My son bought a 54 reg 2 litre Zafira yesterday, Saturday, drove home no problem. Today, Sunday, just like your video, 3000 revs max!. Brilliant, I'm going to buy one tomorrow and let's hope that's the problem solved!
on mine ,corsa c , had the same problem with the spanner light. The problem was the accelerator pedal. Unscrew three bolts and unplug the current , then make a clean with a cleaner spray all the contacts and the problem gone. For better results unscrew the 5 bolts of the pedal and clean the inside contacts and electrics.

Bit of an update for this vid just had a car from a friend of mine with the same trouble. tried my airflow meter and it was the same .after some checking i discovered the egr valve was sticking on, after applying some vasalene to the workings of the egr " i didnt remove it completely just the plastic cover" it was working fine i will upload another vid if i get time to explain the process
I'd try blasting it out with brake cleaner before buying a new mass sensor, worth a shot. also might Aswell do the maf sensor and egr valve while you're at it. similar technical difficulty required for both, egr is a tad more work but only the likes of s few more bolts and usually easily accessible
Brake cleaner will fuck the electronic maf and egr valve up you need electronical contact cleaner about 7 pound a can , you don't just go spraying anything
Just had this on my VXR, turns out like you say it's a misreading sensor. I just used my dads error code finder and removed error codes and it's back to normal for now. Am keeping to code reader in my car as if it happens again turning it on and off doesn't work for me
Worst thing modern car manufacturers ever did was fit all this tech to new cars, sure it makes the mechanics life easier but , as a consumer it makes our life hell as we have to pay 75 quid each time to get the codes read , also Vauxhall since GM took them over have been rubbish, i remember years back my dad had the old Astra 1.7 diesel the mk3 Astra got 247 thousand miles outta it before the Turbo finally gave way, if this had been a modern Vauxhall it would be dead before 100K

Hi have you tried to replace the airflow meter. Or if you know somebody with a corsa borrow thiers to try and see if it is your meter. On petrol models the light can come on if theres a problem with the fuel injectors .
ANYONE HELP? My dads Zafira is playing up right now. Some days it’s starts up perfect other days it’s a bugger to start (won’t turn over) but starts eventually. Tonight they was driving home (about 10 miles drive) and the car just completely stopped and wouldn’t start at all so they call recovery. Anyone know what it could be? My 2008 1.6 Astra has had the spanner light on since i bought it 2 months ago , only issue ive had is on a hot day if i accelerate hard sometimes theres a power cut out , cant afford to pay Vauxhall 75 quid just to inspect it so gonna keep driving it and if something catastrophic happens, il flog it to we buy any car LOL , they have offered me 1200 for it and i paid 1500 so not too big a hit to take, years ago i had a Peugeot 207 and clutch and gearbox went on it, sold it to them for 2 grand as i said you cant test drive the car as im not insured LOL felt good to con the conners for a change ha ha, poor guy who works for them , when collecting the car revved the fuck outta it and it wouldnt move, he ended up getting a recovery truck to pick it up ha ha

Mine 1.3 cdti 07 even if I unplug the battery won't solve, clean egr, wastegate changed Fuel pressure pump nothing, had no fault code but after all cleaning now one fault. To do with sensor
my car does something like this -- the service light with the spanner is on and revs won't go above 3,000 rpm, however, if i restart the car, the problem goes away. then the problem would appear again if i press down the paddle very hard when driving up hill. do you think it also a problem with airflow meter?

l have a diesel Astra 55 plate,exact same problem,,very common fault with no definite solution,I have read loads of blogs,,ease your foot off and the light goes of !!!!!!
It will do. These cars hate aftermarket sensors an usually they won't fix the problem at all. Get a proper branded one an it will fix it for good. Doesn't have to be vauxhall van be Bosch or Delphi etc
i have this problem on 1.6 petrol computer said CAM SHAFT sensor i got new nothing went to vauxhall specialist to check he said to change also crank shaft sensor still nothing checked wiring loom nothing plug on computer delete codes they come back again other mechanic said its ECU then i went to another garage then just did this problem on zafira changed ECU and nothing I'm tired of changing so many parts and nothing fixes it and no one knows what it is might give this a try thou also some say to do compression test on each cylinder other guy said exhaust is blocked hmmm who to trust
one way to see if it's the exist is take off " remove "the oxygen sensor and run it as normal it is a bit noisy but it will save a lot of time and money and if the car is running right then you know you will have a blocked exaust or catalytic converter.
ok i will give that a try but how is this going to tell me if cat is blocked when i remove all the way up there by air box honeycomb cat will still be blocked? i just spoke to one guy who fixed his similar problem with with cat but he butchered his honeycomb so running fine but will fail mot for sure haha but he never had service light on like me and you but his car was still in limp mode at 50mph

No no first you plug the vehicle into a diagnostic scanner and find out what the fault code is reading the spanner light could be numerous things mass air flow is a common one I give you that , however egr , vacuum pressure and other faults can be the cause off power loss and spanner light on the dash these cars are getting old and most are shit and unreliable In this day and age Vauxhall has became a shit car manufacturer not like the old British Vauxhalls were good

This didn't clear the problem. So we cleaned the EGR Valve. No luck there either! Any more ideas?

Check for splits in the really thin boost pipes
have the same problem with my 2.0 diesel omega when it gets warm the Rev counter stops working and it takes ages to rev it also has no power?
Rev counter not working on Vauxhall diesel is the crank sensor.

Could be the egr. Try to clean it!

The first thing to do is plug the car into a bosch ecu reader.
will it let you go up to 5 MPH in 1ST 10MPH in 2nd gear and 15 in 3MPH

for a Vauxhall maf a real one is £102 form Vauxhall so I got one of eBay less then 3 mths ago for £30 pounds and its gone again less then 200 miles

Not solved my problem on my 120bhp vectra
I have a Astra 59 plate 1.3 diesel but doesn't stay on just starts at 1,000 revs then drops and cuts off even if I hold the accelerator down.
Buy a OBD2 code reader and scan the ecu. Does the timing chain rattle at cold start? Looks like a Cam or Crank sensor issue

Sounds like a thermostat or water pump problem I'd go for the thermostat first and its relatively cheap to replace

elton malko - It was the ECU. Had a recon fitted and goes fine though not as 100% smooth as before. Problem sorted...for now
