    The end was very good.
    My way to improve my drumming has always been finding a song I wanted to cover, that was slightly out of my comfort zone and practicing it until I could basically play it in my sleep.

      It's called a gravity blast/roll, and it's a Swedish technique, I believe. It's used in a lot of extreme metal songs and drumming, and it's done by bouncing off by the rim of the snare and getting extreme fast notes. There are a lot of tutorials about it on youtube, check it out

    Dude, you are so talented. I enjoyed the video. For the techniques and because you are awesome at playing. I started playing drums when i was 11. It's been one of my passions forever (other than screaming vocals) but i haven't played since i was 17 and I'm 21 now and miss my old drum set. I'm trying to see if i can buy another one along the way by saving money and try to keep learning and getting better at it. Great video and thank you. You're an inspiration!

    At about 3:50 I noticed that he does more fingers, and wrist with his right hand, and mostly just fingers with his right. I do that too, and I thought that would make my playing sound a bit off. Good to see it doesn’t make much of a difference.

      @@ThomasCremier so do you recomend using the wrist for both hands?

    • @ThomasCremier
      @ThomasCremier  5 років тому +9

      Oscar Martín I recommend to play and see what your body does. And it is more comfortable to your. Maybe you won’t use your wrist but your fingers will play great. In that case work on your fingers to expand your muscles capacities !
      But if you are stuck with all the part of your arm and hand, play very slow and force yourself to exaggerate the motion !

    • @sorrito7

  • @LordBaktor
    @LordBaktor 11 місяців тому

    The bit about going above the speed you're currently comfortable with is something I've seen many overlook. Sometimes we drummers are so afraid of developing a bad habit that we stay inside our comfort zone for too long, slowing our progress down in the end. You need to do something badly a bunch of times in order to learn how to do it good.

    • @ThomasCremier
      @ThomasCremier  10 місяців тому +1

      Exactly !
      You cannot achieve to do something new without failing a lot before !

      @@ThomasCremier well I am not a drummer my self but a lot of these tutorials is about double bass, but people neglect the drum fills in between but I think its important to know it. I trust you will know what to show :) what beginner to advanced drum fills do you recommend? especially for metal drummers.

    The thing i noticed the most is that your leading hand is doing a lot of moeller, whereas the left is almost strictly finger finger technique, with wrist/arm for strength, but all very linear. This is not a bad thing at all, and it probably comes from the lower rebound of the ride and accenting necessary to do more complex cymbal patterns. I know that's what I'm doing.
    I think though, that developing stronger moeller technique for the left hand, while more of a classical approach to hand technique will increase both speed and control since it allows you to change the muscle groups mid blast and conserve energy. Maybe you can already do this but don't need to, i don't know. But i will personally try and get moeller better on my left hand with french grip. It's currently better than my right with american grip though, likely due to the natural hand position of a snare.
    Your amplitude, as you say, however is very impressive. There's a lot of strength there. Very good.

      You're right ! my left hand is mostly doing blast beats so, as a metal drummer, I want a constant and homogeneous sound on my snare blasts ! 😊

      It is all about training. Just as running, or any sport. Your muscles need to be trained and that you work your stamina ! It takes a long time and as you see at the end of the video, at that time, my both hands / arms didn't have the same technique. It is all about training ! 😊
      Keep drumming and enjoy what you do !

      He also crushed them coming out of the sextuplets, and still audibly favors one hand. Single stroke roll is literally the first rudiment people learn, and he is just not that great at it.

    Thomas, at 7:36 in this video lesson, you play blast beats with the right hand very close to the hoop/rim of the snare. Are you touching the shell with the stick? And is that a technique separate from the techniques you demonstrated in the video, or a modification of those techniques?

    • @ThomasCremier
      @ThomasCremier  7 місяців тому

      The part at exactly 7:36 is a right handed blast beat but I do not touch the rim at that point. But at 7:47 I play a gravity blast, it is a two times faster than a traditional one as the first stroke is when going down on the snare hitting the rim and the head, and the second stroke is made when going back up using the rim as a pivot point to hit the head a second time !
      It is true I didn't talk about the Gravity Blast on this lesson, maybe I will do a video for this type of blast 😊
      Hope it helps !
      Cheers !
