get false triggering when playing faster but with less attack? I'm guessing the lower signal to noise ratio could cause false triggering.... the noise (continued drum resonance) is higher compared to the signal (attack of the stroke) than in a slower more powerful stroke? Initally, I thought the triggers were to layer sounds on top of the drum acoustics, which seemed odd to be so popular. Your explaination of using the trigger to compensate for loss of power makes sense. As far as cheating, of course not... but reminds me of when guys use to say that mesh heads on vdrums were cheating because you could have higher rebound independent of tuning.

    •  3 роки тому +1

      You are completely correct !
For years I had triggers one the head, but with time technologies evolved, and the first brand making an external triggers mount on the pedal is Axis with their E-kits which work great !
Having the trigger on the head creates some issues with vibrations, hitting the snare too hard could create a false triggering, playing ultra speeds means less power, so the need to get the sensitivity up, and you find yourself in a vicious circle against false triggering and miss triggering …
With triggers on the pedals you get these issues away, you can but the sensitivity as high as you want without getting noise to trigger the sample 😊
And you can of course use a trigger to blend the acoustic signal and the trigger signal, it adds the consistency of the sample's attack to the acoustic signal which could lack power when playing fast 😊
Let's see it as distortion, or boost pedals for guitar 😉
      Hope it makes sense !
Cheers from France, take care !

Where can get some bass drum sample for the trigger modules like Roland tm2
I want a bass drum sample like yours or for the death metal genre

    •  Рік тому +1

You can find it on the web, just search for "death metal kick sample" you will find a loooooot !
Another solution is to use drums library and select the one you prefer. Some Mix Ready drum libraries are available and kicks sound heavy and powerful already !
You can also check some songs you like and hope there is a kick hit alone 😉
In this video, I use several drum libraries I blend together to obtain a custom multi samples and layered kick sound !

    @dcking1738 3 роки тому

I noticed you keep changing your settings on the Kopyto pedals through many videos, im struggling to hit high tempos past 250bpm from following your techniques and settings on the pedals, would these triggers help me cheat the speed so I can get to your level? Lol

    •  3 роки тому

Well that's strange because I never changed the settings of my pedals since I found the ones I am comfortable with (ok, maybe just decrease the spring tension of 1 step).
Playing above 250bpm was a big step for me, and I need to be able to play 8th notes at 250+ tempo full leg motion, then to launch the heel-toe technique to play twice as fast !
And no, unfortunately, it's not triggers making the speed … it only helps to have consistency in sound 😉
Keep drumming, you'll get it !

If I play single note on bass drum and set on trigger so the trigger will produce secondary note for double stroke bass drum, doesn't it?

    •  4 роки тому

You'll have to play the secondary note !
      ua-cam.com/video/HuWI3aJzqAU/v-deo.html
Double strokes is the fact to play 2 hits right then 2 hits left !

  • @thejontte4394
    @thejontte4394 3 роки тому +1

My left trigger works like a charm and I can easily play up to 290bpm double strokes but with my right trigger it doesn't always register the hit especially if I hit harder. I use footblasters too and I have tried changing the position of the trigger as well as sensitivity but it doesn't help. Do you have any solutions how to fix this?

    •  3 роки тому +1

I am sorry to hear that !
Try to put the right one on the left pedal, and the left one on the right pedal, is it doing the same problem ?
If it's the same thing, you have to work on the precision of your right foot 😊

We can say that footblasters are better than bass triggers or they work fairly the same?

    •  Рік тому

I can tell you that it's really better because thanks to its construction, it won't have any false triggering coming from the vibration of another shell. It will only trigger the sample only when the footboard hits the sensor. It is really a different vision, and I really prefer !
